Salt Springs to West River Station - Requested Drive - Exploring Nova Scotia Back Roads

Edit: it was West River Station that we reached. There is sketchy internet and no signage out in these remote, previously populated areas.
A viewer requested this drive, hoping to see their grandparents homestead. Hopefully they’ll let us know!
Nova Scotia back roads are littered with old communities and farms and homesteads, abandoned and forlorn. Watch to the end where we’ll take a look at an old home, curtains still in the main floor windows, but the second floor roof has crumbled in. Bittersweet.

Thanks so much for this Beth it was great. Although i couldn't see the house i think it was the laneway to the right at12:59 of the video. it was great seeing the area again after 40 plus years. As a side note there is an old auto garage not long after you left Saltspring Park that was my uncles. It was a gas station as well but he had to close it when the 104 was built because they wouldn't build an off ramp to it. Again thanks so much and safe driving.

Thanks for watching, but you know… I think I messed up. I think I only drove to West River Station? There’s just so little signage out in the country. Do you have any intel on that? I think I know where you are talking about with the gas station/ garage. Those choices can be devastating for small business.

As far as i know you passed through Watervale when you went by my grandparents old place.

I think you’re right. I had another look at the map. Yesterday, I drove way up past River Station on Graham Road, thinking Watervale was up there - only to see it before West River a station on the map. There are few signs and sketchy internet out there. Beautiful area. Thanks for suggesting the drive!
