I am a simple norwegian. I approve of these germans.They bring 'kropp' into this. -They sing and play with defiance. Understand me correctly. We have germans singing irish shanty, playing medieveal gurdy, looking like a highly over-budgetted Hollywood-movie... Trust me. I love it. /modern norwegian (living in Denmark) Gosh. I'd rather drink beer with these guys than 99% of who I meet.

I lost my Mother back in 2018. This song reminds me of her as well. She would want me to continue sailing to distant shores and not be sad that shes gone, but remember her and the good times always. Also, I love Vikings, and I should blare this while sailing in assassins creed Vallhalla because this is the first "Viking rock/metal song" that I think i've ever heard. Thanks for the upload Saltatio Mortis, love you guys! You got me through some dark times as well, and your music continues to touch me.

If you liked this, you should check out Powerwolf. They are from Germany, but sing in English for the most part. I recommend starting with their albums Sacramento of Sin and Back in Bloodred. Their newest album is also very good!

@@neeee3eee Lies doch meinen Kommentar noch einmal durch. Ich weiß.. Stil ist für dich offensichtlich ein belastetes Wort. Aber wenn du mal nicht gleich ausflippst solltest du bemerken, dass sich mein Kommentar nur auf diesen Song hier bezieht. Dazu hinkt der Vergleich mit den Hosen. Die sind von Deutschpunk zu einer Art Pop-Punk gewechselt haben also auch nicht den einen Stil zum nachgoogeln.

yes I wondered if I maybe just missed it. I am over seven decades of time old and I have heard this both when young and so much more now in this age. I unfortunately have been to battle although not on a ship. Sounds kinda lame now but it is magnificent when my grandkids hear it. Yes I’ll admit to telling the tale although I am reluctant to relive it. I think people where stronger then (yes call me a nasty name if you want) I don’t wish to relive those harsh lives but there is an aspect of that lifestyle that draws these folks like i once was. @@pophap Die Mischung in diesem Text ist, aus meiner Sicht, bei weitem besser als wenn alles im Nordisch/Skandinavisch? Wäre. Das macht es auch Nahbarer für die Leute, die diese Musik nicht nur hören sondern auch Mit Singen wollen, wenngleich sie vermutlich irgend einen Kauderwelsch Singen statt dem Text :D

@@jasonlincoln7863 Almost. To be exact, it goes as follows: Doing a cover version of "My Mother Told Me" Other bands: entirely in English Saltatio Mortis: Hold my boat! ("Knarr" is actually the designation for the Vikings' cargo vessel they heavily used and basically is in every movie)

seen them live two days ago at metalfest, tschecia; this song in particular was so amazing. immagine, if you can, an old roman amphitheatre, and where the accoustics of the place throw back the sound of the ranks and the stage alike. being in the moshpitt for this band (and this song in particular) was one of the most amazing things of the festival, only topped by the moshpitts of gloryhammer and dalriada (an amazing band i had never heard of before, check them out)
