Hey guys, in this video I review the Saltwater Chlorine Generation System by GAME (Great American Merchandise and Events). It’s a very well built system, however it just hasn’t been working correctly for me. That doesn’t mean don’t buy it, you might have better luck than me.

Thanks. I was going to buy it, but not now. This stuff is so darn confusing. I was looking at this because I don't wanna pay $800 for a chlorine generator. Did you try choosing, low salt, high salt, boost? I am asking because you've probably had more time to use it and maybe you figured the problem out?

So I've had a about 2 weeks using it, me and the guy from company came up with it was excess salt dissolved into the filter. Once it leveled out, it started working, and it's been working ever since, keeping my chlorine levels at about a 10. It's a pretty great machine. I actually have a second video about it too!

@@huntershortrepairs Oh Thanks. You should update your amazon review, I found it there too and everyone will think it's a rip off. Thanks for letting me know. I am getting a 24' round and the Hayward and top names are around $1,200. I will look for your other vid. Thanks for the reply and for making the video.

@BradySzabo you're welcome! I will be updating my review, the chlorinator still reads higher than my tester, but it's at least generating chlorine, that's all I care about, it just needed to do what it was supposed to lol. It's been generating daily for over a week and a half with no issues.

@WilliamPierce-ds2ko I did make an update video, it's been working with no issues for a few weeks now, and now the salt numbers are only slightly off compared to my wifi enabled tester, it keeps my pool at a fairly high chlorine level, which is fine with me, I work at a condo and we keep the pools here at 10ppm chlorine, so I've tried to keep mine at home that way too, usually I'm the only one who uses the pool, so I'm not bothered by high chlorine.

What size are the threaded ports? Are they standard MPT/FPT threads? I really wish these companies would provide these details in the listing because some us don't use those standard plastic pool hoses. I have an aluminum above ground pool with a heater that is all piped with PVC/flex PVC and I would like to know what these threads are. I just ordered it from Amazon but I would like to know before I receive it so I know what fittings I need. Thanks.

I believe they are the 2.5inch threads just like the standard intex style hoses.
@gillmanjr87

@@huntershortrepairs I'm pretty sure the intex hoses don't use NPT threads. I could be wrong but I don't think so.

@gillmanjr87 not sure, I just know it's like 2.5 inch hoses lol

@@huntershortrepairs Just received mine today. Much to my surprise they are actually NPT threads...2" to be exact. So FYI for everyone, the ports to the generator are 2" MPT.

I've had mine running for a few hours now and it seems to be working. I have another question for you I was hoping you could answer. I actually asked the manufacturer as well but who knows when I'll hear back from them, if at all. Do you know what happens with the timer function AFTER the timer expires? I read in the manual that it goes into a "rest" mode and stops generating, but for HOW LONG? Does it just stay in rest until it is manually re-activated again, or will the timer come back on after a certain amount of time?
@huntershortrepairs
@huntershortrepairs 3 месяца назад
I've never had to reactivate it manually. I'm not sure how many hours it "rests" for, but I can tell you that it's kept my pool at a solid 10ppm chlorine running for 5 hours and then resting. It's been working perfectly. The only thing I've had to do manually is plug my pool stuff back in after the lawn people have cut the grass, they unplug the extension cord and don't plug it back in.

@@huntershortrepairs 10 ppm! Thats really high. You only need 2-3 ppm to keep a pool clear. I guess I'll just have to play around with it to figure out how long I need to run it. One more question, on yours does the blue timer light stay lit all the time? The manual says it is supposed to be lit even when in rest mode, but mine won't stay lit, it only lights up when I'm actually changing the timer setting, then it shuts off.
@huntershortrepairs

@gillmanjr87 I think mine also shuts the light off, not sure lol. I do know from talking with the VP of product development from the company who also wrote the manual, that some things in the manual were changed by the manufacturer without consulting him first, so some things may differ from the manual than in reality. If you have any issues or questions please let me know and I can relay them to Luis from GAME. I have a direct line to him.

@@huntershortrepairs Thanks. It appears as though the timer is on a 24 hour cycle. Meaning, for example, if you set it for 4 hours, it'll generate chlorine for 4 hours and then shut off (rest) for 20 hours, then back on for 4, off for 20, etc. I think thats how it works. Although I am very surprised you are maintaining 10 ppm chlorine in your pool with only running it 5 hours a day. Either yours works better than mine or you don't have a lot of direct sunlight on your pool. I will probably have to run to mine for 12 hours and off for 12 because my pool is in direct sun most of the day.

@gillmanjr87 mine is mostly under trees with partial sunlight for most of the day, so that's probably why, I keep my ph around 7.4
