Catching flounder using an artificial shrimp lure can be effective with the right technique. Here's a basic guide:
1. **Choose the Right Lure**: Select a realistic-looking shrimp imitation lure. Soft plastic or silicone shrimp lures with lifelike colors and features tend to work well.
2. **Use the Right Tackle**: Opt for a medium to medium-heavy spinning rod and reel combo with a braided or fluorocarbon line in the 10-20 lb test range.
3. **Fish in the Right Locations**: Flounder like to hide near the bottom, often in areas with sand or mud. Look for areas with structure like rocks, reefs, piers, or docks, as these can attract flounder.
4. **Retrieve Technique**: Cast your shrimp lure near the target area and let it sink to the bottom. Then, use a slow and steady retrieve, occasionally bouncing the lure along the bottom to mimic the movement of a real shrimp.
5. **Be Patient**: Flounder are known for their cautious feeding behavior. When you feel a bite or resistance, allow the fish some time to fully take the lure before setting the hook. Flounder tend to "sip" their prey, so give them a moment to swallow the lure.
6. **Set the Hook**: When you feel a solid bite or resistance, give a firm hookset. Flounder have a bony mouth, so setting the hook properly is essential.
7. **Handle with Care**: Flounder have sharp teeth, so handle them carefully when you land one.
Remember that fishing success can vary depending on factors like location, tide, time of day, and water temperature. Local knowledge and experience can also be invaluable for targeting flounder effectively with artificial lures. Ask someone you know for their input or watch my videos!

They like it a little too much 😂. There were some puffer fish interested in it too. The in-line hook I put on there is going to make the lure even better I think. Take care bud!!
