Great video. Clearly laid out. Informative and funny. I like how you take your filters all the way across the neighborhood to spray out the leaves. Lol

Thanks a lot Alan! I tried to show as much as possible with this process. I get a handful of questions about how to maintain a salt water pool. Haha I take the filters just to my curb to spray them down. I could spray them right by the filter system but then that kind of leaves a mess behind! Thanks for watching!

I just got a new pool seen so many videos on this and like yours the best, It was so straight forward. Did you do one for testing and adding chemicals, My pool is salt generated also. After your video i feel confident in the maintenance from all I learned so far. Maybe you can make me feel confident in adding chemicals
@GarageGear
@GarageGear Год назад
Hey Anthony! Appreciate the positive feedback my friend! I do not have a chemical video but I can tell you I only check my chemicals once in the beginning of the pool season. I take a sample of my water to a pool place nearby and they test it right away. They tell me what chemicals I’ll need and I put them in. Usually every year is about $50-$75 worth of chemicals to put in. I do this in May and all I do is add salt as need when my pump tells me to add some! Pretty straightforward. Thanks for watching!

No problems what so ever on my end! I have TREX outdoor furniture! Lasts for decades! I don’t have a diving board but I have not heard anything about bolts rusting from a salt water pool. we just did a saltwater conversion this week. my question when you go to the Baracuda on Amazon says with or without the disc but it looks the same when you click on both of them so I am not sure what they are talking about. I think this will help us out tremendously our pool is 2800 gallons.

Thanks 08breezy! When they were doing our install I was outside a lot watching as much of the process as possible and asking a lot of questions. I was that annoying customer. Lol! Before we paid for ours, we sat down with the owner/head installer and went over every little detail just to make sure we had everything right. After they were done, they supplied us with “clean fill” to fix out landscaping. It was not “clean” there was lots of junk in it. I had a mountain of dirt to sift through on my driveway. If you can get a look at the clean fill prior to them dropping it off I would do that. Unless you paying to have your landscaping done after. We had to do a lot of lawn leveling to get our yard to look right with “dirty fill”. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching! 👍

As a pool guy I don’t recommend impulse style scrubber/cleaners. The water hammer can break the pvc line on the bottom of the skimmer. This can run up to 3,000 dollars to repair depending on your size. Also hosing your filter on the street can get you in trouble with your local department of water pollution. Don’t do it.

When the filter is out you should wash out the debris from the bottom of the filter housing. . Remove the big plug on bottom of the filter housing. I do the same for the pump filter.

Thank you for sharing , one big issue that I see from professionals is that you're missing the check valve before the Chlorinator. apparently the salt/Chlorine goes back into the line when the pump shuts off, and this damages the copper lines in the gas heater and makes it go bad prematurely. Please correct me if you have more information about this.
@GarageGear
@GarageGear 2 года назад
Hey Chase, I’m sorry to say I don’t have any additional information on this but I can say I don’t have any issues to report with my set up which has been running fine for 4 years now. Perhaps someone else can comment on this below. Thanks for watching! 👍
@drdrew3
@drdrew3 Год назад
@@GarageGear Systems with a chlorine feeder that uses pucks should have a check valve so concentrated chlorine doesn’t continue to dissolve and backflow into the heater. But a salt water cell only runs when the pump is running so there’s no large volume of concentrated chlorine and therefore no check valve needed. The heater should be plumbed such that it can be bypassed during the summer and avoid unnecessary wear and tear

Growing up my parents had an above-ground pool we got from Sears but the pump system was so weak. And that cartridge to help filter we also had... I had to clean it every single day! 😤 Then we got either a sand or earth filter I think a sand though.... That thing sucked! We would get this powdered mustard color in the bottom and no matter how much we vacuumed it it just shot right back into the pool by passing the sand filter!!!!!😤 I wonder why? Also why did you pick the cartridge instead of a sand filter? What is your horsepower? I'm jealous I wish I still had a pull especially like your yours! How much was the whole setup?
@GarageGear
@GarageGear 3 года назад
Hey Vegan! When we had the pool company over to discuss our layout, I remember telling them I wanted the easiest filter system they had. They told me to go with salt and the system I have now. They gave the cartridge system. I’m not sure what the horse power is. I can get back to you on that. I know the heater was $2000. I’m not sure why the rest of the filter units cost individually. I want to say the pump runs about $800 but I could be wrong. Hope this helps. Thank you for checking out my channel!
