Great tips, but no limit of hooks for halibut. Only certain species like rockfish and salmon have hook restrictions.

Thanks +Rhyak I just looked it up and yes. You are correct. The 3 hook limit is for freshwater. No limit in salt except for the species you said. Thanks. I'll include that in the Recon Baits A-rig vid.

^this. You're setup is what's sometimes called a "Cali Rig", with only 3 hooks. But that's for freshwater. Nice vid.. how'd you get that sweet underwater video?

the go to 60 holds more line too. It takes in 29 inches per turn aposed to 26

I was off. No limit in Saltwater. The 3 hook limit is for freshwater.

Thanks for the umbrella rig review as I'll be trying to troll those this spring, the reel looks nice but not into those type of reels anymore and nice fish and halibut you caught and awesome video brother.

Thanks +Noah Hobbs. I looked it up and the 3 hook limit is for freshwater. Thank you. Can roll with 5 hooks in saltwater. Thats cool. From the CA DFW website. (www.wildlife.ca.gov/Fishing/Ocean#317421154-how-many-fishing-rods-and-hooks-can-i-use-when-sport-fishing-in-the-ocean) "How many fishing rods and hooks can I use when sport fishing in the ocean? Any number of hooks and fishing lines may be used in all ocean waters and bays with the following exceptions:You can only use one line with no more than three hooks while fishing in San Francisco and San Pablo bays between the Golden Gate Bridge and the west Carquinez Bridge.When you are fishing from a public pier you can use only two rods and lines, two hand lines, or two crab nets, crab traps or other appliances used to take crabs.When you are fishing for rockfish or lingcod or you have rockfish or lingcod aboard your boat, you can only use one line with no more than two hooks.If you are fishing north of Point Conception for salmon or have salmon on board your boat, you can only use one rod and line with no more than two single barbless hooks (check current salmon regulations for other hook restrictions). Ref. Section 28.65."

Thanks Anthony! I still have the Kraken. I take out friends and family on it. I'm not in a hurry to sell it but if the right offer came along I'd think about it. Its a nice kayak. Are you fishing on a kayak too?

Thanks Gabe. That's a good question. I'l make a crankbait rod/reel combo video soon. I like to use a medium rod so it loads us and gives you that nice gradual bend. For the reel I like something in the 6 range. Its middle of the road speed but it also won't wear out your cranking arm like a high speed reel might. I'll explain all that in the video. Great question!

Hi Tim! First of all thank you so much for being a long time subscriber. In this video the underwater rig is a water wolf camera (amzn.to/2NTprVN) I used to run it on a heavy rod that I broke a few months ago so i haven't been doing underwater vids but will soon. Another company makes a better version this underwater camera is GoFish it's got a ton more features and can connect to your phone (amzn.to/2OlQKro). I'll be doing more underwater action soon and thanks again for watching and being a long time subscriber.

Yo so i went out to SD bay Sunday in about 20 foot of water and ..had the recon A Rig all setup with warbait underspins, 4 spotties, average 12 inch. In about 10 casts..crazy bite.
