Depends on the production budget. Snow Brown is $200+ million, while DW's is probably around $5-10 million tops, and if it manages to snag $50-100 million at the box office that's already a success. Snow Brown is gonna flop big like Black Mermaid. 😏

Being conservative and calling it 60% that would be $178M which would bring the total cost to 475M. The worldwide box office grossing was 569M, however that's gross. The return to the production company is only about 50% of domestic and even less for international (anywhere from 30-40%) even being optimistic and assuming a 50% return on all box office sales, that would only be 284.5M for a 190.5M loss. A lot of shill commentators have been trying to spin this as a win for Disney by obfuscation, don't fall for it.

Snow White is a centuries old tale. Disney didn’t invent it. And they weren’t even the first ones to do an adaption of the tale. Another adaptation by another studio is gonna be different from the Disney animated movie.

4K TVs are barely starting to become the standard for most households now, so I don’t think so. Go make a survey and ask random people to see how many of them have a 6k TV or monitor, let alone 8k. There are even 16k TVs out there, but who cares? Most people don’t care about 8k either.

But it can be more successful based on its budget.

I have seen her in her RU-vid channel and I personally find her prettier than the other Snow White. But she doesn’t look the best in this shot. Also the makeup makes her look a bit strange but they appear to be following the book’s description quite strictly.

Well, that’s a fair concern. If you have children, you should definitely do your best to vet the media they consume regardless of the source. Failure to do so is how Disney got so far down this path. But, if you watched Jeremy’s introduction of Bentkey, you will notice how he underlines how they have changed the product from initial concept. Initially, they wanted to have more identifiably conservative content. They have apparently changed their minds on that, and just want more good, appropriate, children’s entertainment sans woke crap instead. Hence why they scrapped the branding of DW Kids and are releasing episodes on Saturday mornings (“bringing back Saturday morning cartoons”). Now, whether that’s just air on their part or whether they follow through with that is anyone’s guess. From what they have revealed so far, I would say they’re pretty much hitting their mark.

"Brett" Cooper is a young seasoned actress. She's been doing tv and movies for years. If you already have someone like that, with her experience and talent and profile, already on the payroll? Why not utilize it.

I like the title to be honest. It makes me think that they are going to focus more on the Evil Queen character than the other adaptations. Who knows…

@@optimuscake2171 The ROI ratio is likely in DW’s favor. Disney has a huge mountain to climb to show a profit and the consumer backlash is well known. I would like to see the numbers from an investor stand point. Brett does have 3.5 million subscribers on her channel alone. Ziegler is a big star but she has had a huge backlash which led to the whole thing to begin with. Watching the drama unfold will be an interesting case study to say the least.

@@optimuscake2171 Have you seen Disney’s stock prices? They went from a high water mark of $203/share in March 2021 down to a current $83/share losing a decade worth of growth. They have lost over $900 million in the last handful of movies. Bentkey’s entire studio budget is like a quarter of Disney’s Snow White budget and Disney’s Is expected to flop due to inflated budget and abysmal consumer reception. The whole point of the discussions around Disney is how much money they are burning through and how abysmal their ROI is. They are laying off massive amounts of staff, cutting budgets, and they are going to raise Disney+ subscription rates which will cost customers even while they they have lost 11.7 million subscribers worldwide since July. All this while Bentkey is a brand new subscription service with only upside potential as they are gaining subscribers, and if it goes to theaters it will be all the more profitable. I haven’t gone to theaters in years and don’t have Disney+, but I will pay to see Bentkey’s Snow White and the Evil Queen next year, whether by streaming or theaters which ever is available, just to support the project. So yes, the ROI is likely in Bentkey’s Snow White.

It may look like something is off compared to the Snow White that we're used to,but they aren't trying to recreat the Disney version that we're all familiar with. They're giving their take on the original Grimm's fairytale.
