I'm in Chiang Mai and have no whisky to review so I was debating about spending more on the Huddart at ฿2,990 (~€77) than the Old Pulteney 12 at ฿2,590 (~€67). I watched your review again to help me make up my mind and I'm going for the peat-influenced Huddart. It stings that the more expensive bottle is also at 700ml vs the 750ml 12 year, but I'm using the 46% ABV to further justify my purchase. Thanks and cheers from Thailand, Jon! 🥃🇹🇭
Greetings from Nova Scotia, your channel along side whiskey vault/tribe has given me great joy along my whiskey journey. I often find myself getting almost identical notes to you every different whiskey I try alongside one of your videos, I hope you have a great week this September
Wow! That is really cool that we often find similar notes in the drams we share. I hope fall will be beautiful for you out East. I'm looking forward to some cooler weather here and some peated drams. Cheers!
I enjoy Old Pulteney 12 and Old Pulteney Huddart as every day scotch pours, so good, but I wish I could buy all my whisky in Alberta!! OP 12 is $92.00 at our BC Liquor stores the Huddart costs $100.00. I think they are wonderful, each with their own characteristics, and I have a new bottle of each right now on the bar but I'd love to see a lower price point! Terrific review Jon as always! Cheers! :-)
I can get the 12 here in Florida for $50 USD. That price is just ok. I can only get the Huddard online for $47 USD plus $26 shipping. For me, that puts the Huddard over the reasonable price I would pay for it. I can find 12 year olds at higher ABV around the same price as the Old Pulteney which are more enjoyable (for me). I would like to try that Huddard. Hopefully someone will carry it here locally at a decent price. Thanks for the review.
Interesting. I can still get the 12 for $35 USD, but Huddart is $50 - 60USD depending on the store. For $47USD, I would certianly want to try it. Thanks for sharing!
I like both the old and the new line🙂 Somehow I think the new line is a more "normal" whisky, where the old line had a more stand out Old Pulteney quality setting it apart from other whiskies without being better or worse. Great review as always, Jon👍
Any whiskey I’ve tried that has the salty, briney aspect I find rather off putting and didn’t really enjoy the OP 12. Still fun to explore though! Cheers Jon
