Salvation By Works? 

oscarchaves. Acts 2: 38 isn't the Biblical way of being baptized. The translators have misled people with Acts 2: 38. So God didn't tell you to get re-baptized according to Acts 2: 38.

@kevinconnelly6075 the disciples in Acts 19 were already saved, they could have been saved for up to twenty years but they weren't baptized with the Christian Baptism until they met Paul. Proving that water baptism doesn't save. Paul knew that water baptism doesn't save, all the Apostles and disciples knew that water baptism doesn't save. Born again Christians know that water baptism doesn't save. Ithinkbiblically only false religions that think water baptism saves.

I have provided David K Bernard, the general superintendent of the upci wrong. So now he won't reply to me, he has also blocked me on his Facebook page. So even a top Oneness man has been proved wrong.

That is cult teaching. Jesus paid the total price for our salvation. Period. But I will never convince you, but I hope scripture does.

It does not take works to be saved. What more can we do? Jesus paid the price on the cross. Salvation is by faith alone through Christ alone.

He said the exact opposite. He said it was "not the putting away of the filth of the flesh...". You got that exactly opposite from what he said.

John 17:3 says And this is life eternal, that they might KNOW thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. The Bible says that eternal life is to KNOW the Father and Jesus. How are we able to know that we have come to KNOW the Father and Jesus? 1 John 2:3-4 says 3 And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him. So, assurance of eternal life in Christ is to keep the commandments(plural) of Christ and by this we can KNOW that we KNOW Him and have eternal life. The Bible clearly says that whoever says they KNOW Him but does not keep His commandments(plural) is a LIAR!! Plain and simple. The gospel that is taught by many people today has been reduced down to just "faith alone". This false gospel of "faith alone" has made the judgement of God based on following His commandments null and void. Obeying His commandments have been eliminated from the gospel and have been made subsequent and optional to salvation. Walking in the Spirit has been made optional as well. This false gospel of "faith alone" changes what Jesus said in Matthew 7:14 - For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. By teaching that we do not need to keep the commandments(plural) of Christ as the gospel, the saving power of the gospel has been neutralized. The end result is that millions of people have been deceived by Satan into thinking that they are saved. They believe that "faith alone" saved them apart from them having to keep the commandments of Christ. This has become Satan's masterpiece and has deceived millions of people into thinking they have eternal life in Christ when they actually do not.

If God wants you to have that license, you will 🙏🙏🙏 Let Him speak to you about that, and then pursue it brother.

You may want to cross reference the Greek on this. When you examine the context of the language and the context of James, you’re interpretation falls apart in over 170 different cases. Remember. We are co-laborers WITH Christ, not just FOR Christ. There is a personal working that the individual has to take ownership of. Seems like a far reach to jump over biblical and personal responsibility, but I could be misreading your intent.

@@wjdyr6261 The Greek is plainly written… I’ve not read it wrong… lol One does not demonstrate their faith biblically without taking a trip to the water. It’s impossible to demonstrate faith without there being an action behind it. Baptism is an step of action we are biblically responsible to take. It’s very simple. Obeying the gospel is our laboring and even our commission. Obeying is an action and a work that we voluntarily participate in. Thus, to say that obeying the gospel is not a work is more than dishonest both biblically and linguistically.

@Tebbs31 I agree. It's a 1 time work to be baptized. It's not a work, as some will say. There are works of the law which don't save. Whether they call it a "salvation by works" or not doesn't really matter because we're to obey the gospel, repent, be baptized in the name of Jesus and do the works that God gives us.

Baptism seemed to certainly be popular! 😂 Search the scriptures, my friend. Paul found believers who had ALREADY been baptized by John, and he believed so strongly that they should complete the work of the gospel that he re-baptized them in the name of Jesus. Cornelius and all his house received the Holy Ghost, and Peter still baptized them afterwards. Jesus Christ said to John that he (Christ) must be baptized “to fulfill all righteousness” (Matthew 3:14-15).

Not so. Works are necessary. We serve a just God. If He will say well done, and He cannot lie, then we must do something aka works.

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭10‬ ….. we “Should” walk in them. Salvation by grace is part of the salvation process. Jesus is Salvation. It is by his grace that we can be saved. Also the Gospel according to 1 Corinthians 15. Also his Name. Also believing. We do not believe that works will actually save you. But we believe that you must have works to be saved. James clearly states in his epistle that faith without works is dead. So “faith alone” that Martin Luther speaks of isn’t Biblically correct. Because if that faith is alone, it’s dead. The Bible even teaches us that faith wrought Abraham’s works, and that through works faith was made perfect, not only that, but a few verses later it says that a man is justified by works and not faith alone. We believe in one God. We believe that His name is Jesus. We believe that you must be baptized in Jesus name for the remission of sins. We believe in repentance and being filled with the Holy Ghost. We believe that when you are filled with His Holy Spirit, it creates and inward development of a holy life and production of good fruit. We believe worship is a lifestyle of being sold out to God and loving Him with all. But for all these things, we still can’t be saved. Because we’re not righteous or holy on our own. We can’t be. But through the righteousness which is imputed by faith, we have access to God’s grace. So when we stand before Him, He will judge each of us according to our WORKS. And no matter what we may have done right, at some point we have sinned. We don’t deserve heaven. But when God looks at us, if He sees we were born again of the water and of the Spirit, and that we did everything we could to serve Him every day and loved Him with all, to honor the life that we lived for Him and faith that we kept, He’ll extend grace to us to make up for our insufficiency and shortcomings, and that’s how we’ll be saved. Not by works of righteousness we have done, but by His own purpose and grace which was in Christ Jesus before the world began. Faith brings forth works, and if we labor for the kingdom with all that we have, God will give us grace. When we are filled with faith, it will bring forth a life of works, and through that faith (which will lead to works), we will be lead to grace, by which we are saved. If you don’t agree or believe me, or if this didn’t make sense, please read James 2:14-26. He makes it very clear the relationship between faith and works and I think you may find it helpful, and if not helpful, at the very least it should be interesting to you :)

Noah found grace in the eyes of God . He was saved by grace but he still had to build the ark just as God commanded him to do . God never changes, He is the same yesterday today and forever . Today you are saved by grace through faith . It’s His grace that leads you to repent , be baptized , it’s by His grace that Jesus gives you His Holy Spirt ❤

If God gives you work to do and you refuse, then where is your faith? If the person says they'll go and do the work but don't, then are they obeying or disobeying? If the person repents and does the work, then they display their faith. To obey the gospel and to be baptized in the name of Jesus is not a work.
