Everytime Salvatore appears on the screen, he just completely takes over...and the chemistry between him and Marco D'Amore is fascinating. For me, Gomorrah is definitely in Top 3 tv shows of all time, it is soo good I don't even have words to do it justice. Can't wait for season 5. Viva Italia :)

So true, Rude Dude! I recommend it always. It's unbeatable. Gripping, gritty, graphic and supremely smart. LOVE IT. We only have seasons 1-3 in the US. I'm dying for seasons 4 and 5 and L'Immortale. @@9372hw7xbwb Probably "Rome" and "The Expanse" if I mix all the genres. Other shows about mafia would have to be "Suburra" and "Mafiosa". I also liked "Narcos", "Godless" (this one made me like Westerns, which I never have before..), "The Night off", "Oz", "Firefly","The Boys" and "BlackBooks" is just the best. What is your top 5?

Thanks for sharing Ian! I loved talking to Salvatore - glad you enjoyed it too. I watched ZeroZeroZero too - it was a good placeholder while waiting for Gomorrah. I accidentally had it set to "English" one time when I started watching (yikes!). When I suddenly heard Ciro and Genny speaking English it totally freaked me out. Subtitles are the only way to go! 🙌🏻

@@ReallyFamous the script is like marijuana the moment you start getting it you’d never pass a scene without understanding the whole of what they have said seriously I rewind ⏪ some scenes like two to four times to understand it fully believe me even Italians themselves sometimes can’t get what gennaro s saying when he’s outraged ... I’m also become a fan of the Neapolitan Italian I like it and it’s more manly 😂😂😂

Season 5 as a whole was okay, not great, the series finale though was great, many people don't/won't like it, but ultimately fits with the tone and theme of the show and the reality of that life.

The acting skills and delivery of lines in Gomorrah are some of the best I’ve ever seen. It reminds me of the French film, A prophet, which is also in subtitles but deals with many of the same topics. The locations and also lighting in Gomorrah are also well thought out and always match the beats of the story. I enjoy films and tv programs that put the story and character development before anything else and don’t worry about appealing to the masses. This means they can capture an audience organically and not in a forced manned, due to writing themselves into a corner.

Great interview, bellissima!! I love Gommorah, binge watched seasons 1-3 and continued watching up to the last season(5). Napoli is home to my in laws, hubby is napolitan. Italians do speak english, it was great hearing Salvatore speak in english. The show is a success. I loved it not only because i call napoli my second home but the suspense, heart and drama Gomorrah illustrate.

The best series I have watched in a long time. Salvatore and Marco nailed it. I can't imagine any other Italian actor doing it. Suspense is driving every season to the dot. I almost dropped to the floor in first 5 minutes of watching L'immortale. I did not expect Ciro to be back. And last scene from L'immortale... I cried! Cannot wait for season 5! I hope those 2 become brothers in arms again, but I might be so wrong. You just never know.

I'm in US as well 😁. East coast, New England. However I stream TV from overseas. And we have Sky... but I dont understand much in Italian, so gotta wait for translation anyway. My husband speaks Italian but he is not interested in translating each episode. And you know how important each sentence is.

It’s worth checking out Romanzo Criminale also….it was a fantastic show. It only had two seasons as Stefano Sollima wanted it to end at the height of it’s popularity and the story had been told. That show paved the way for Gomorrah and Suburra.

After I watched Narcos i thought “how cool would a show like this be that is in Italy”. Eventually I found Gomorra and now that it is over I think a hybrid show of the Soprano’s and Gomorra would be amazing

I totally agree. LOVE the Italian! One time I accidentally started an episode in English and it freaked me out! I couldn't get my hands on the remote control fast enough. I was almost scarred for life... 😅

@@ReallyFamous Yes but as an italian i tell you: that's not standard italian at all. We have italian subtitles too in the series cause they speak strict neapolitan dialect which is almost unintelligible for other italians.

Happy to say I've also been practicing a bit of Italian and I sometimes (but not always...I'm just a beginner after all) notice differences in what they say and what I think it should be in Italian. I just love it all -- standard Italian and the dialect specific to Napoli.

@@ReallyFamous I'm glad you like italian languages, we have many dialects and they can be extremely different to each other., even in the North. As a fun fact I always tell my American friends that the impression of italian that I generally hear in American stand up comedy shows or similar is actually based on a mix of how neapolitans and sicilians speak because that very exaggerated intonation isn't standard italian (which is smoother and more flat than what people think). I like those dialects anyway but as I said I barely understand what they are talking about most of the times ahah

Yessssss, cannot wait for it! Tip: rewatch it from the beginning while you're waiting for season 4. It's just as good the second time around, and I NEVER watch shows twice.
