I see Big Sam get called a ‘dinosaur’ a lot on social media. But this man was years ahead of anyone else bringing in the sports scientists at Bolton. Even now can still do a fantastic job guaranteeing survival at most clubs in the bottom half. A very underrated manager who gets judged on his personality rather than his record.
@tgmartin
@tgmartin 4 года назад
He was, in fairness, ahead of his time with the whole sports science thing. Howard Wilkinson had a similar reputation in the 90s, even though he was the first to experiment with nutritionists, etc and he restructured the academy which reaped great rewards shortly after he left

Alex Saynor agreed. With little money it was fantastic watching ‘little’ Bolton do so well, great man manager. You only have to look at what happened to them when he left. Did well at West Ham and Newcastle as well, he guaranteed you football in the premiership, which a lot of clubs would kill for now.

As a Sunderland supporter I have no ill feeling towards Sam for leaving us to take the England job - no English manger would turn that job down. However, I've also always said that if he had stayed with us then I'm absolutely sure we wouldn't dropped down the level we are currently at. He would have kept us strong, steady and hard to beat in the Premiership.

I like Allardyce, its a shame he was pushed out as England manager. It would have been good to see him have a proper chance at it. A manager should be sacked for footballing reasons imo and not a disingenuous beer fuelled sting by a bunch of phonies just to make a few headlines. There's worse things gone wrong in the world than that. Pathetic.

"...the attacking player can't enter the box until the defender has touched the ball." That's not the rule/law, Sam. Knocking a rule/law change (which has definitely helped the game as the rule/law it was pointless before) without even understanding it is poor form. Deserves credit for some things, but clearly isn't as open-minded as he'd want you to believe.
@benitotommassi5820
@benitotommassi5820 4 года назад
31:50. Exactly. It's exacerbated by the new breed of "football" fan, those who sit on their FIFA video games and have barely ever kicked a ball or even watched a game in their life now coming out of the woodwork following a team because it's fashionable. So many of these plebs have their own RU-vid channels and talk absolute nonsense about football, which then bleeds into the minds of their audiences and spreads this idiocy like wild fire. Just pick any football you tube channel/video; they talk stats more than football itself, which is the immediate give away that they know fuck all.

Can someone, anyone, please explain to me why 'big Sam' was given the honour of this Q and A?? I was astounded when I saw it on RU-vid. Astounded Apart from the opening introduction, I could not stomach watching this interview. But I'm sure one question he wasn't asked, was why his very brief career as the national Manager for England came to such a sudden end. A job that lasted all of one game. Yes, he has a great track record as a football manager, but he should never have been employed again after 'chasing' money which lead to his resignation as England manager. And by the way, he was never fit to hold that post in the 1st place. And the FA have a lot to answer in that regard. Doesn't say much for them. He is not a good role model for the young people sitting in that audience or anyone watching it on line. Like a lot of folk in modern society, he can never get enough money. Greed being celebrated in front our eyes, and dressed up as being some sort of upstanding decent person. Enjoy it Sam, but any honest people out there know what you are all about.

Up until a month ago he had never been relegated as a manager and let's be honest, that West Brom team was not Premier league quality and I don't think anyone would have kept that team up. Owners of football clubs are far more interested in staying in the Premier league and not losing millions than they are the supporters being entertained.
