I've been aware of the Heritage Ascent guitars for 6 months. I held one in my hands when I traveled to Singapore earlier this year. It feels similar in build to an Epiphone Les Paul Special II, with bolt-on neck and hard poly finish. Here's some additional information you might like to know - Heritage Guitars is now owned by the same Singapore company that also owns MONO & Harmony. They also own Swee Lee, the largest guitar retailer in Southeast Asia. A USA Heritage H-150 that sells for US$2600 in USA, sells for US$4200 at Swee Lee in Singapore. I'm not sure if they ever intend to sell the cheap Heritage imports outside of Asia. In Singapore, you can buy the Heritage Ascent for US$220, and if you find that you like it, they will let you trade it up for a real Heritage guitar, i.e. you take US$220 off the price of the USA Heritage when you turn it in for the USA guitar.

Thanks for the background info about the involvement of Bandlab, which also happens to own Rolling Stone Magazine. There is a relatively active online forum called "Heritage Owners Club" which may be of interest to anyone who owns or is thinking of buying a Heritage guitar. There is a post by "Philapete" dated 1/9/22 entitled "Heritage History" which has more details about Heritage ownership changes up to early 2022.

I think the reason that Heritage is making an import line is because it looks like it is only targeted towards Asia and markets where Heritage doesn’t have any brand awareness. They want to build awareness and provide a jumping off point to attract international customers to the main U.S. Heritage guitar line. Heritage doesn’t need to this to attract awareness in the U.S. because it is better known. A good indication of what Heritage is thinking is that there is no mention of this cheaper import line on Heritage‘s U.S. website and it does not appear that they can be purchased in the U.S. unless you want to import them from abroad.

I don't know that would have the desired effect. If you know the Heritage brand, you know their story, you know they make really high end guitars that are well respected and very expensive, but you can't afford one, then you may be inclined to buy an import version. If you only know a brand through entry level budget models, the likelihood of buying a ultra high end model from them is very slim. If you found out later today that Firefly, Harley Benton, or any of the brands that are known for entry level budget guitars, had an ultra high end model that cost $4k, how likely would you be to buy one? I'm betting that almost no one would buy one, even if you found some great reviews on them.

Agree on Reverend. I have an Eastsider S, which is a single bound tele style with 3 single coils and a Wilkinson vibrato. It is a FANTASTIC instrument!!!

I had that same model when they came out for a few months. Best neck on any Tele I ever had. Unfortunately it was about 2 pounds too heavy. I even tried to retrofit /convert it to a standard hardtail by filling the cavity with quick wood filler and ditching the trem & block but it was still too heavy. I thought about keeping the neck and replacing the body with a swamp ash Warmoth replacement, but then remembered about the shiteous 6-bolt nonsense they use. Sold it at a loss. Never again.

@@escargotomy Hi escargot. Sorry you got a heavy one! I don't remember how much mine weighs, I got it from Wildwood so I'm pretty sure they told me when I bought it. It seems to weigh about the same as my other four teles. If you liked it, maybe you could try Wildwood.... Cheers!

@@brianmiller3287 Yeah I keep an eye out but they are never much less than 8 pounds. I have a feeling Gibson gets all the good Korina and Reverend gets what's left. At this point in my lifer after 40 years of playing I only go for the lightest guitars I can find. I have a home made Tele with custom Warmoth parts (Ash/Maple) that's 6 pounds, 12 oz. It's about as light as you can make a Tele. But I do miss that Pete Anderson neck for sure.

Love my Yamaha Pacifica Standard Plus. It's on par with my Fender American Pro II Strat but with more features (locking tuners, stainless frets). Not cheap but cheaper than an Am Pro.

That sucks about the pick thing. I have a little box of picks I’ve acquired over the last 30 years. Learning about guitar stuff in the 90s was like paying for the experience of groping around in the dark for gold nuggets. Word of mouth and guitar magazines, and half that turned out to be wrong

I find it funny how polarizing prs really is. It seems like most people either love or hate their guitars. Im a prs lover. I love my 245, 594, and the dgt. I despise gibson and epiphone, but prs is my go to. Fender/squier is my backup. Im also one of “those guys” that prefer to put a few bucks into a squier instead of paying the fender price. Im not a brand snob per se, but i just put the money into my classic vibe strat and would now put it up against any fender ive ever played. Its an hss unit that does great with bluegrass, yet can flip the duncan jb on (bridge) and hang with most heavy metal demands. I put a set of duncans in my 245 and its a moster now too. The 594 and dgt are monsters already.

I have owned 9 PRS core model guitars from the mid 90s through a 2023 594. All gone. I want to love them but they just don’t work for me. I have no issue with them or people that love them.

Missed the 'cast this time...was on the road (among other things, I picked up an MIJ ESP Eclipse Custom w/ a Floyd and EMGs. Not a lot of $$, but totally awesome...so maybe an "underdog"?) Official "Underdog Choices": CURRENT: AIO (All in One) and Vola // VINTAGE: MIJ Matsumoku (many brands and models to choose from) and MIM Fender (especially the "Special Strats"). Useless info: Around 2009 I was living in Chandler AZ and had Phillip do an excellent setup and pickup work on my red '85 strat. Happens I bought that guitar at the Sam Ash store in NYC. He also sold me a bitchin' blue tweed Fender case. The guitar was stolen and I am old now.

Everybody complains about GC but I’ve never had a bad experience in a GC. I went to the Sam Ash in PHX 1 time and never went back. Not a comfortable experience.

I am sorry to hear about Rivolta guitar QC or lack thereof. . . I had been seriously considering getting a solid-body 12-string from them. But in the course of learning about different brands offering electric 12-strings, I stumbled upon the semi-hollow Reverend Airwave 12-string. It has been designed from the ground-up as a 12-string, so it has some unique features including a bridge that allows for intonation of individual strings, a treble-bleed circuit, a bass-contour control for tightening up the low-end or re-voicing the pickups and more. It's now at the top of my list.

I had a Godan Slim. Nice guitar, although the width of the neck was a little too narrow for my hand. I wasn't playing it often, so I sold it. After watching you demo the guitar, I can see myself playing a few standards (not classical) on the guitar. Might have to shake my wallet out to see of I can get to the purchase price.

I have 4 Heritage guitars. They are all superb. 2 H-555s, H-157 CM and a H-147. They have more Gibson DNA than Gibson now has. I have 3 Gibsons and Heritage is equal or better in every way.

Vola, ever since they went direct and cut their prices by almost half, became one of the best underdog brands on the market. You get Suhr level quality at less than half the price.

I've been playing guitar for 25 years, and didn't know about Heritage guitars until it was mentioned on this channel. I don't think they are even on the level of G&L, Schecter, Danelectro, Suhr, etc recognition-wise. I do hope Heritage's brand grows massively though.

I got the Dave Grohl Epiphone/DG-335 as a gift this Thursday evening/yesterday. It's fantastic it has a chunky/large neck with a nut over 43mm wide. I love a large neck but noticed how large it was immediately, I got over that pretty quick & it felt VERY comfortable. I've been a Foo Fighters fan since I bought "The Colour & The Shape" album in the summer of 1998, little late to the party. Saw them for the first time at a festival here in Saskatchewan, Canada in 2000 after Chris Shifflet joined.

The main appeal to Heritage guitars is that they are made in Kalamazoo in the original Gibson factory, using old-school techniques and making small-batch instruments. An import line is about the worst possible thing they could do to their brand; it's so stupid.

After playing Gibson electrics for over forty years, I can no longer justify spending the extra money over the new Epiphones. Gibson may still have “the vibe” as you say, Phil, but for the money the 2024 IGCS Epiphones are superb and truly outstanding instruments for the money. I’m still stunned at how they have raised the bar over the past 5 years. Epiphone used to be second rate to me, but that’s no longer the case. They are a contender now. Kudos to Gibson’s leadership team. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Bankruptcy Court determines the acceptable Sale Price... Taking into account Assets, and Creditors owed. They do not take into account past sales, revenue, or "Blue Sky," basically the value of the Brand Name. Also suggest: Adding markers into your videos when you change subjects or put a graphic on screen when there are major subjects...

I wish Kiesel was still Carvin. They were already established among guitarists and known for building excellent guitars at very reasonable prices! I have an older super strat model that is one of the best guitars I've ever played. I will never part with that guitar. Now, their guitars are just not the value they used to be. They are just as expensive as everyone else and they don't even use a middle man.
