I sang this around the camp fire at a school camp I was on as a 14 year old back in 1984. The music teacher playing an acoustic guitar started to sing it and I was the only one who knew the lyrics to the whole song! The rest of the group just looked at us with surprise and gave us a big round of applause after we finished the song as they all just listened to the two of us sing. Lol My parents were teens in the 50's and I grew up listening to all their records. I've been a rocker ever since. It's a memory that will stay with me forever. RIP Sam Cooke. A tremendous talent taken far too soon! Thank you for uploading this classic song.

i have 3 daughters and one son. i taught all three girls to dance, waltz, jive, cha cha and chalypso, and whenever we go to weddings or some other celebrations we make a point to dance to what i consider my music. the girls seem to enjoy it.

I grew up in the 70's, but had parents who loved music of all kind, and Sam was my mother favorite, and mine as well so sad he left us all to soon.

i was born in 67 20 years age diff between oldest brother 9 years diff from closest so I got hit with everything from Frank Sinatra Elvis Presley, Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, Sam Cooke up to sly. family Stone Led Zeppelin u name it, but I really have a place in my heart for Sam Cooke his voice. He was a little before my time, but wonderful singer wonderful songwriter and in a time where African-American people they got screwed out of their music Sam owned his songs unlike a lot of other performers, even white ones got got crappy deals, but especially your black artist and he was tenacious enough to stick to his guns write his own music and own it. Been a big fan of his since a little boy .here’s the irony I get divorced five years ago I live in Philadelphia. I met a woman from Southern California end up moving to Southern California five years ago and about two minutes from where I live Sam Cooke was murdered. I said murdered self-defense. It’s bull crap but anyways, I think that’s really ironic being a big fan. I knew somewhere in LA but LA is big. I often drive by it and wonder what if ???his influence to the music world but probably been one of the most astounding. it’s people like Sam Cook Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder, Eric Clapton that influenced me to pick up an instrument and I picked up five of them and I’ll never be famous and that’s OK because 99% people become musicians aren’t I wouldn’t trade it for one bit has been my best friend confident psychologist, my mother and father my brother sister to me music. It has kept me from going insane giving me a lifetime of enjoyment 24 years professional musicians. I never worked t a day in my life.
