The Sam Houston Tollway is a nice toll road with only 5-level interchanges, also I like the update on Hwy 288 to Hwy 225 they did a good job of replacing that old 4-lane highway to an 8-lane highway.

It’s kind of interesting how toll booths still exist on a lot of the tolled sections (Sam Houston Tollway), considering that the agencies (and TxDOT if they ever had roads using cash tolls) seem to have a lot of their toll roads converted to cashless tolling (TxTag, EZTAG, TollTag and Pay By Mail).

TXDOT originally had cash tolls on its Austin area toll roads, as did NTTA in the Dallas area, before going fully cashless.

Update 2024: they seem to have gotten rid of cash tolls now

TX Beltway 8/Sam Houston Tollway is Houston's 2nd beltway and is tolled. This will be an alternate of I-610 TX and can you believe how busy the 610 is compared to TX Beltway 8? Greater Houston have 3 controlled access beltways and the 3rd one is TX 99/Grand Pkwy which is a partial beltway and is also tolled.

It will be even more interesting when the southern section of the Grand Parkway is completed (I-69 SW to I-45 Gulf Freeway). To get a full beltway, the segment from I-45 to SH-146 (Segment A) will also be needed.
