Season 1 was just incredibly dark compared to the rest of the series.

And also proves how good and underrated an actress Amanda Tapping is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It wasn't terrible. It was just very hit or miss, and the misses were pretty terrible.

Most of it was.

It was everybody getting used to each other and a lot of dark issues like Jack's son and surrogate son, Daniel's wife, etc.

They totally could do that. Considering she's supposed to keep it touch with the program - after all she is the one to send SG-1 back to their time when they accidentally travel to far in the future from 1969.

She had been raised by Dr Fraiser and Carter (a medic and an engineer), she has Naqahdah in her blood (which means that she can use unique Goa'uld technology), she was born on another planet (which means that maybe she is really motivated to colonize other planets), and a goa'uld lord is personnaly responsible for killing her original family AND almost killed her because of genetic manipulation.They already have a deep backgroud story for this charcter. But, I'd like to see Rya'c too.

Yeah. Rya'c would make a good pick too. Though I see great potential for both, and since their respective storylines have been already estabilished in-depth, I wonder what plot could they be involved in. But that's for the show writers to figure that one out. But they certainly have quite a bit of characters that could rise for a new show.

If they ever did bring SG1 back... i could see Cassie actually joining the SGC... maybe as a medic... or something to honor Dr Frasier. The daughter takes the place of the mother? I'd like that.

Any episode from SG-1 that isn't season 8, 9 or 10 hasn't.

In this episode, Cassie (the little girl) was found as the last survivor on an alien planet wiped out by some unknown plague (it's explained in a later episode what exactly happened to them). They discovered she had some kind of bomb implanted in her brain? I think, I'm not sure what kind or where because it's been a while since I've seen it, but they couldn't stop it so they drugged her and took her way down to a blast area because it would have wiped out the whole mountain they were in or something, but she woke up before Sam could leave and at that point she had gotten attached to and loved Cassie so she couldn't leave her knowing she was awake and alone. So she basically sentenced herself to death, which is why O'Neil was ordering her to leave. It was a really good episode. I might not remember all the details exactly right, but I recommend watching it, and the whole Stargate SG-1 show.

nah. it's upscaled to an HD resolution, but if you look closely the detail is not up to par with regular HD. i beleive the first few seasons were shot on 16mm film, and although you can derive high resolutions from the film the show was mastered (with special effects) in standard definition. for MGM to create and HD or 4k version they would likely redo the special effects which will be too costly for them and likely not get enough profit back. Star Trek the Next Generation actually remastered and redid the effects for the blu ray, it cost a lot of money but profits were not made as expected.
