I have no idea why but I love the gritty, angry, film noir Sam. Seeing such a shift in his character is legendary. Max really does keep him in check as much as Sam keeps Max in check. HUGE props to Telltale on this episode!
Personally I think it's because we see a serious side that we have not seen before from Sam&Max. We get to see serious detective work (actually chasing leads, asking questions and checking answers.) We see Serious violence. (Sam Intentionally hits people out of anger and his gun is treated as a real threat.) And we see a Serious Sam. (Without Max and with a darker tone. There is no constant wizecracking and rediculous solutions.) It's almost like watching a real detective show/film. I wish they had done more of it, but it may have gotten old. But I must say, it's probably my all time favorite moment of Sam&Max.
I think it's also because we get to see actual, serious violence instead of implied violence. Plus, it's cool to see that Sam is so dedicated to his friend.
The fact that sam is all noir and mean in the beginning, then once he finds out his partner is still alive his mood changes to normal warms my heart, he cares deeply about his little buddy
Sam saying "little buddy?" then going into a full angry act of vengeance for his best friend is the most wholesome thing ever in the entire Sam and Max series.
Just to give you guys a heads up, YES, there are some dialogue options that I'm probably missing. The reason for this? I either forgot or decided not to include it because I wanted to reduce the length of this video.
I think he does that whenever you select that? I don’t know for sure, but also i know it’s a reference to “these boots are made for walking”. It is funny to think that he’s going crazy instead ahah.

53:39 So do we think they're gonna move this a few years up for the remaster? Cause the line still works lol, but making the joke now be that Paperweite's museum is really off could be funny too
You know, Monsieur Paperwaite was almost correct. It was actually the year 2022 that everything went down the drain and will eventually become a hellhole
Thank you so much for posting this, been getting into Sam and Max lately and I don't have the time to play the games. I watch this omw to and from work and school, and before going to bed :)
1:33:14 I need to know more about Max’s cousin Lucretia. Between her and aunt Tillie the Lunar Lander, the Max family tree grows more intriguing by the minute.
