Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman met with the media following Arkansas' 48-10 Week 11 loss to Auburn Saturday in Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville.
It just isn’t working, life is Hard sometimes. I got nothing but love for you Sam, It hurts to see this. I wish you peace & the Absolute Best in Life. This is the End of The Chapter,, it’s time for a new Beginning
It's over. Hunter has a job to do and I trust he has already started it. Love Sam Pittman all you want, but they played like they are satisfied with their nil and the coaches are satisfied with their positions and salaries. Time to find the answers.
So hey ,Sam is a good man. He had his tile at his dream job and he clearly didn't have the experience. But he will leave a Millionaire and hopefully in good standings with the fan base. Either way he will retire more comfortably than 99% of anyone . He turned the program around and it's time for someone else to move us to the level.
@@russellwright5788 He improved a program that was being crushed at home by San Jose state and N. Texas at home by 40 points to a program that up until the past month has closely competed with every opponent
Great guy, i really wish it would have worked out because he is an easy guy to like and root for. It isn't working though. I hope he resigns or he is removed soon because this isn't healthy for him, the team or the fanbase.
“And things of that nature”… love that response to nearly every question. And his response about his job and not being worried, I’d just be honest and say I’ve not done my job. But please don’t say you aren’t worried about your job sitting at 3-7 and getting your butt kicked at home.
@@chriswise7978 Then he should resign and return the money because he hasn't earned even half of it. If you don't want criticism then don't be in the public light. It's very simple those kids who actually want to be a Razorback is who I feel bad for not a 60+ year old man that's a multi millionaire. The world is tough and it's teaching Sam a lesson hope he learns from it. As a person I have no problem with Sam but as a HC he deserves everything he is receiving right now.
@@lphillips6204 Pittman is/was the head coach. He doesn't work with the offensive line anymore. If you want a scalp for how poorly the offensive line plays, Cody "Chumlee" Kennedy is your target.
@@perniciouspete4986 brother …I understand that as the HC you delegate responsibilities & duties to the “managers” however if you have a particular expertise in a certain area you don’t take a complete hands off approach and not lend your knowledge to help the team. He may not be involved day to day however his eye is very much trained to instinctively understand the game from the perspective of the O-Line. If there’s one aspect of football that he knows inside & out it’s the O-Line & any drop of blood coming from there should be stopped immediately. Our O-Line is TRASH and for a career O-Line coach to let that happen is treasonous especially as the HC. So yes…I will have that Chumlee scalp AND Sam’s 🤣
Bama fan here I've had respect for Pittman and KJ for years now Pittman's failures fall on his coaching staff. Another program would be glad to have him recruiting and running their offensive program. He will always have a job getting paid millions, but maybe head coaching isn't for him.
We need a member of the press conference to whistle. I’d love to hear a “I like that whistle,” from Sam. Houston Nutt went 5-6, 4-7, then 10-4 in 2006. 10 win season under construction.
"we don't have a locker room issue, we got our butt kicked today." Earlier he says that Auburn wasn't that much better than Arkansas. Clearly, it is a coaching problem!!
That was our chance when Dwight got the interception but there was still no energy enthusiasm and fight on the sidelines or with any of the players pathetic coaching pathetic playing
Sam you did great job as the skipper of the HOGS!!! You did what many thought was impossible, making it to several bowel games after playing the hardest schedule in college football!! Sir you did a fine job for our HOGS and we all appreciate it!!! Thank you Sam!! Whatever is best for our HOGS!!! WPS!! Whatever is best for our HOGS!! WPS
I love Sam Pittman and a week ago if you asked me if he should go I said an emphatic no. This week I am not so sure. I feel this season these post-game interviews have a Chad Morris feel to them. Not taking accountability for the lack of discipline and leadership in the locker room and in the field. I don’t care if it was red-shirts watching Polar Express in that locker room. If you are in the Arkansas team you are part of the team and you should be in there getting your butts chewed just like everyone else. Now, maybe that is not what was going on in the other locker room. If that is the case then that is a problem too. The majority of these players will end their football careers in college and Sam likes to talk about life. This season has been a prime opportunity to not only infuse those messages after a win but I think more importantly after a loss. Most of all, leadership is when you stop making excuses about how the other team was better prepared or outplayed you. What are YOU going to do to flip that next week? I just don’t see that fire in SP anymore so while I love the guy maybe it is time to move on. Honestly, I would consider a move to Big 12 as well. We are simply not at the level of SEC.
Coach Pittman deserves credit for restoring a measure of pride to the Hogs program after the Morris debacle. He will always own the 2021 Texas win and breaking the long losing streaks to A&M, Auburn, LSU and Mizzou. But it's become clear that he likely hit his ceiling as a HC back in 2021. It's time for Yurachek to send Sam off graciously and bring in a HC who can help the Hogs consistently achieve on the field
@@williammock-bf3ekExactly... it's hard to think of a winning current Power 5 coach jumping to Arkansas, regardless of how much they're offered. And there are some talented young guns out there at Group of 5 schools like Jamey Chadwell at Liberty and GJ Kinne at TX State, but hiring them would be risky
@@williammock-bf3ek that’s what an AD is for…they have to figure it out. Just because us fans can’t see it doesn’t mean that there aren’t options & deals to be made. The AD has to get out there and sell it period. But you can’t just sit and let this shit continue bro…you keep Sam around and the perception of the program only gets worse which makes it an even harder sell.
My thoughts on Sam Pittman and the Razorback Football Program: I love Sam, and think he's a terrific guy. I think he did a fantastic job of pulling us out of the cellar after the Chad Morris debacle, and Sam obviously did a lot of things right in those first few years. Some of that might have been the result of good assistant coaches that were on staff, helping Sam get into the swing of his first head coaching job. I think that Barry Odom (a former head coach himself) must have really brought a lot of his experience to the table those first few years to get Sam and the program on track. I'm with most fans, I hate the coaching carousel and want a coach to come here and stay here. Sam Pittman fit that long-term, career type of coach, I think, that all Arkansas fans wanted; A good guy, down-to-earth, talks like us, and one that understands the culture of our state and football program, and a coach that WANTS to coach at the University of Arkansas! Sam has all of the intangibles that we, as fans, want in our head coach. With all of that being said, Sam himself knows it's about winning, and unfortunately he just isn't getting that done as the Head Hog. If we want to have a program that has consistency and ongoing competitiveness, we MUST have a staff that can recruit, but also coach up, the more than likely, 3 star and few 4 star athletes that we can draw at Arkansas. We have seen that happen before with other coaches. It can happen, but you MUST have coaches that can turn those 3 star athletes into solid, role players that WANT to play for the Razorbacks and give it there all EVERY SINGLE WEEK! I'm afraid it's time to move on from Sam. Maybe look at the coach from Kansas, Lance Leopold. Kansas probably doesn't have the money or facilities (for football at least) and Kansas doesn't get any better recruiting than Arkansas honestly. I realize that they are in the, not-as-competitive, Big 12. But they are winning among their peers there. Leopold is just one of those coaches that seems to be able to do MORE with LESS by coaching them up. That's what we MUST have here at Arkansas, at least until we can win consistently and then recruit better off of that success. That's just one name there. I'm sure that there are other coaches that would be good too. I just feel like we MUST hire a head coach that is GREAT at taking average talent and winning with it. Just my thoughts...
These press conferences are sad. How many times can a HC say,"we got out manned, we got pushed around, and say I don't truly know what wrong with the player". Rocket shouldn't play next week and KJ needs to be taken out after the 1st qt.
I think we need a post post game press conference after coach has had a chance to analyze film. Maybe we can get some real answers about what went wrong.
Is it just me or did it look like Auburn knew what the Hogs were doing all game? Then again, that all comes down to coaching. Things need to change, and soon!!!
Auburn defense has been good for majority of the season, the only reason Auburn had been in games up to now. The offense is starting to come around now though.
Freeze has beat this coach before when he coached at Liberty. So he already knew how he played. There's also films that coaches watch before games. So, he did know the plays but not because he intercepted any info. He knew because he has experience with teams this guy has coached.
@@lisa227382 let's not act like Freeze has always been kicking Arkansas ass because it's totally opposite. He use to have Ole Miss high and beating Bama but could never beat Arkansas.
@@TheRealSpenco who said anything about him always beating arkansas? I said he has beat him before so he already knew how he played. Sensitive Arkansas fan? It's okay. I'm an Auburn fan 😂 I understand the emotional roller coaster.
I’ve seen better tacklers on high school teams! No offensive line. Coaches have ruined KJ and Rocket’s year after they gave so much to the team in the past.
Arkansas was a 3 point favorite and lost by 38 points. No excuse for that tepid performance. A great college football program must be built around a system of discipline. Discipline accepted by the whole football team for the sake of winning. A football team must mentally buy into that system of discipline. Players that will not accept that discipline must be excised from the team by the head coach. The head coach and his assistant coaches must all be on the same page in administering that discipline. An assistant coach unable to do so must be fired & replaced. All that along with a good physical development program is how a head coach builds a winning football program. The last three Arkansas football coaches (Bielema, Morris & Pittman), think it just takes patting players on the back and trying to be their best bud. They have all been bad hires. Yurachek needs a head coach hire with some grit and experience. Forget the nice guy junk for the press & fan base. They cannot coach.
Doesn't matter what they say, this has been a terrible year for Arkansas Football, and unfortunately the season is not over yet. If major changes are not made very very soon in the coaching lineup then the future looks pretty dismal. The Transfer Portal will not be kind to a team that tolerates Failure!!
I think they need to bring in a professional to check for microphones to see if someone is getting an unfair advantage by getting our game plan. Way way to many times, the opposition looks like they know are playbook. I smell a rat.
He says they got whipped physically. There's a lot of talk about the o-line. Somebody clue me in. Is the line undersized for this conference? Is it inexperienced or slow? Or are they just disorganized because of subpar coaching? I have some ideas where to look for the problem, but I'm kinda new at watching this team. I realize this conference is a place where being mediocre to good isn't good enough to avoid looking terrible. Beyond that, I'm looking for clues.
You see texas a m is about to do what needs to be done, and their in alot better position then we are but they dont accept losing, but arkansas not only accepts it but embraces it.
I like sam but this sux we got to go elsewhere obviously if we don't fire him we will suck like we almost always do in football. My goodness fb must be turning over in his grave for his life work to come to this it just sux
@@brettrobinson2901 I have had faith but there isn’t more defending one can do for him. We arnt going far with him anymore. He did his job. It’s time to move on. We arnt going 6-6 this year man. Probably 4-8. If that.
IT is the responsibility of the HEAD COACH to know why you got your butt kicked at home by a very average football team. The fact that you "don't know" is very concerning. Every week, you say "we need to go back and figure it out." I love to have a beer with you but you must win games to be a head coach of an esteemed Division 1 team. You are 24-24 as the Hogs coach. That is NOT GOOD ENOUGH in year 4.
I like Sam Pittman. He did things right and speaks honesty. The only mistake he made was making KJ starter at Qb. Criswell is a much better player at Qb. Tempo or no tempo doesn’t matter to a real ball player.
Hogs are screwed: TAMU job opening up Florida job probably opening up MissState & South Carolina possibly opening up SoCal possibly opening up Michigan possibly opening up as Harbaugh pushed to NFL With the exception of South Carolina & MissState, the rest are ELITE programs with better facilities & NIL $$ than Arkansas. We will get an average coach once Pittman is fired at end of season (my guess). 🥺😫
Can’t wait for a Trey biddy walk and talk after the piggies showed no hart against the most average auburn team your going to match up with. Mass exodus of players at end might as well restart coaching too
Reporter: “Sam, are you concerned about your position?” … Sam: “Why should I? … I got my moneeeey” Have always respected Coach Pittman as a man. But today, he should have just been honest and said “us coaches, especially me, have failed”.
Auburn was that much better than us today, Coach Pitman!!! What world do you live in? Oh yeah, a six million dollar world!! We don't need to win now. We need to start developing for next year!!!
Sam is done. Its not about how much you love Arkansas. He is not a head coach, he is too soft!! We need a coach with some fire that's loved and feared. A coach that's going to get on guys asses for a bad performance. Coaches included. If he loves Arkansas so much...SHOW US!!! Even in this interview there is no passion, no anger, no disappointment. I just hear woe is me, sad puppy dog. No balls!! And shout out to Steve Sullivan he is the only sports guy i have heard with the balls to flat out say Sam Pittman is not a head coach!! The rest of you guys are scared to ask tough questions to get kicked out the media room. Smh
I swear Sam says “I don’t know” more than any coach I’ve seen. Either he’s lying or he’s clueless…neither are good for us. With a coach like this it’s no wonder why our players don’t have any fight in them.
Lots of the time he's protecting someone else instead of throwing them under the bus. He's just taking the responsibility for everything, just as any person in charge ought to do.
@@perniciouspete4986 yeah I hear you…but saying “I don’t know” isn’t acceptable as the leader either. I’m not saying to throw anyone under the bus but you also have to be careful so as to not appear incompetent. Regardless, the program is a shit show right now and there’s definitely enough blame to go around so hopefully HY gets this fixed.
I get why there are many that want Sam gone. It’s about wins and losses. But who? This has been a coaching carousel for 13 years. If there is any inkling that Sam can turn it around after this season, then he needs to stay.
I guess it's dumb of me but I really thought we were past these kind of years I hate to say it but I hope they find a staff that can at least make a bowl game yearly
I think he needs to stop calling them kids. They are young men. They sure as heck don’t play like it but Sam has no fire in him which translates to no fire in the team. This entire season is the Liberty game of last year. START DOING YOUR JOB OR TAKE A HIKE!
Another coaching change puts us back another half decade. Thats just the ugly truth. Who else do we go to right now? Then we lose the recruits that weve acquired under Sam. These games are hard as hell to watch, but it is up to the players to execute at the end of the day. I think Sam should get one more offseason to get this team right and if it starts out bad next year, then its time to go. This would also assure prospecting coaches that there is some job security here. Unless there is a top tier coach with a resume expressing REAL interest in our program, it makes zero sense at this point to start over.
Well ...we tried the awe shucks i understand Arkansas people shtick....time...too look to The Dark Side...the i'll feedyou to Gators if you dont play well type...i dont know how many Bama fans like Saint Nick Saban...except...HE FRIGGEN WINS...AND WINS..AND..WINS..AND WINS...
Not a QB competition in your opinion?! Every position should be a competition and open at this point. What has anyone down to have a guaranteed spot. This dude has no clue.🙄🤦🏽♂️
It’s time Pittman went bye bye. He is not trying to be a SEC HC he is trying to be the player’s best friend. He has kept Kennedy when he has failed as a recruiter & developer of O Line talent. Sam is in over his head. I love him as a person but as a HC it’s time to move on from him. 4 years of being out coached & not knowing what to do is enough
"It's about me and the kids". Yeah. Ok.... At the end of the day, they are kids. Kids that you all screwed over. You care so much...then why did you and the staff set them up for failure and disappointment...with this lackluster performance from the staff for one? Quit with the excuses hidden behind accountability. Just let him finish the contract next year...see what happens. Then AR can make the choice. We can't afford to send him home paid. He makes excuses a lot. Patience is a virtue. He's not a leader overall. He's a Ted Lasso. It doesn't work consistently. You must be more passionate and determined. Smarter. Must be more intense ON THE FIELD. WITH THE REFS. WITH THE PLAYERS. THE COORDINATORS. You have to know when to do... or say something to guys, and when not to. I don't like micro managers...but he's not really doing anything other than running practices, talking/hyping guys, and letting the coordinators have free reign. A true boss/coach will address, or take things in his hands a little more....get their hands dirty when it's come down to the absolute worst.. like it has been. Most sacked team in the country. No run or screen game. Nothing. Peyton Manning couldn't win with this O line.
Thank God it's basketball season.... I'm as diehard Razorback fan as they come, but I literally had to stop watching when it was 21-0.... Love Coach Pitt, the man, but I think his time here at UA is coming to an end. And as Trey Biddy has pointed out, ANY coaching turnover is going to SUCK. It's going to be another few years before the Hogs can compete at a Top-25 level consistently. #WPS
I really like Pittman as a person and as a coach for the first few years. But having Enos as the OC literally set the Razorback Football program back by 10 years. Unfortunately firing Enos this late in the Season was about 4 games to late. Too many bad habits picked up by the players from Enos that is going to take longer than 2 games to break. Give him 1 more full season and if we dont win a bowl game, then let him go.
We should get refunds on tickets when we get blown out, the team doesn't try, and the backups come in at the 3rd quarter. What an embarrassment and waste of peoples time.
