If Ricoh can drop the price of the Z1 to under $800 I would buy it. As it stands now. Insta is one firmware away from beating the Theta Z1when they can auto bracket at a fixed ISO. The 1 inch with the Leica lens is sharper and has better chromatic aberration but Ricoh's photography app settings are much better. I hope Ricoh comes out with a Z2 that has a removable battery and card slot, in camera stitching, 48 KHZ audio recording (the 360 records at a measly 16KHZ) along with stabilization akin to the 360 for video. Or just make it a really good still camera for virtual tours, architects and visual effects people (shooting HDR's) with a processor and lens that can handle low light, produces sharp images with accurate color, low chromatic aberration and lens flare.
Love the results from the Z1 but don’t love the user experience. I use it with Zillow tours and 99% of the time it’s super slow and buggy. I actually plan extra time for the lag when shooting a home. That’s sad. And also the battery life is horrible. Would love to see a software update or even some kind of upgrade program.
thanks jin ;) Ricoh Z1 has had many upgrades since its launch, most recently adding proper AEB bracketing, burst mode api, 0.0 bracket interval for denoise stacking, in camera hdr.dng merge via plugin, etc and as of late 2022, NO other 360 camera has these important pro photography features Zillow app and platform are limiting however, app only shoots in automatic exposure and no way to edit images, but Zillow is the one who needs to update here, ricoh does not make zillow app i always have a USB powerbank in my kit and use this to keep the camera running all day, tbh i prefer using a powerbank (inexpensive and powers every gizmo i own) vs many expensive single device internal batteries which eventually burn out and end up sooner in landfill etc
Sam.. is it possible to use the remote plug in with the AEB shooting mode? I find the dual fisheye plugin worthless with out being able to use a remote. Thoughts?
Hello Sam, I followed your steps but my camera does not show AE bracket (ugh!) - the options I show are Normal, Interval shooting, Interval composite, multi bracket and animation photo...please advise.
When will we ever see a Theta Z2? It's been 3 years! Come on Ricoh, is a 1" sensor with a removable battery, raw and a small screen too much to ask in 2023?
the missing piece of this puzzle is an upgraded 1 inch sensor from sony etc, hopefully we will see new sony IMX989 variant in upcoming 360 cameras for 2023 ;)
