You might not be able to repair the wall and floor, but by cleaning the apartment, you give other people the ability to do so. Without your cleaning, no one would be able to make the necessary repairs and pest control. You are a blessing.
I hope the family takes advantage of the cleaned up apartment you provided to get the landlord to put in new flooring and fresh paint...at the minimum! You can tell it hasn't been done in ages. This is old flooring. The hoard didn't do this. I'm sure the guy (and especially his family) really apreciates what you did for him!
Oh, Barbie, I want to thank you so much for what you did for that gentleman. My heart was crying 😢 during this one because of his condition. I know firsthand about dementia because I cared for my own beloved husband dring the years he suffered from it. My sincerest hope and prayer is that this gentleman will not have to be alone anymore now that family knows. He needs love, care, and anything and everything his family can do for his remaining years here. He can not suffer alone like this. Thank you for making the living condition in what he knows as home better and safer and cleaner 🙏 🩵 💙
You gave that old man a way to get pest control support now and maybe the LL will even paint and do new flooring after seeing it cleaned up. It looks significantly better after the clean 👏👏👏
EXACTLY! No one would go in to fix/paint that wall or exterminate the roaches or do any repairs in there without Barbie’s intervention. She is a treasure!🥰
you did such a great job. That place has been neglected for so very long and most likely, he has too. He needs to be in assisted living where he has daily care. I feel sorry for him. His family cant possibly be involved much for it to look so bad. You are the best thing that has happened to him in a LONG time
@@Joce123 man, I dont know where you live but I have never seen assisted living at $10,000 a month most states have funding for that, there is also medicaid etc. I would sell everything I own if it meant PROPERLY taking care of my dad
You should put it out there for someone who does painting to do a collaboration. Even if you can’t do expensive furniture or flooring, paint might brighten it up. But even if no one steps up, you have provided him a safe life outside of facility. That is a major blessing.
You did such a good job here. And now that it is cleaned up and not a disaster, maybe the landlord will fix the floors. They are a tripping hazard for an older person especially with dementia.
Barbie, I hope you know how much of an impact you make on peoples' lives. You did a wonderful job for this man who desperately needed help. Thank you ❤❤
The man should be evicted because if he is this terrible right now hes just gonna go right back to being a hoarder and the. Landlord's gonna have to put up with even more problems
Cleaning and decluttering .... You are doing great things for people. I'm happy that his family was able to get him to let them in and get your help to help him. People (some) enjoy being better than the rest of us average people. I'm to old to care about their opinions. Everybody has a different path in life and if you're lucky there won't be too many hard bumps in the road. The key is when you get knocked down is to get back up, fix what you can and continue forward. On a different note.... Not all landlords are slumlords. If people have been living somewhere for over a year much less many years they do a lot of damage to properties. Landlords usually need a reason to do inspections on the house or apartment. Many years ago I did work for both kinds of landlords. Not long with a slumlord though.... When we fixed something we fixed it right. Thanks Barbie!!!!!!
Great job Barbie, this one was a heartbreaker. My mother suffered from dementia with Parkinson’s. She couldn’t read anymore although she would pretend. She didn’t watch tv anymore. My brother and I kept her home clean and watched her 24/7 for seven years. Finally I decided to put her in a nursing home, she died two years later. Of course I had my regrets thinking why couldn’t you hold on another two years but I couldn’t. My kids were without me and I had a full time job. Of course the other siblings that weren’t helping were appalled that I would put her in a nursing home. The man who you helped in the video obviously cannot live on his own. I’m sure he recognized and appreciated all your hard work. In reading my mom’s journals, when she could still write, she knew she was losing her mind and she was scared. Thank you for making his environment cleaner and safer. Bless you Barbie, you are an amazing human.😘
It's so easy for some people to judge when they're not the ones dealing with caring for ageing parents, eh?.. I'm sorry for your loss, and I'm sure that you did the best that you could. 💜
You did the best you could. The place was pretty bad but I bet looks better with a new bed in it. As far as the TV goes I always use glass cleaner on mine. Have for years! Never damaged one yet!! Great Job! Lotta bugs! Eww!!
It is just cleaner filth, yes and thank you for at least that "upgrade". But I don't know how that family could let him live there even with all you heroically did. All furniture should be trashed. Cheap thrift store items better than what he has. Also, LL needs to come in and replace floors, repaint, fumigate, and make it a respectable environment for this man before he ever goes back.
Please don't put too much to the family's shoulder. They are very nice and take care of him. They bought a new mattress and on the end they paid me $600 even if I don't charge. They are lovely and they do everything
@@cleanwithbarbie if they love him they would not let him live in these conditions, sorry. This is inhumane; animals at a shelter live in cleaner environment than this. Adult protective services would or should not let this go on.
I've really struggled to watch Sam's cleaning, im not sure if he owns this apartment and has let it to get into this state because of his health, or he lives in a rental facility and the landlords aren't maintaining the property, either way, it's so very sad and hard to watch 😢
The apartment will be enough for him, that is what is important. 70 is not really old, hopefully he will have time to live, be safe and comfortable. Thank you for cleaning his home for him.
I want to do this kind of thing so much! If this was my loved one I wouldn’t be able to stop till this was made right. Oh I’m so glad they had you! Such a wonderful job you’ve done. I can’t bear to think of a lonely helpless elderly person staying this way
God bless u barbie another job well done i hope the famiky nembers got him also a new chair and got the mattress off of the floor and got him a bed frame.and the landlord painted the pplace.
You have to remember that sometimes “getting the ball rolling” is noble in itself. You might not be able to make repairs, but now since it is clean, maybe the tenant will develop some stewardship ethic and make those repairs. Regardless, his quality of life will drastically improve just from the deep clean. Great work!
But Barbie…. You do make every home you clean Brand New! I understand you want to do more for the people you help, but you give them something no other person has ever given to them. You’ve given them a new lease on life, that also gives them their dignity back. I know I’m only one person but, I definitely couldn’t do what you do for those people. If you can’t do extra don’t sweat it, I have a feeling one day you will be able to. I’d take one look at the bugs and spiders and run for the hills, or in your case I’d be running for the subway 😅lol
Wow, you are amazing!!!! This transformation was phenomenal!!!! You gave a gift to that man and his family, and I hope you are blessed mightily in return!!!! Your videos are the best and we love you, Barbie!!! 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷
I would really like to hear about what will happen with this gentleman after you are done, Barbie. He needs immediate help after you are done or it will end up bad again…. I wish him well.
You are so good, Barbie to do this for the poor man. It must break your heart about the condition of the place but as you said, you can only clean it, it's up to others to fix the walls and floors etc! At least he has a clean place now!
Dementia is a very delicate thing to work with. Before my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, I had to approach her paper hoarding very carefully. She never got to the point that Sam is at in her surroundings, because I kept at it when I was able and allowed, but it was worrying enough. Thank you for the work you‘re doing. It’s important, and makes such a difference.❤
Barbie you are a truly amazing woman. You have given ‘Sam’ a clean safe home. It’s very easy for us just watching to give out about the family not stepping up but maybe before it got bad he couldn’t keep on top of it and was too embarrassed to ask for help and wouldn’t let them in. I hope now he will continue to let his family come into the apartment to check on him more and keep him safe. And hopefully the landlord will get it updated too. There is no need to explain how hard you tried with the floor we could clearly see the struggle but you did do a great job on it. Happy St. Patrick’s Day. Have a great week. Mary, Joes wife 🙇♀️👏👍💪🙏💐
It usually looks so much better afterwards, but this bedroom is so bleak, it really needs lighter curtains and a new floor, a lick of paint .... You did your best.
Beautiful lady !!!!! Save yourself some work !! Take the cat box outside and use a hose. Take it EASY on yourself ! You spray then wipe right away. Spray everything in entire house so it can soak then start with cleaning something else. You are breaking your back; excellent that you squat and don’t bend it’s saving your back for future life. Keep up the good work ! Positive thoughts bring positive results !❤😊❤
Every time I see your videos, I feel bad for the folks struggling with mental illness....but I don't feel bad for landlords who obviously haven't bothered to remodel the buildings they own in 40 years. The landlords need to be taking care of these places. That asbestos tile on the floor is probably as old as my parents, and they're almost 70. Edit: I mean to say, I feel angry at the landlords.
How said that this man had to live in those conditions! The hoard aside, that place needs a Reno, looks like nothing has ever been updated😢 You did a fantastic job making it look 💯 better! Watching you on your knees scraping the papers stuck to floor, made my knees and back ache for you. Don’t know how you do that! Thanks for helping people out🥰
Barbie, have you ever made a behind the scenes video where you show how you clean your tools or clothes and shoes in between videos? It feels so strange to ask, but that's one of the main things I think about while watching videos like this.
What a beautiful world it would be if every area had a barbie, auri, Bonnie or Mac. So many people live like this for different reasons and you are all angels helping for free. ❤
The room looks one hundred times better than it did. This will make a world of difference to his quality of life. I am so happy he is getting a new bed. Both my parents had dementia. I understand the struggles this family is going through. You have made everyones life better.❤
Clearly, this man took care of himself in the past as he had weights, workout equipment and I think golf clubs. He was not checked on as there was too much going on over a long period of time. It looks like he was receiving Meals on Wheels. Did he open the door for them? Did they not notice the condition? Or, if food was left outside his door, how long did it sit out before he noticed? I hope his family did more than just a new mattress.
Disculpa Barbie, siempre me preguntó si alguien de la familia se hace cargo de fumigar el lugar, veo todo el esfuerzo que tú haces. Está es mi duda. Gracias por tanto amor desde Chile
I so admire what you do, I can't stand flies in the house, let alone what you face on cleaning these apartments. I have no time for those who throw criticism at the people you help, they've obviously never had a relative suffering dementia or depression. We have an old saying here in England "You can't make a silk purse from a pigs ear" I don't know if you know it, but basically, when people who criticised you on your cleaning you can't make a brand new sparkling apartment out of an old one that's basically crumbling! Ignore them or do like Midwest magic cleaning and block them, that's what they deserve ❤❤
You are such an amazing person! You have a heart of gold! There aren't many people in this world today who would be willing to do what you are doing to help people who have nothing to give you in return! I pray God blesses you and your family abundantly for your servant's heart!
