I like sam, he is so fun on the pod but this special really didnt do it for me. The only critisism i can give is how much he use the self deprecating of his jokes. Almost every second joke he stops, wait for a reaction and then says something like "that was a good joke" or "not funny? bummer..." Hopefully everyone else likes it so he get’s the spotlight he deserves.
Haha, interestingly I actually like that because of how quickly he processes and analyzes situations. Guess this is all subjective. However, I'd say the special doesn't showcase his true humour 100%, so I agree it doesn't do it for me fully. Unfortunately I guess you have to expect the material aimed at the general public to be generalized and toned down intellectually
So great; the energy and manic brakes-cut speed were unreal. This is how a comedy special should, could, can, and hopefully will be from now on (absolutely gorgeous and hilarious from start to finish).

That's fair, but I feel like stand up comedy isn't a place to showcase smart jokes - the general public isn't that smart, so it would be not knowing your audience. If you read his book, I think it's a better overview of his intellect A good example of this is Nick Mullen - he's a smart dude in ways, but his standup doesn't show that at all

The whole reason RU-vid specials are becoming more popular is because it allows them to not need Netflix. If this gets a couple million views (which it likely will) it will propel him better than Netflix probably would’ve.

Yeah I don’t want to be mean but I want to give constructive feedback. This special just wasn’t entertaining to watch. It was almost entirely crowd work and it wasn’t the kind that the viewer could laugh at if they weren’t there. I hope that you have the opportunity to make another one and you are able to use your material there

This was the most fun I’ve had watching a special in years if not ever. I can’t remember the last special I watched in 1 sitting but this was an absolute treat. The comedy was so good I didn’t even care that the production was bad. Keep it up Sam.
