Feeling sad = Empathy Being there = Sympathy Empathy helps one truly understand what a person goes through, in the way they can actually feel it However in terms of functionality, it prevents a person in actually helping out As an example if a person is depressed and needs someone to be there, an empathetic person might drown himself along in the misery A sympathetic person will still be sane enough to take meaningful and credible actions and watch the sails till the other person returns to their senses Though Empathy is a divine form of human nature, it is practically overrated and dual edged (if not controlled) Sympathy is more action oriented and teaches partners to learn the art of trusting each other keeping healthy emotional boundaries intact What good is a partner in battle, who falls along a casualty. A good partnership requires one to take the lead when the other is down At times an Empath acts like an emotional mirror which helps people process their feelings. Here again dependencies can become prevalent as an adult should be able to process their feelings without such help.

Nothing like that, imagine your 5 year old brother lost his pencil and now he's sad, you will feel sad cuz of that? you will simply tell him not to be sad, or console him by buying new pencil or candies, right? Most of the times some people are unable to feel the intensity of the situation from your perspective, cuz that shit might not be "too difficult" from their perspective.
