In my years of dancing salsa and belly dancing I never met any instructors who can break down a hard move like this and make it so simple in such short time, I totatly got it, thank you soooooo much..Brilliant insturctions..
Brilliant thanks sambabody.....Ive been doing samba dancing for 7 months now and my samba step has been really letting me down. Your instruction was really clear and helpful and I feel that I can at least do a processional without totally flunking this bit!
Thank you!! I have been trying to Samba for ages and for some reason had the steps wrong. You make it seem so easy. I'm so excited to try this tonight. :)
I'm a samba instructor as well and I really loved your video. I think it is easy and simple...and that's how it should be, because people are not used to the beat or the movements and it's very difficult to 'mould' their bodies, so it's best to start from scratch, otherwise it will result in frustration and they will give up. So well done you! Don't listen to those losers trying to bring you down...shame on them. I want to see them trying to teach. haha!
Por fin! Alguien que tiene la lógica que al enseñar se empieza de cero!!! Hay muchos videos "para enseñar a bailar samba" pero son inútiles si solo bailan y punto. Este esta excelente, felicidades.
Nice! Nice to see there are people that really value samba culture and try to learn directly from brazil. This samba have some differences, but its a lot like brazilian samba! And even if its not identical, it is beautifull in its own version. Not like the int. balroom samba, that have nothing - zero - to do with samba.
really great video & instruction. I have to work on the flexion of all the parts though. It's fun & liberating, but really tough on my spine right now. I love this post though. It's easy to understand & inspiring me for the new year
OMG! u r such an awesome teacher!!........ I used to have a hard time trying to learn how to dance samba.. but after watch this, I'm not anymore!! I'm so happy!!! =D
Thank you so much for this amazing video! Very easy and simple to learn, it just takes practice, I can't wait to get home and start today , I really appreciate your help. Have an amazing day! Elsie
very helpful, I have a show in two weeks and my friend told me about this video, thanks, might even buy the video because this is definitively a workout
You make it look so simple and I actually had fun! I am a horrible dancer but I actually liked the way I looked while dancing to your instructions, they are very clear. Wish I lived in America so I could attend your classes. I have a question: Do you ship the DVD to Europe (Romania)? I'd save the money and buy it.
@tropiking Thanks for the comment. All dances have a beauty unique to themselves. I fell in love w/ Samba after knowing Salsa. Yes, it is different but not impossible to learn. Keep practicing and you will be amazed of your accomplishments. Blessings.
@p21nut Hey there: thanks for your comment. Yes, there are several ones. I would recommend watching the "samba malandro" versions. They are the best reproductions of male versions of Samba. Watch the forward flexion and the fast knee motion (more knee flexion and use of heels). You will learn a lot. I will make a vid for guys using one of my male students. I can assure you the basic moves I teach would work for men and women, once you are more advanced you change it slightly. Thanks again.
Thanks for your comment and you are right: if your student has already built a better understanding of the body movement, then you are more complex modifications and isolations. However this is a beginner video and is better to start w/ the most fundamental and basic moves to allow for correct motor neuron activation. Thanks for your comment. :) Samba love always
@wierzbinska This is a method I found useful for students having a hard time w/ transverse hip motion (parallel to floor). It adds a hip accent on opposite side and it helps make the move more dynamic. Lots of Brazilian dances are done w/ knee flexion and open knee, it's just the style. I agree, not as graceful but energetic and fun, that's the goal. Thanks for your comment and for watching the video. Peace :)
@LaNanurXxX i don't believe you can't. just step up and down to the music at first. it'll just happen whether you're trying or not. If you're stepping up and down with SAMBA MUSIC on, hey, you're doin' it! Lift your feet up and down (left then right then left then right) constantly (the key is DON'T STOP). Once you get your own "feel" for stepping up and down(back and forth: left - right - left -right) -- (and make sure you have SAMBA music playing), then you can follow what she's showing.
@michanita Thanks for watching and yes, go easy on the transverse motion for your spine. Make sure and contract your abdominal muscles when you dance. It seems to decrease back strain. Beijos!!!
