Sambar
INGREDIENTS
Toor Dal-1cup
Pumpkin-1small piece
carrot-1 number
Tomato-1number
Eggplant-1small size
Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder-1tsp
Sambar Masala-1tsp
Curry leaves - 7-8 number
Coriander seeds -1tsp
Mustard seed - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1tsp
Red chilli - 3-4
Oil - 3 tsp
Onion - 1 medium size
PROCESS FOR SAMBAR MASALA
Heat 1tsp oil in a pan and 1tsp cumin seeds, coriander seeds, mustard seeds, chana dal, coconut and some curry leaves. Saute for 1 min, let the mixture cool down and after that grind it. Sambar powder is ready.
PROCESS
1. Take 1 cup of toor dal and wash it well. Soak the toor dal and keep it for 20 min.
2. After 20 min add soak dal in cooker and add 2cup of water. Add salt and turmaric powder. Cook it for 3 whistle.
3. Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan. Add red chilli, mustard seed and curry leaves. Saute for 1min.
4. Add 1 chopped onion and 1 chopped tomato. Saute well.
5. Now add 1 tsp red chilli powder and samber powder. Cook until masala relise oil.
6. Add vegetables of your choice and cook them for 5 min.
7. Add tamarind extract and mix well.
8. Cover and cook for 2-3 min.
9. Add 2 cup water, jaggery and salt as per taste.
10. Now add cooked toor dal to it and mix well Sambar is ready to serve
11. Serve it with idli , vada , dosa.
