As an assistant nurse the parts where he sings about paramedics, nurses and doctors hits home a little bit more. And the line ”The guilt is seein' someone who you tried to save die” is something I don’t think people thinks about. Like you said, the trauma that some of us in healthcare sees sticks with you, you can’t just shake it off when you leave work. Some incidents you forget about over time or the fade at least but there is a couple of patients I will never forget 😢I work with kids and that, for me personally, is worse than working with elderly. I love my job but I hate it too some days.

9:41 I was a nurse for 10 years before I became too disabled by chronic illnesses to continue. The hard cases are the ones you take home in your mind and play over again your head the next day in the shower as you try to figure out what you might have missed, how things might have gone better. You do have to learn to compartmentalize, though, if only for the fact that you have a team of multiple patients that you’re responsible for and you can’t take a mental health break every time there is a less than ideal outcome. You have to learn to deal with a dying patient in one room (or even come right from a code) into another patient’s room without it breaking your game face. Your patients have their own anxieties and health issues they are dealing with; they don’t need to bear the burden of your emotional stress from dealing with your other patients on top of their own concerns. So it’s for the patients’ sake as well as for the nurse’s own sanity. The really bad cases will be the ones that haunt you, but those get dealt with on a more personal level when you are able to… even if it is just by hitting the books so you can do everything you can to help prevent a particularly bad patient outcome from happening on your watch again. At least that’s been how I’ve always had to move forward. (The medical profession has its particular brand of dark humor for a similar reason; it’s a coping mechanism to help you keep on keeping on). On a slightly related side note: This learning to compartmentalize ended up having the unexpected benefit of helping me cope when I got diagnosed with some fairly rare/lesser known chronic illness diagnoses. Turning on “nurse brain” helped me to somewhat look at my situation from a clinical perspective. It helped me try to get some grip on my degenerating ability to function on the intellectual level so as to detach myself emotionally as best I could when I needed to (like work with patients), and then to deal with my emotions when I had to. I can definitely tell you that if I had not learned how to emotionally compartmentalize during my first year of nursing, I would have not made it through my final and 10th year as a nurse, where each work day was a seemingly insurmountable challenge, that I could only take minute by minute and step by step. My patients and doctors never knew that coming into work each day for a year absolutely destroyed me every day for a year, and that the act of going from my house to my workplace utterly exhausted me to my core and drove me to tears. Once I had regained emotional control (and before anyone could see me!), I strove to compartmentalize so I could focus on my tasks and my patients’ needs until I could go home and try to leave the work issues at work and pick up with dealing with my personal life/health issues. A level of compartmentalization (and prayer) definitely helped me fight despair and from traveling too far down a dark path. So I absolutely believe that the compartmentalization of work life and personal life that health care workers have to learn can save lives, both that of the patient (by allowing the provider to focus more when they are at work) and that of the provider.

He literally came up with the beat, wrote it and recorded it in 2hrs. Nova got filmed and edited and they uploaded it at 8 am the next day. Hope you chose to react to this song. But if not go watch Tom and Nova reacting to the song they explain all the feels and whys they did what they did. But (The Officer Tatum) is calling for a Colab of all the Conservative Rappers like what Dax did. He even said he would put some money on it. I'd like to see some of the influencers take some of the jobs that everyone takes for granted. We will ALWAYS need people to do some of these jobs and we should appreciate their contributions.

As you probably know by now Britt, Tom has done another video since this one called "You Missed" It's about the event of 6:11 PM Butler PA. on July 13, 2024. Tom and Nova were overcome with so much grief that Tom wrote, produced it in 2 hours. Nova then shot his video until after midnight and she edited it to 3AM. They both got up at 8AM Sunday to release it to You Tube. It is his powerful/important point of view song and by far his most reacted to video ever in a short time. During these challenging times Tom MacDonald is a true blessing sent by the Lord himself.

He did react, 1st was lethal injection, then Mac fired back with this song that for lack of a better term, was...... Cringe, and then Tom came hard with mack lethal sucks. And he felt bad, cuz Mac career was shattered after that, dude ended up getting a divorce and a lot of Mac fans were also Tom fans and they abandoned Mac, and he basically ruined this guy's life. Now I'm not saying toms dis track was the reason but it was surely a source of the spiral. And Tom regrets it, he has to live with that the rest of his life so he won't do dis tracks, so if y'all waiting on Tom to fire back at Upchurch, don't hold your breath, now he does do songs and addresses the haters, but will never name names, or call someone out even if they talking mad smack.
