My current opinion (which didn't seem to come up here) leans on 1 Cor 6:9-11 to read that some of the Corinthians WERE homosexuals (or thieves, greedy or drunkards etc) but had transformative experiences through Christ. 'Pray the Gay Away' is often a shallow straw-man, but do we -as a Church- believe we could 'Pray drunkardness away'? No. Not as a rule, but I would argue that through humility to the scripture's presentation of absolute morality and through faith in Christ, Jesus -in His immeasurable grace- can free us of our sinful nature. ...All this as a straight male, I get it. It's interesting that Jesus in his final word to the churches never rebuked the churches for tolerating tattoos or head coverings. One of the things He did, however, rebuke them for was their tolerance of sexual sin.

In times past God has gathered His appointed overseers, to search the Scriptures in order to make perfectly clear once and for all where He stands on certain issues. In the 3rd or 4th century He used the council of Nicea to gives us the creeds show that the Deity of Christ and the Trinity is the more accurate understanding of His nature, during the reformation He gave us the 5 solas in order clear how Salvtion works and that He is the true head of the church, during the 19th or 20th century He gave us the Chicago statement on biblical inerrancy to make clear what His Scriptures are and that they are to be trusted. Now in the 21 first century He has done it again. He has gathered His overseers again to search the scriptures to make clear not only where he stands on the issue of homosexuality, transgenderism, or even fornication( sex outside of marriage. Through the Nashville statement in 2017. Although it's already been ratified. The overseers Who gathered for this are still leaving room for all believers to sign it. As soon as I can figure out how. I'm going to sign it. Not because I hate folks who practice sexual immorality. But because I love them and I love God. If you are a true born again believer. I would encourage you to sign it as well.
