He's definitely up there with the voice legends past and present for sure including: Nancy Cartwright Jim Cummings Jeff Bennett Rob Paulsen The late June Foray Tress MacNeille Cree Summer Dan Castellaneta Paul Frees Billy West Frank Welker Daws Butler Stephen Root Tara Strong Kath Soucie and as you said, Mel Blanc Amongst many others that have very recognizable voices
His career dates back a little further than that. In 1993, he voiced Heff on Rocko's Modern Life, became an extra on Mr. Show with David Cross and Bob Odenkirk 2 years later, and then went back in the voice acting in 1998 when he played the mayor on the OG PowerPuff and Carl on Johnny Bravo
@@MaskingAutism88 Tom Kenny debuted in How I Got Into College in 1989. Then following that, he starred in Shakes the Clown as Binky the Clown (or as he calls it, Binky the Doormat.) Then he went on to join Jill Talley (his future wife) and Jennifer Aniston (who would later become famous on Friends) on a show called The Edge. His first voice acting career did start out with Rocko's Modern Life, then he went on to do Mr. Show with David Cross and Bob Odenkirk while voicing Heffer and after voicing Heffer. He didn't come back to voice acting in 1998 as he did voices for a couple of characters in Dexter's Lab. And in 1997, that was when he did the pilot with Stephen Hillenburg for SpongeBob SquarePants. Now it's been 30 years since Rocko and 26 years since the pilot was produced and he's still going strong! When he's not voice acting, he's also singing with his band called Tom Kenny and the Hi-Seas (which recently performed on Cinco de Mayo)
@@MaskingAutism88 Also, I forgot to say that if you know The Smashing Pumpkins, him and his wife both star in their music video "Tonight, Tonight" in 1996.
I've said it before and I say it again: That's one reason why I love voice acting so much. Also I notice connections in German dubs (I'm German) and love them: in this particular Rick & Morty episode the wizard who slutshames the dragon is voiced by an voice actor that also is the German voice of Darkwing Duck, Luigi (from the 1990's "Super Mario Bros. Super Show"), Kyle's Dad in "South Park", busdriver Otto and a few others in "The Simpsons", the villain chef Skinner in Pixar's "Ratatouille" and many many more... And don't get me started with the German voice of Rick Sanchez... 😁
Handsome Jack from Borderlands, Nigel Marven in Prehistoric Park, Primeval and the Walking with... Specials, Chucky the Murder Doll, Ghost Face, one of the Orcs in Return of the King that takes Frodos Mithril Armor, one of the NPC in Age of Empire II ( We will destroy the great Tent! Dschingis can sleep with his Camels in the Dirt!), Jeebs from Man in Black ( The Guy with the regrowing Head), Mr. Burns from the Simpsons since 2014, PR. Fink from the Simpsons since 2014, Greez Dritus in the Star Wars Fällen Order Games, Johnny in Bioshock, Hans Rotwood in American Dragon, Jerry Möller in Enemy of the State, Quinn in Blade... Among others
@@GoldenRufi87gear2 Okay, here is a selection (there are way more roles...) - German voice of Jack in the "You Don't know Jack" games (except the first game) - South Park: Ned / Mickey Mouse / The Pharmacist / several smaller roles - Simpsons: Prof. Jonathan Frink - Futurama: Kif - Sailor Moon (1990s): Jadeite / Hawk's Eye - Scream (movie series): The voice of the killer - Leprechaun (movie series): Leprechaun - Disney's Teacher's Pet: Dr. Ivan Krank - Monty Python's Flying Circus: Michael Palin - Borderland (game series): Handsome Jack Just some prominent roles. I got the honor of meeting Tom Kenny at the New York Comic Con!! He was so nice and funny honestly. OMG thanks for the likes! I've never gotten this many likes before!
Well, of course that's Tom Kenny. He's in pretty much anything from the last 20 to 30 years: He voiced the mayor on Power Puff Girls OG Carl the geeky guy on Johnny Bravo (a cartoon that would NEVER be made today. Fun fact: Seth MacFarlane was a writer for that show several years before he invented Family Guy for Fox) The gay neighbor on Mission Hill The Gym Partner Monkey guy from that cartoon of the same name Ice King on Adventure Time Heffer the Cow on Rocko's Modern Life Dog on CatDog He even worked on HBO with David Cross and Bob "Better Call Saul" Odekirk doing comedy skits where they all cuss, smoke, drink and make jokes that could never be made today (and this was several years before SpongeBob was invented on Nickelodeon and Tom moved on to that instead). And several other things for TV and Cartoons
Johnny Bravo would definitely be a type of show made today, but probably not tailored towards children. The women in the show are always sophisticated and accomplished individuals, and then there's completely out of touch Johnny who lives with his momma and always fails to get a date because he objectifies women. Also there's that one episode where he turns into a girl.
When people say “this ruin my childhood” I find it funny when a actor I love dose something that not kid Friendly show how much voice actor can be talented.
Whoever said that must be a moron,I knew some voice actors who do my childhood and adult shows as well; like Tara strong for instance (the one who do Timmy Turner,Raven, Twilight and Bubbles) also did some characters on adult shows
Tom kenny also voiced dog ( catdog ), dr. Two brains ( word girl ), the mayor of townsville ( the powerpuff girls classic and the reboot ), david ( who is a member of sector z and the DCFDTL and from codename: kids next door ), knight brace ( codename: kids next door ), spyro, ( spyro the dragon ) and etc.
I think one of Tom Kenny's most underrated roles is from playing Ratbert in the Dilbert TV Series from 1999. I say underrated, because that was pretty much all good shows on UPN.
For a second I thought it would be different, while I don't remember Kenny voicing Ratbert I do remember the show being almost ill-received and mostly ignored
He, Frank Welker, the late June Foray, and the thousands of other voice legends living or dead have one thing in common and that's they all have resumes that are 50+ pages long featuring the voice roles they've done over the years
Tom Kenny is so good, I love when I recognize his voice in a show, also my favorite story about him was Arin Hanson (GameGrumps/EgoRaptor) watched a tire store burn with him
Did both Tom Kenny AND Mr. Lawrence voice these dragons? The Tom Kenny dragon I'm familiar with is small, purple, has orange wings and yellow horns, spikes and claws.
I had to look up The Fast and The Furry because I didn't believe that was a real thing but there it was in front of me. Funny how the Warner People will make a Tom and Jerry-fied version of an otherwise not so kid-friendly movie franchise but they refuse to make those Tom and Jerry Meet Full Metal Jacket (old 80s movie about the Vietnam War and a fat soldier who gets pushed to a mental meltdown during marine training) and Soylent Green (Dystopian movie from the 70s about a cop and a factory that makes processed wafers out of human remains) crossovers I asked for
In Brazil, Spongebob has the same voice actor of Goku and Batman(Robert Pattinson only). He is the voice of Sanji(One Piece), Pain and Kidomaru(Naruto) and Sam(LOTR) too.
Tom Kenny is a legend. Most people see him as Spongebob, Ice King, or something similar, but as that one rare Wander Over Yonder fan, he'll always be Commander Peepers to me lol.
