Met him, he was one of the nicest, most down-to-earth guys! Having worked the showbiz circuit, I had a few REALLY unpleasant "stars", not many though... Yet, it was always refreshing to encounter such a great spirit like Sammy! And! He was a great entertainer!
Sammy is a country singer who just loves what he does. And he has always said from the very beginning that he was all about the people and his fans. He knows him and the people are all the same and that he is a regular human being like everyone else, talented as can be but humble and down to earth as well.
@@cadillacranch2925 that's cool. I'd always wanted to meet him and see him perform live of course, though I still have yet to do both come 32 years since he first came out,and I was an instant fan. But 10 years ago I would have at least gotten to see him live because him and Aaron Tippin and Joe Diffie(RIP😢)were coming to my town with the Boots and Roots Tour. But I had called to inquire on how to get tickets a few days before the concert was scheduled and the guy I talked to informed me that Sammy would not be there due to a tragedy in his family. His brother had passed away so I guess he was spending time with family and helping with arrangements and all that stuff. I was sad for him for his loss but at the same time I was a little disappointed that I wouldn't be seeing him either.
Heard a version of he stopped loving her today he did in front George Jones I'm a George fan his voice is one in a million but got to admit Sammy sounded close to George that performance Sammy was very underated
A love song with edge you can call it. A good one. And Sammy said he didn't like it when he first heard the demo because he felt like it didn't fit him at all and he almost didn't even record it,let alone release it. But(his producer)Buddy Cannon told him to just give it a try and then listen to himself singing it and doing so would give him a better idea just how well the song fit him. Glad Sammy heeded his advice and went on to put this out as his debut single, thus making him an instant star and gaining a big fan base overnight and kicking off a career that would give him,and us fans, some good hits for the next few years. Sadly it all kind of fanned out too soon, but all is not really lost because he's still going strong touring and doing new music to this day.
When this song first came out I could have sworn this was George Jones. Then I seen that it was Sammy Kershaw and my mom's first thought was that he looked an awful lot like Don Johnson.😅
