400 bikes...and 5 don't "work" including the wooden one...HAA, you are awesome Sammy. I remember watching your exploits when I was a kid, and you always amazed me . You were such an inspiration to all of us budding trials riders...Bless you, man...GREAT museum!
I had the pleasure of visiting the museum last week .I was staggered at the quality of the collection.the way the bikes are presented you can get up close to the bikes even the most exotic.my favourite the racing 500 Gilera.even better to see the great man SM working in the workshop long May he continue I’ll be back, cannot recommend it enough regards MG
I live in Sweden and did visit the Museum and bought the Sammy Miller Book last summer. That was not enough! I have to go back and inspect the bikes more thoroughly and buy more books. One day is, without any doubt, to little. There are more then 400 bikes, and many need a careful inspection. If you are interested in motorcycles I can't see any reason not going there. It is just incredibly interesting if you are a motorcycle person.
I've just recently been down to this museum. It is such a brilliant place. Love the atmosphere. Got chatting to another biker there turned out we lived only a mile apart but be had travelled 65 miles to get there. Small world. Got my own vid and had a great afternoon. Very highly recommended.
I remember Sammy racing the 250 NSU at Dundrod nut the UGP if memory serves me right it was called the Dundrod 150. One of the races had 500s 350s and 250s all in the same race a 500cc Norton won and Sammy was second the rest were a country mile behind.
MegaSamas I was at that race I will never forget it a field full of 500cc and 350cc bike's and Sammy on the NSU 250cc finishing 2nd a country mile aheadof the rest. Along with that the other two race's struck in my mind forever was Bob McIntyre on the 250 Honda and the following year Tarquinio Provini on the 250 Morini three race's struck in my mind forever.
Have followed Sam like most since i was a child even rode against him in centre trials ussually at more than a comfortable distance then my kids rode often in the same events Sam having moved on to dominating the pre 65 class now well in his sixties meanwhile his business was going from strength to strength from a humble little shop in Ringwood to the quite large establishment in New MILTON Within spitting distance of where the Rickmans started out and then what has become the Superb museum at Bashley None of this happened overnight and im sure fighting planners, amongst over things the incredible amount of bike restoration he and his small team have done shows the same dedicated commitment he once gave to Trials and Racing long may he continue.
The best motorcycle museum I've ever been to. The guys running it were lovely and allowed us to take our elderly dog Bessie around with us. People say Sammy doesn't suffer fools gladly but he's always lovely when we talk to him.
Point the darn camera at the bike that is being discussed you fool, we want to see the bikes not Sammy we all know what he looks like, you completely missed filming the engine on that supercharged V4, the best bike in the whole museum..
