I just wanted to tell everyone to love the skin they're in. A lot of people that are light wanting to be darker and darker wanting to be lighter. It does not matter how light or dark you are. You are beautiful. There are other things more important than your skin tone, like being in shape, how your hair is kept, dental hygiene, and regular hygiene. =D

Hell, I enjoy being dark-skinned as well. It really gives you a new perspective on certain aspects of life that may be different for other people of varying skin colors. Plus, people of dark skin color exist because of mass breeding in an environment with heavy solar rays, so we're all the same species but just a different flavor. Also on the same boat when it comes to Cpt. Kirk, just too many cool people out there just to stick with the ones with the same complexion as you. =Y

And yeah Lil Kim has actual self hate issues. She has noted for years how many men (mostly black men) degraded her for her darker skin and thus kinda prompted her to lighter her skin. And even get surgery to make her features more European.

I’m Puerto Rican, and I see this a lot even in my own family. The reason why he’s so pink and the next vanilla or white if u wunna say that is because everytime someone uses cake soap or hydroquinone the melanin goes away for a minute but due to our dna carrying melanin or the melanin gene our body counteracts the hydroquinone by fighting it off and creating more cells where the melanin and sneak in and present itself because it’s in his dna. You can’t change your dna. I know I’m three years too late I just got into ya last year off and on lmao

Actually, tanning does permanently darken the skin over time. You activate melanocytes which gives people darker skin tones, once activated, melanocytes do not deactivate and you would gradually darken over time.

You know what? I think it would be a mighty fine idea of they remade Up, Up and Away. I don't know about anyone else, but I feel it would be a good movie to remake. Just give it a budget and put it in the hands of someone who will treat it with integrity, and I could see it doing pretty well.

I say that if people like Danielle can tan themselves to make themselves darker, people should be able to do things to make themselves lighter if they want to. The only problem I would have with it is if people are trying to force or pressure people into changing things like their hair color, hair texture, or skin color.

Danielle is interesting case because she's Italian and as you mentioned people of Southern descent can get fairly dark (there's a reason they are referred as olive skin). Honestly the whole concept of white is more complicated than people want to admit.

Vitiligo was the syndrome used to explain his skin lightening, but it would have been easier to believe if he did not literally transform his appearance to that of a "white" person. He was an attractive young man with a beautiful complexion when he was younger, then he gradually became lighter, dark to medium, to light.

Chris Taylor Your right it does exist on both sides but i feel for white people it’s more aesthetics and recreation. The self hate that they have does not stem from colonialism, slavery and oppression like it does with our black community. We Bleach our skin perm our hair and wear weave extensions to mimic white people. I think I’m going to do some research on this now.

@@creamfiend84 I see where you're coming from now but i still feel like it's self hate in a way when whites tan and that it's not really fair to call one self hate and not the other. Also black people who bleach can make the same argument and say that they aren't trying to be lighter to mimic white people but are rather doing it because they think that they will simply look better that way. After all, when blacks bleach, they tend to never go full white. Always only like a shade or two lighter. Sammy Sosa is the obvious exception. lol
