love the fact that you pay attention to cultures such as samnium, otherwise overlooked in general

Seen a few new channels on Ancient Rome. Looks obvious that they are using chatGPT. Long term viewer of this channel. But agree script could have been shorter. Keep up the good work regardless!

Yeah, i only really use it to expand what i already have, and to correct some grammar. This video was actually somewhat of a nightmare to research, but once i had the breakthrough with the swords not being the kopis the whole thing sort of all came together.

Hello love the video, one thing that bothers me is the explanation about why the samnites only wore one greave. I fight in armor made for me a lot as part of HEMA and a greave basically has zero affect on your mobility. It’s simply not that difficult to move in armor that’s made for you.
@SimonTrimby
@SimonTrimby Год назад
Agreed. I always thought it was just to save on resources. If 95% of leg hits are on warriors' leading legs in battle, you can probably do without armour on the other one and equip twice as many warriors with greaves. I'm also dubious of the claim that the cuirasses had to be tailor-made for each wearer. Why? A range of sizes and adjustable straps would be enough (I've also done reenactment fighting in armour).
@patmcsperin1484
@patmcsperin1484 10 месяцев назад
More often than not I think it was due to an economic choice rather than because it was “harder to move”. Armor was expensive and having it made when every single resource had to be carefully used would make sense that many would forgo the second greave.
@MrBl3ki
@MrBl3ki 6 месяцев назад
@@patmcsperin1484 Exactly, two soldiers without a second greave and you have another soldier with a helmet and a greave on the leading leg. Basically, 50% more of lightly armored troops is not something to ignore, especially if you have capable men that would otherwise stand around and jerk off waiting to be slaughtered or enslaved by the victorious enemy. Shield and a spear/javelin are much cheaper, and body armor could be, although not ideal, made out of layered linen/leather.

Lady's and gentlemen Another great video One flaw is that in the first 2 minutes or so you did repeat yourself.... Not to worry I do it very often lol Actually for the first 4:50 you repeted yourself a few times lol.. Keep an eye out for thst in your next scrips And a few other times..... Ok, not your greatest video, you could of made it shorter with script changes but all well

Yeah, unfortuantely with this video im having to go over a lot of things that are greek, and say that this is a greek design being used by the samnites. Im also planning on splitting these videos up into smaller videos for the clips channel when my outsourced editor gets back from Norway :)

Didn’t the Samnites use a certain no no symbol on their shields or was that the Umbrians?
@TheFamilyMan862
@TheFamilyMan862 4 месяца назад
Loads of people used the no no symbol there’s Roman shields with no no symbol If the moustache man didn’t use it we would still see it everywhere today like in or South east Asia

I watched most of your Samnite videos and while I do like the subjects that you cover, you seem to be repeating yourself too much - even within a couple of minutes of the same video.
