With increasing need to monitor the elemental impurities in various materials for their toxic effects, the quantitation limits for these elemental impurities with AAS, ICP-OES and ICP-MS have been proving increasingly demanding. One of the key factor to achieve the highest performance of the analytical instruments is good sample preparation!!
In this context, this session will focus on the basics of sample preparation and its need; challenges faced by the chemists while doing successful sample preparation and available techniques to achieve a complete digestion in order to achieve best results with the analytical instruments viz. AAS, ICP-OES or ICP-MS.

thank you for the great presentation I have a question. with our Anton paar system we noticed going to a temperature higher than 200oC, recovery of Ei in spiked samples at 03J and 1J will drop below 75%. but by keeping temp near 150oC we see good recoveries near 100%. we use 5mL HNO3 and 0.5 ml HCl and the sample amount is 20 mg. could you please comment and make a suggestion. regards mehrdad/Canada

@@rahul1anonly thank you for the reply i am using 8vessel quartz material 8NXQ80. if i use low microwave power (300-500) and make sure not to exceeds temp about 150oC, i see very good recovery from spiked samples. however at around 800 microwave power (that generate temp around 200oC) recovery drops to 80%. and at height power (1000) (temp ca 230oC) recovery drops below 70%. this observation is contradictory to the material in the video that recommends high temp to insure complete digression. your reply is appreciated.

How may a tissue sample be sent to SAIF for ICP MS? In addition, only the samples should be submitted, or the digestion processes should be done befire. plz respond
