Ahh yes, the dust, dirt, grime, grit and green cruddy moldy records stuck together. man you stinkin' up RU-vid with all this old stank funk! love it bro.
Hey bro excellent beat. I'm wondering what you used to record your live set? The sound quality is really good. I usually just resample/rec and add a sample onto the mix but I'm wondering if there is an easier way to add samples without having to hit record. I know that it stops the sampling after more than two buttons are pressed. If not I might end up buying an sp202 to record what I make off of the sp404. And also, how did you eq your kick and snare on the sp404? I'm trying to get that boom bap sound.
looks like you hhave the 2000xl right there i have the same and ive been thinking about buying an sp also. it seems like it has some really cool features and great effects.what are your thoughts on the sp?
ove to enjoy your vids, cool sound! maybe you can help me. i want to record a whole session on the sps, but when i push more than three pads at the same time (or just active) all pads stop playing...it is so stupid...i just wand to push arround the pads and simply record what i spontanious pushed...do you understand? :P thx
The SP is dope for filters and playing live shows, however it is frustrating at times using it exclusively for making beats. Unlike the MPC, the SP 404 sx does not have polyphony and thus makes it a bit difficult to drum and play samples like you can on the MPC. Other than that it's a dope buy for filtering your drums, samples and creating "LoFi" beats.
you should go with shoaolingtiger1 opinion. I have an sp 404 myself, my first sampler actually...its really great but it has some features that it lacks
Does anyone have any tips or advice on where I can find jazzy lo fi samples and drum hits like these?? I really like Emune and Always Proper . I purchased an sp404sx and my next step is to find what I'm going to sample.. Or where to get samples. I know I could probably pick up some records but as of right now I don't own a turntable and I'm curious of any other sources.. unless sampling vinyl is really the main way to go in that case does any names of good jazz records.. also Im just getting into the lofi hip hop scene so please excuse me if these questions seem really dumb. I'm just trying to learn as much as possible. I'm trying to register to the lofi.hiphop forums but I need a registration code from someone who is already part of the forums, so I kinda need the invite :/ If anyone could give me a registration code for the lofi.hip hop forum that would be awesome because I could learn alot there. Also wondering what the correlation between lofi hip hop and tapes is. I look up alot of this music and see things about tapes and beat tapes... I'm from a totally different genre so this is kinda strange to me.. Should I be getting some tapes? haha
Hey! I don't get why people find it so hard to find samples. RU-vid literally has trillions of beautiful songs you could sample from. Search jazz, chinese jazz, japanese jazz, funk. Explore genres. Most importantly go back to the classics and if something really appeals to you then sample it :)
respect the damn samples. listen to some jazz records. listen all the way through if ur trynna sample it too dont just run through the shit. u'll know what to sample.
Sorry one question, the 404 incorporates some drum samples or why the majority of the drums I hear of 404 users sounds similar? I want to get this sound.. any recommendation? how had you get this sound? pre (samples that sound like that) or after 404 sx? please
I'm on the same hunt.. I just purchased an sp404sx and it is coming in the mail. but I have no idea what I'm gonna do about getting the jazzy samples and lo fi hip hop drum beats onto it. I'm not sure what to sample or where to sample from yet.
