I'snt the period just 2*pi.which gives T as 1.

We're not trying to find the period of the signal, we're trying to find the sampling period required to sample the signal properly. Given the highest frequency (i.e. smallest period), we need to sample at twice that rate (or at half the period). I hope that helps.
