So... how do you like Push 2. How does it compare to Maschine Studio?

The new Push2 has now caught up to Machine. They did a very nice job. I still like using both.

I own both of them, to be honest they both rock. Initially I have planned to replace machine studio with Push2 but as I do have a lot of Kontakt Libraries and Maschine Studio now supports midi out, they both found their place in my studio :)

I don't know. For the price, the MK3 smokes Push 2 as far as hip-hop production goes. It's much easier to do manual chopping/duplicating the pads than here... I see the potential with Ableton with Push 2 for hip-hop, but for $1400 (Push 2 plus Suite)... I don't think it's as fast, workflow-wise, as Maschine. Plus, a lot of people prefer bigger pads (and the tried-and-true 4x4 grid which the legends used 30 years ago). It just makes sense, at least to me. If Push 2 and Ableton Suite were $799 total, I'd consider it.... but in the meantime, since MK3 came out.... there's no need for Ableton, for hip-hop (in my humble opinion).

+Construct87 warping accapellas are always tough especially if you dont know their original bpm. Warping is an art form. One way to get you going is to use slice mode and then you can play slices to your liking however if you dont have it warped properly it will still sound off.

having owned a maschine mk3 for years, i can confirm this haha. i used it a lot for live performances, including a berklee audition, but in terms of actual production workflow it is not the greatest. just picked up a push 2 yesterday and the difference is absurd. it's so much better and is clear that it's meant to integrate well with ableton

Its made to integrate with Ableton Live, however you can use it as a midi controller in Reason. However it won't be as useful as LIve.

Ableton Live comes with lots of samples and loops, and of course you can create your own too.

+dopemcee I was kinda confused by this too. The way it works is Midi tracks are obviously as they always have been, auto arming when you select them. Audio tracks however can't be armed on the push (frustrating I know) but you are intended to just session record on the fly.

+Kyler Loveless so apparently you can. if you hold down the record button and then press the corresponding bottom button for the track you want to arm..it arms it.

work in 3/4 and double it? ... you can chose any time signature you want in Ableton. I imagine you can do 7/13 and 12/5 if you really want to! so Im sure you can do 6/8

It works in tandem with ableton. It's a controller. You need ableton

foggydrifty It's that flat design of ableton that repulses me the most. It's such an ugly GUI. Great program, greatest controller, ugly GUI. Altough it's software and you're watching it on screen, I still like to see that 3D knobs.

I have been wondering about this as well. I have Push 1 and honestly you really have to do a lot of work setting everything up, and its just not as simple as it could be. I recently got the new iMaschine 2 iPhone app, and found it more easy to start tracks with that even...

I probably will buy the push 2 to explore with playing some live tracks! not so much for production .. Bought an apc 40 silly me i didn't realise that it wouldn't play midi which i thought sux only good for audio clips which takes from the live element . for starting tracks off maschine is friggin awesome but being a live user i find myself always arranging in it ableton.....

Absolutely. Ableton really outdid themselves. Push 2 is so useful and well thought out for so many different work flows.

yeah even though it still looks greek, I love it and will get one for learning and working with Ableton even though I will also have a basic keyboard.

Hi Vanandruel! Most likely you will have to adjust the warp markers by hand. With a mouse it really doesnt take that much time. Check out our Ableton Live Core I course. We show you some quick techniques and great workflow when warping. online.beatdrop.ca/
