I hope you can shed some insight for me. With the Taylor Freelance base plates are you using the 7 or 8 round with the sleeve attachment? Also, how concealable is the 4in barrel compared to the 3in barrel? Thanks in advance!
Just purchased and put it on it looks and feels great! But the msg doesn’t drop the way it does with yours. Wondering if it needs to be broken in? Also 2 year video how is it holding up? Any damage to the gun?
No issues on the original gun and magwell in the video. Now running a 4" Shield with dot that has the Maxwell and no issues there. I have one mag out of six that does not drop freely. I use it for training or as a reload mag.
Hello. I have a couple different magazine extensions on my mags. This product would help me out alot. I just don't know if it will work with the extensions I have. Which are: The Pearce +2 round extensions on the 8 round mags. The EMP +2 round extension on a 8 round magazine And an Amerigun extension on the 7 round magazine. Do you know if any of these will work? Thanks.
Unfortunately I don't know. It works with the Samson and Taylor Freelance extensions. Those are the only ones I have used. You can alway look at the profile of those extensions and see how they compare.
Some people are saying the screw that rests on the front of the magwell eats the front magazine pin that is there. Have you seen any wear? Just curious because I want to improve my shield but I don’t want to damage it.
I am familiar with the issue you are talking about. The screw goes into the mag catch spring hole. The hole is shallow and there is not much material between the front of the grip and the hole. On mine the magwell screw has deformed the opening of the hole some in the direction of the front of the grip. I wish the Samson magwell did not do that but I fear it is unavoidable if you run the pistol hard. It is purely cosmetic and in no way impacts the function of the magwell or gun. For me, the benefits of the magwell outweigh the minor cosmetic damage.
Just gotta use the slide release and it'll loosen up. It'll seem impossible for about the first 200 times but the slide release will eventually become usable 😂.
There's a video about how to lightly modify it. Use a jeweler file, and the side of the slide release closest to the rear, you'll slowly file away material creating a light curve until you reach the release tension you want. Did mine, and it works perfectly
Best I can tell it will not work. If it did, I would get a Shield Pllus for the additional rounds. Still hope Smith will eventually come out with a 4" Shield with the grip length like a Shield with an 8 round mag.
