In todays video I review the Samson Q7, a dynamic xlr microphone that has a decent sound. It is in no way the best sounding dynamic microphone I have come across, but for $50 it offers decent performance.

i love this mic! got mine yesterday for around $39.87. perfect for my home recording. my audio interface is my keyboard synth workstation since it has a mic in. 😊

I bought this mic about 3 or 4 years ago after watching this video. It just popped up in my recommended videos again, so I watched again. It's a good mic, specially because I only paid $30 for it, and I have been using it on everything since I got it. Of course, it's not as good as a 57, or a 58, but it gets the job done quite nicely.

Can you help you on my set up. I am doing exactly same set up with you. A Samson Q7 + Focusrite Scarlett solo but I am getting very low output volume than my Audio Technica AT2202. How do you set up your Interface so it work so well on Dynamic mic?

GREAT SONG! would be interested to hear remarks on how the Q7 frequency response vs shure sm58 affects source - and include typical various standard electric and acoustic instruments. man your videos has helped me a lot i just ordered the pdmic58 + windscreen + boomarm + shock mount and a xlr to usb cable got all my stuff just waiting for the xlr to usb cable to come anyways how does the Samson Q7 compares to the PDMIC58 ? like in your opinion.

Hello, does anyone know can I clean the microphone? I have a Q7 the same. It was stored for a long time in a kitchen cabinet and developed a white layer of moisture and / or grease. I do not know what material it is made of and I do not want to worsen its condition.

It is a good budget microphone for people who has soft voice. Samson Q7 take higher frequency. but they are not so sensitive for loudness term. but good at handling surrounding noise. worth it

I would probably say Rode Procaster or Shure SM7b out of the dynamic mics I've tested so far.

I find really hard using this mic with my band for the rehearsal. I am new to singing with microphone so it will be part of the problem...but for the best sound I need to be "kissing" the mic (moving two inches from the mic changes the sound drastically). And because I tend to sing with closed eyes, I usually miss the "sweet spot" or I hit the mic with my teeth... I really hope that if I buy SM58 I will be able to sing freely (I'd say I have above-average volume) and from a greater distance than "kiss". (When I sing without guitar, it is ok, because I can hold mic or mic stand with my hands but when Im playing a guitar + sing, I find really complicated to maintain consistent tone and volume.)

Turn up the gain and keep it a healthy distance away, don’t put your mouth up on it unless your screaming your brains out

can you test all the bm mics again with windows 10...cause i bought bm 700 and nw 700 and both doesnt sound like yours...i used syba soundcard ( but i think sabrent is better )

Reaper You should get a real Audio Interface. It can supply more power to the mic and you can easily set the Gain and so much more!

Is it possible for a Dynamic Microphone to work when plugged into an instrument input (inst) in an audio interface?

Mic will be a bit quieter running into instrument input. That's because "Inst" input are designed for higher input level.

Sure it's fixable in post, but it won't be as good as an input designed for the lower input of a microphone.

Because i plan to only buy an audio interface with one mic in and one instrument in because that is only what my current budget can handle. Sometimes i work with two mics, one condenser and one dynamic.

Ummmm ... what do you call a "pop shield or "plosives" filter? I have the Q7 and the Shure SM58 beta and both mike balls have the foam inside them ... isn't THAT the pop shield??

Dimitri Milewicz That's a basic windscreen, but that is rarely sufficient to eliminate all plosives. For live shows, this may be fine, but for podcasting or recording, you don't want any plosives.

I would recommend anything over U37. You have to decide if you want USB or XLR mic though.

1:11 Is it just me, or the noise rejection of this mic is excellent? See how he's spinning the mic here and just going to the side rejects the sound by probably more than 50%?

Si lo estas usando para grabar algo con una pc, con cualquier software con el que estes editando (video o audio), tienes opcion de subirle al volumen mientras lo editas

Si lo estas usando para cantar en un karaoke o algo asi, puedes bajar la ganancia de entrada, y subirle al volumen del canal (en una mezcladora o en una bocina amplificada)
