Samsung Clothes Washer Getting Stuck At 9 Minutes Will Not Enter High Speed Spin Cycle

Our 2015 model year Samsung clothing washing machine keeps on getting stuck at 9 minutes and will not enter the high speed spin cycle. I first tried replacing the shocks since the rear shock absorbers were completely worn out. That helped, but the washer still won't start a high speed spin cycle. I had the machine entirely disassembled and the spider arm assembly looked fine and the bearings seem to be in good shape, but the drive shaft on the spider arm or the bearings must be worn out enough to cause it to oscillate and become unbalanced. (My washer model number is WF42H5200AP/A2.)

Update 9-21-2024 - I removed the silicone rubber from the power inverter board to help keep it from overheating and causing the pausing, unlocking and not spinning issue. That worked well for a few months and now the machine is having problems again.

Update 7-26-2024 - The washer started having issues again completing a high speed spin. I suspected that the generic shock absorbers had worn out after almost a year of use. To make the generic shock absorbers firm again, I applied the very thick Nyogel 767A damping or "dampening" grease to the shock pistons. If the metal insert on the door that goes into the locking mechanism is loose that will also cause it to not spin high. Two screws to tighten, that's all. Thats what was wrong with mine, a 2020 model.

Hi, thank you for the tip! I actually took apart my washer again yesterday to check the generic shock absorbers I installed last year. I bought some Nyogel 767A damping grease just in case some very thick grease on the shocks would help it spin high speed again. I'll try tightening the door latch screws. Edit - It looks like the metal insert on the door for my 2015 washer is supposed to have some play. It is mounted on two oval shaped plastic pegs and the two Phillips head screws were already tight. I'll be applying the Nyogel 767A to my shocks tomorrow. I think it will help since one of the rear shocks felt very loose when I checked them today. The washer had been able to complete a high spin for most loads right after I replaced a ton of parts last year. I replaced the spider arm & drive shaft, both bearings, tub seal and all four shocks. So I'm guessing that the generic shocks only last for about a year before they stop dampening as well.

Here's the Nyogel 767A damping grease on Amazon - amzn.to/3y8xsOW It's more than I wanted to spend for a small tube of grease but apparently it's the best damping grease for making the shock absorbers firm and move slowly like the OEM parts when they are new.

Hi, I had to replace a bunch of parts. It works much better now. A very heavy load of towels will still have issues but for 99% of our needs, it is fixed. I replaced the four shock absorbers, two bearings, tub gasket, rear main tub seal and the spider arm assembly. @@StarD435Try checking the metal insert on the door that goes into the door locking mechanism. If that is loose it will keep getting stuck. Two screws to tighten that is all. That's what was wrong with mine, a 2020 model.
