Don't take this the wrong way ! i've been a computer technician for years, but i've got to a point where can't we keep things simple and reliable anymore !? stuff like this will last 3 years max ! then the firmware will be out of date etc ! less reliable, what next bread toasters with a tablet screen ! people seem to want screens on everything !
Hi does your fridge makes like a rattlesnake sound? I bought the same fridge and is making that noise. It’s getting annoying and Samsung keeps telling me is a normal sound 🤔
Just ordered one, and engineering state of mind kick in. So I need to install extra led lights, add some soft close system on top of the doors, and retrofit some sliders for drwaws, for water dispenser tray with magnetic stripe. A bit much for this price. But after it will be perfect.
I Stick a £10 tablet to my fridge and having the same functionality if not better because at least they update the tablet software and firmware unlike like this fridge. Seriously only dumb people buy stuff like this
Definitely a smart frige they are selling very fast they are probably the best selling fridge freezer from Samsung but a few changes to it like a better camera 📸 and one in the door that would be a great improvement to it
Thank you so much! Wanted to know if the Family Hub would be worth it and I think you've sold me on it. I do agree with the lights; I think one on each side of the fridge going up and down would have been a better design but still great, nonetheless.
I as a joke put my Samsung Tablet on my fridge only to have it stick. WTF? How? Well it turns out that the Samsung Tablet has speakers that have large enough magnets that make the table stick to your stainless steel fridge. Don’t believe me? Go try it!! I have been using it for 2 years with no issues. Pretty cool! :-)
I Hope My waiting doesn't be in vain. I'm waiting because you are absolutely correct when you say it's so dark inside. That was the one thing i couldn't understand when checking out refrigerators in the store. I couldn't understand WHY it was the DARKEST interior lighting out of all of the refrigerators that i opened.....Come on Samsung...I'm waiting and ready to spend my money with you! I have to stay 22 cubic...because that's all of the room i have to put my new refrigerator
I replaced all of my appliances with Samsung and nearly all of them have failed. I'm on the phone with Best Buy now for the Samsung Refrigerator because the freezer stopped working this week. I wish I had my old appliances back. Washer Dryer, Dishwasher, Stove, Fridge. Beautiful Feature Rich Junk.
We just got one and have all the same exact issues with it. No shallow drawers in the fridge is a big disappointment. The lighting is terrible. It seemed OK when it was empty at the store, but as soon as you put stuff in there, the bottom shelves are so dark it looks like there's a bulb out. Now I"m probably going to take my brand new fridge and modify it to add more LED lighting, oh yay. Our old 20 year old GE side by side fridge it replaces is way nicer inside (especially when I replaced the bulbs with modern bright LEDs) The missing bottom shelf in the freezer section is bizarre. Now were're out shopping for crappy add-on shelves that will never fit nicely. The deepest one seems to be like 10" when the fridge shelves are 18" deep. So the space behind those add-on drawers is lost. Samsung should at least offer things like that as accessories that are sized for the fridge they sell. The single camera on a side by side is useless. I went to the store yesterday and wondered if I had milk. Great, I'll pull up my fancy new app and see. Oh, that's on the door shelf, can't see that. Is there any creamer? Oh that's on the door shelf also handy to pull when I need. Great I have a wonderful view of the leftovers in containers on the main shelf. Can't see the top shelf, and can't see the bottom shelf. The other thing is temperature regulation. The freezer is set to 0° but the thermometer that I put in to track high and low reads from -2° to -19°. No wonder the cream seems fine one moment and the next, it's hard as a rock.
Were you able to find an alternative shelf for the freezer door? It really bothers me that they had the space for the shelf bin but didn’t include one.
Fancy. Too fancy. I'm concerned about technical issues related to the hub becoming an expensive repair in the future. I like Samsung products, but I'd rather go with a more practical option. Thanks for the review!
The interior compartments are pretty much nonexistent and the poor lighting is a huge letdown and dealbreaker for me. The exterior design is beautiful and the smart screen and all aspects of it look and sound great. But this fridge is an easy skip for me. Great review btw.
Good video. Great review. I'm upset about the limited lighting within, but my current one lights up whenever it wants anyway. What's the icemaker like? Does it take a while for the basin to fill?
A lot of people have issues with the ice maker. I agree that it's probably the least impressive feature on this fridge. It does take a while to fill and the ice sometimes gets stuck in the hole. But if you need an entire basin, I suggest just removing the entire ice bin from the freezer and dumping the whole thing into the basin.
Thanks so much for the video. Very well explained, I decided not go get this refrigerator.I am just not willing to pay an extra thousand for the same apps I can get through my phone, tablet and smart tv.
Thanks for the review... What I liked most was that you included both pros and cons (much better and honest review than what the company would advertise). I still wouldn't buy one with a display. Seems useless to me.... but hey, that's just my opinion.... Thanks again!
Well, i just completed reading all of the comments and responses. I believe Samsung has seen your video and review concerns. There will be updates for sure. Do you know if update models are being done with Samsung and a release date? I googled when is the best time to purchase a new refrigerator and google said the month of May, when new models are released and old models are priced to clear...Patience is a Virtue, your video and honesty is really making me have patience, although all of the appliances are sitting on the water in containers and can't be unloaded for whatever reasons.....sigh
Well as a refrigerator it's fine. But I just don't know what they did with the family hub. I think the intention was so you could controll all your Samsung smart appliances in one place. But it's useless if you don't have any of them. I don't even use the hub anymore TBH. I'm also just trying to be patient and keeping my eyes peeled for an update.
@@CheapCheeky Please, keep me posted when and if they fix that...I love gadgets, but, i really do need a new frig and my kitchen is all samsung...not my washer and dryer though...and those WON'T be, no time soon, if i can help it. And, even if i go with the samsung without the hub, they still need to improve the lighting...I'm truly praying for that improvement
Hello how is your Samsung Hub doing now? Is there a light on the Ice/water dispenser? I'm shopping for a fridge LGs side by side 26 cu ft broke 4 years into are investment. I loved how big it was had 0% complaints about it. But it just died no warning and my extended warranty cashed it out and LGs class action lawsuit isn't doing anything speedy, no repair from the repair shop they set is up with. The repair shop was even aloud to close my ticket with out a repair. LG hasn't even called emailed back to check on the repair that they was so concerned about be fixed and being fix correctly.
There is no light on the ice/water dispenser unfortunately. The water dispenser is my biggest beef tbh. But that's because my old fridge had a really nice one. No other issues with the fridge so far, thankfully! *Knock on wood*
@@CheapCheeky Thank you we went with the 28cu ft. Samsung French door 2 drawers It still has Bixby to remotely monitor adjust temps with fast cool. This is only my third day owning it. The Ice/ Water indoor has a light on this model. Looks the same as the one in your hub version. I was noticing a drip forming where the water comes out but has stopped now because I have the kids switching the buttons back to ice position. They are not making water messes because I'm having them hold the cup and using the back of hand that holds the cup to push the button. I would like to also add the water coming out when pushing the button seems to be more controlled slowing down as the button is pushed for longer times. We did already have a Google hub in the kitchen And when we went back to lowes looking at instore models noticed that some had lights on them. So we went with one in stock that had a light.
It sounds like an awesome fridge! I'm a little jealous of the light, not gonna lie. LOL! Wonder if mine is just not working? Hmm. Your tip is super helpful regarding the drip. I will have to try that. I hope it works for your family for many years. Thank you so much for the update! ♥
I can only open my Freezer about 90 degrees and I'm able to access the drawers, but it's very tight. I'm not sure how it would work with the fridge though as those drawers are bigger.
Im getting the black edition for my home which is being built. It’ll be the centerpiece of our new kitchen. Cant wait. It is very pricey in Europe tho at €2400. Also this is a fridge that can connect trough the mart things platform with other smart devices and has a ring video doorbell function. Hopefully i can get a good black friday deal
After 6 months of having this refrigerator, the damn ice maker started giving us problems. I haven't had ice for 6 months.. Yes its fancy and impressive and allows you to do so many things but its frustrating as hell that you can't ger an ice cube out of it.
@@CheapCheeky First the ice maker started providing less ice and then about a month after, no ice at all. We have the one with the freezer on the bottom but it looks exactly like yours. Most of the youtube videos feature older versions of the refrigerator. We also haven't had any sound for about a month. So I don't get the musical alerts and can't even play Amazon music which is one of the things I used to love to do. It's frustrating because we bought this last July. Bixby listens and answers with text but there is no sound.
FYI, everyone seems to be buying standalone ice makers these days as the build-in ones are generally terrible. As for not having sound anymore, that is disheartening. It does show a 10 year warranty sticker in the vid. Was that fixed under warranty? I'm considering purchasing this fridge.
We just got the exact same fridge and I was wondering why it doesn't have the bottom tray on the door in the freezer. Thanks for saying something, I thought they forgot it...lol Is there anywhere that you can order one ? It'd be nice to have... Thanks for the review !!! :-)
I feel like the regular Samsung Bespoke is more than adequate as a fridge...I bought this Family Hub and I feel so damn pretentious and a bit foolish for getting it. The Family hub is basically a redundant piece of tech. I don't need to use a camera to see inside my fridge...I can just open it. I have a smart phone with as many apps as I need...there is absolutely no need for my fridge to have these apps. I only got the family hub because I was in a bind and it was on sale and I couldn't get the regular Bespoke in time. I would not recommend the Family Hub...I'd recommend the regular Bespoke.
Wowwee wow! The bespoke is gorgeous! Your comments made me giggle because I said the same things about the family hub in my updated review. But when it's time to replace it, I'm going to check out the bespoke. Thanks for the tip!
Bixby.. LOL Ive never been a fan. Prime example 2:17 to 2:18 what was that a 30 min load time? Literally changed the lighting in the house. Buuuuut you have me excited about this fridge, a shame its back ordered until Jan.
Hah! Yeah Bixby is really slow. I hardly ever use it TBH. I prefer to use Alexa app which does pretty much the same thing. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. Let me know if you end up getting the fridge!
I have a wall right next to the fridge and the freezer door hits it so I can't open it more. Check out my follow up video (linked below) and you can probably see what I mean. But I bet it opens all the way like the fridge door does.
@@CheapCheeky actually that is what I am looking for like how much space is between your fridge and the wall. I have a very similar space to work with and I have seen some samsung refrigerators that can't be close to a wall. They need like more than 3 inches for the door to be able to open at all
I recently purchased samsung family hub latest model but after 1 week it started tripping. Not being able to enjoy at all due to frequent tripping :(, can you tell me what outlet your fridge is plugged into?. My house is newly constructed and have GFCI outlets. Did you have any such issues?
Eek! I'm not sure what kind of outlet it is because it's behind the fridge. But I haven't had any issues with it tripping. Maybe the outlet is faulty? Sorry I can't be of more help. I don't know much about that stuff.
Warning do not purchase Samsung refrigerator. It’s the worst nightmare ever. Samsung has a class action against them for the refrigerator is not working do not purchase Samsung refrigerator. Whoever is posting information about some of the refrigerator please do us all a favor and remove that please you have no idea what kind of nightmare people go through with this refrigerator.
It really just depends on what features you want. If you really want a tablet for your fridge, then I say go for it. But if you are more concerned with additional storage features like additional dairy drawers or a lighted water dispenser, then that should be more of a priority. IMO, the tablet is nice but I could live without it.
Ugh I'm sorry. Maybe you can reach out to Samsung directly to see if they can offer some assistance. Unfortunately, I don't have expertise in this type of thing. Please let me know if you get it sorted out. I'm sure it will help other viewers if they experience this as well.
I've got the same fridge except the only notable difference being the view inside on mine is of four shelves not two of which there is a major design floor that my fridge has only the one light shining down from above so if the top shelf is over 50% covered it blocks the light and view of the other shelves. So basically the view inside is completely useless. Have you got just the one light in your fridge?
Hi Leighton! Yes, there is only one light in the fridge and I agree it's not very bright ( 5:28 ). At least you are able to get a better view of the shelves. I wonder why that is, if you have the same model?
@@CheapCheeky My apologies, I must have missed that part about the one light. I think there are slight deviations between UK and US models. Mine is RS68N8941SL. I agree with all the improvements you suggested Samsung need to make but my girls seem to enjoy interacting with the screen so that's a bonus for me.
since my phone doesn't have a weather forecast feature and notes I have no choice but to get one. Or maybe 800 fridge and an iPhone? Confused. Btw the water dispenser hasn't been used even once, a totally useless "feature". So overall this fridge is a shitfridge but they added one more screen to dumbed you down and cash.
Hi Sundar! I got this fridge as part of a campaign for Samsung Insiders. But you can find it through Samsung, and I think it's now available Lowes and Best Buy too. I believe it retails for about $1900-$2400. The doors are super smooth, but they are heavy, so you need to push them to close. They don't shut on their own. Thank you for commenting!
They just released a horrible update! And unfortunately, I have no idea how the hub works anymore 😩😭 I sent them a complaint and right now I'm just waiting for the next update to see if it's any better.
@@CheapCheeky Hi! we just ordered this since it was on sale, but I just saw this comment about the hub D: Did it end up getting fixed for you guys? Thanks for the video it was very helpful, hope you have a nice rest of your year as well!
I bought my refrigerator about a month ago and the ice dispenser is not dispensing ice. Customer service sucks, even worse is their warranty service provider. I had to take a day off from work to wait for the technician ... who did not show up or bother to call to cancel or reschedule. Frustration with Samsung!
Samsung warranty is a big issue! Ice maker doesn't work!!! It will take a month for tech to come and fix it and it's costly!!! LG is the same. Go for GE and Maytag I got GE not one issue for 5 years now.
I've heard this from a lot of people. My friend said that when her ice maker stopped working it ended up being a software issue. I would think they would have updated the software to fix this issue by now.
@@CheapCheeky my brother has a Samsung fridge and his stop working within a year, he called tech support and they said he would have to pay for it because the part may not be under warranty. He said he would never buy any Korean products again. He had one of his friends do it and it works half the time. The condenser blew out which is a known issue with Samsung and LG. Stay with Frigidaire, Maytag and GE (same fridge with good warranty and parts and labor are not costly). So we bought a GE and has been going strong for 6 years with no issues.
It was on the lower end of the smart fridge models. But I agree with you about the drawers. My previous fridge was not a smart fridge but had little things I miss on this one. Thank you so much for watching and commenting! 💕
