Dang that performance test was really dissappointing for Samsung. If they're gonna bust out a new midrange to replace a great previous gen, they should always maintain/upgrade. Never downgrade!
That's the thing though. They upgraded the performance. Previous Galaxy A52 used Snapdragon 750G. However, due to the fact they released the A52s with the Snapdragon 778, people will compare it with that. Need to wait for Samsung to release the A53s with Dimensity 9000 to compare faithfully.
Samsung trolls apple for removing headphone jack, charger from the box and then do the same. It's a shame they don't provide a charger with a mid ranger.
Just acquired an A52S 5G. Using it for several days and very happy. Much better than my A50, which was a great phone, but slow response at times, which was getting irritating. My new phone has a head phone jack, which is the main reason I did not bother with the s21 or s22. I use the jack daily at work. The smaller display size of the s21/s22 and price were also a good reason not to buy. Love my A52, so the A53 can take a back seat after watching this video! Thanks for your great review!
@@xdadev when there's enough light, the pictures turn out stunning. Even in dark with night mode, the pictures look okay but certainly not as good as pictures in bright light
Actually just ordered this one. My first Samsung! I'm excited! Love your personality and video! While many are implying this isn't the best Samsung, for my first Samsung it definitely seems decent!
Thx for the review! I recently went for the A52s 5G. Seemed a much better deal to me. Only thing the A53 has going for it, is the longer software support... Not really an upgrade worth the extra $ IMHO (CPU wise even a downgrade = WTF Samsung?).
@@Mike.Tech. I got the a52s a couple days ago, for me it was £30 cheaper (argos) and I also got the free buds live. It already seemed like a better choice out the two with the cpu performance and inclusion of headphone jack and it had the same buds live offer
I went for the A52s 5G. Because compared to the A53, the A52s has a better Processor, a headphone jack, and it comes with a charging brick. They're both the same price (in my country). So the A52s is clearly the better option in my opinion.
I am planning to buy one bro. Tell me which is for sure better A52 s or A53. I am not s gamer i thing not a heavy gamer maybe just sometimes i can play but not dependet of that.
I've had this phone for just under a week now, and I can honestly say I haven't had any issues with it. At first I didn't like how slow the camera was, but after tweaking some settings I'm happy with the speed. I haven't found performance to be an issue at all, although I don't play any games on my phone, and I never have. I did notice that there was occasionally some stuttering when using youtube picture-in-picture, but it seems to have almost completely dissipated. The only thing I'm really missing is wireless charging, but that's more of a convenience thing than anything, as I never used it often before.
@@DeanTheDoctor Glad to hear about the speakers. I'm looking for a phone with better audio than camera (camera fetish seems to be all the rage in 2022)
@Sam Phappalapa I feel you my friend. Is good to be happy with "it's just enough" at times. 😊 If you're still looking, The S10 series seem to have good speakers too and you may even be able to get them a bit cheaper. I got a S10 5G, and it's amazing. It's brilliant when compared to my LG G8, the soundstage is much clearer and the screen is much more comfortable for typing. It produces lows and mid lows that my old phones never could, making it much easier to research, and convey audio accurately. While it's not perfect, It sounds fantastic and I have no regrets. 😇 I only ever had my hands on the a52; it was also better than my G8 and had a more comfortable viewing experience, and the A53 will be a bit better than the A52, but the larger screen of the S10 5G suits my uses. That 6.7" screen actually seems quite normal now, but the A52/A53 series is also more slim and pocketable. Best regards. 😊🌎
Hello! I just bought the A53 and I see reviews online that the phone lags a lot+motherboard issues. I'd like to know how your phone is keeping up. Please reply asap so I can decide what to do with this
When I first heard about the A53 5G, I considered upgrading. But when I heard it would feature an Exynos processor, I went for the more affordable and more capable A52s 5G.
it is a downgrade, unless you're after longer os and security support then this phone is for you but if you're after the best bang for you're buck the A52s is a better buy
Kicking it with a Galaxy S20+ with 12GB RAM, Snapdragon 865, Micro SD support. Never happier. Nearly no compromises, downgrades or questionable feature omissions (other than the 3.5mm headphone jack RIP)
@Wyatt Partridge I am about to upgrade from my S8+. And it's between the S20 Fe, and the A53 5g. The only thing is, the S20, I know, is nearly done with update support. But, I am considering it, considering my S8+ has done me well since release. I just want to have sd card storage, so I won't pick a newer one.
@@christhecieraguy1388 Yeah, solid phones still. I believe Android 13 next year is the final major update to the S20 series. Might still get a few security updates after that. We'll see.
Chris, many thanks for this review. I took the plunge on a A53 after a few weeks of frustrations from a Redmi 10S after coming from an old Honor 10 View. I am actually very happy with the way the Samsung works, the user interface is nicer than the MIUI on the Redmi (yet not quite as intuitive as the old Android 10 MUI on the Honor) There are settings in this that are so logical, being able to do fairly simple stuff like unique tones for individuals and even per SIM (if you are one of those you uses a work sim and personal sim) then it makes the phone a joy to use. Perhaps one day a review on different versions on Android / Interface for things like notifications control, and even Dual SIM support and ability to isolate them or at least mute them out of work hours. cracking work soldier - you almost look sober these days. we need another review when bladdered i reckon - most entertaining.
Thanks for your review. I'm an old bloke who didn't understand most of what you said but your assessment helped me to choose this as my 5 yearly upgrade, from an LG G5.
It's a really great overall mid range phone with a fluid UI, which makes browsing on the internet, switching through apps pretty fast and efficient obviously due to its ram and processor. Camera is definitely decent also. Managed to snatch a deal through Amazon as they had a combo deal for the A53 and the buds wireless for like 520$. I honestly don't see that much of a difference between this phone and the other upper range galaxy phones.
0 upgrades from the A52s, just a crappy exynos and no headphone jack and no charger in the box of a budget phone, but who cares Samsung fans will buy it anyways.
@@andrewdaley3081 None of the new Samsung phones will ever have a charger. Even if it did have one.. 25W? Really? My 7 year old Motorola X Style can do 25W as well.. my current budget phone that is cheaper than this hunk of garbage does 65W fast charge..
Hi Chris, Lovely video. However, I would like to request you make a video about a comparison between A53 and S21 FE. Even just your recommendation is appreciated as both the phones are on the affordable range. Thank you! Cheers.
I appreciate channel's like yours, always helps me pick my next phone. I've been using a Samsung A71 (first one got water damage within 1 week without being near water?) But second has been great so far, but well due for an upgrade 🤣😭
Thanks for the great review! On the loss of the 3.1mm headphone jack, no biggie. Just get type C USB headphones instead, if you need a quick plug option.
Longevity and having your phone last over two years while still being viable. But since people switch phones often these midranges are great for people who switch sooner and don't want to pay a kidney. Other people buy flagships for build quality and flagship features like wireless charging, and Dex.
The day i got my first Samsung phone in years! (A52s 5G) the 53 came on as new release and commercial. Bummed out how it seems the companies is just churning out new phones and my phone is now obsolete. I still got my beloves headphone jack that seems missing.... going to shut up and watch the video now 😄 Edit: hmm, seems the 53 isn't that great after all. No mention how A52s handles Genshin in compareson. Could be they need more firmware updates to get the new CPU shine.
Thanks for the review! Been looking to upgrade for a while, and am torn between the Pixel 6 and the A53, which one would you recommend? My priorities are battery life and a good camera.
@@aymanelzain1271 what if they don't want samsung's UI version called OneUI. i guess the main reason they want the Pixel is due to the stock android experience
Would love a budget phone round up for GAMERS please. Don't know if you have seen how many 'AAA' titles are coming to Mobile. Warzone , Apex , R6S and many more.
I sent back a Samsung Galaxy a52s, last week, when I heard you announce the Samsung Galaxy a53. I've had the a53 for a few days and here is the good and the bad. Yes, I miss having a headphone jack. Surprisingly the geekbench 5 test show the processor in the a53 is actually slower than the processor in the a52s. But faster than the Nord 10 phone that I had before. Samsung needs to stick with Qualcomm processors. Battery life also disappointing compared to the Moto g power up phones I had before which would easily class 3 days. On this a53 if I make it through the day it's just about right. I've actually reduced the refresh speed to 60 hertz, and that improves the battery. Good thing, the screen is bright.. Even better when working on the T-Mobile 5G network this phone is achieving 300 MB download speed, compared to my Moto g5g, and nord 10 phones, only achieving about 50 megabits download speed. Bottom line, it's a nice phone, with a nice display, much faster download speed, but poor battery performance. 0h, the SIM card tray is weird. You put the SIM card on one side, then flip it over to put the SD card on the other side. That is not written in the instructions.
@@agentsarcas6891 The phone is holding up fine. I immediately put a case on it. My first issue with the phone, is that I thought the 5000 milliamp batteries would give me days of use, like the one on my Old Moto G. Well, it doesn't. You can make it through the day, but that is about it. But the one advantage of the phone is it consistently pick up faster 5G cellular speed, than my Moto G (separate cell number), even if I am testing them at the same exact spot, getting the same cell tower signal. One strange thing to complain about. It is said that Samsung will give you unlimited updates for X amount of years. Well, that it definitely true, because it seems to update at least once every two months. It is not a negative, it is just that it sometimes ask me to update, when I don't want it to.
@@genet6255 thank you. I really glad to hear this from a user cus all I got was complaints from other users. The battery issue is certainly bothersome. Have you cleared the bloatware and uninstalled unwanted apps which run in the background, doing the same helped on my dad's F62 which had a same issue. But a day's worth of battery is good enough for me. Good to know that the phone has decent 5G reception, albeit it's not available in my city yet. It's definitely not strange to not want to update your phone. Updates could either break or improve the performance of the phone. But, isn't the once in 2 month update the security updates? Or are those os updates? Thank you very very much for your input. I've seen various complaints online but I'm glad it's not the same for everyone. Hope you have a wonderful day bud
I've just purchased a A53.. I placed a preorder for the release date of the 1st but got it some 7 day before.. not sure why. It's a good phone for the price especially when samsung are currently are offering enhanced trade in.. got £110 off for a cracked Huawei p20. Few issues so far.. face ID is hit miss and the finger print reader is quite slow. I have seen some lagging in places if you have a few apps running in the background, but hopefully that gets cleared with the following updates. Also the awesome peach is more like 16yo girl face foundation pink 😅
Smartthings can do quite a bit more than Google Home, though the best workup is hooking up devices in smartthings and then hooking smartthings to Google Home.
Just bought it today, overall performance is smooth. Camera is above from what i expect it to be, soo nicee. battery can last about 6-7 hours using 60hz. Idk the gaming performance for this phone since i dont play many games. I think the length to width ratio for this phone is not so good bcs it feels a bit long.
I don’t get it its a midrange phone and people who buy it dont have the same needs as ones who buy flagships i mean removing the jack and charger is ridiculous.. plus this years version is literally a downgrade from the A52s.. Samsung is getting worse with each passing year🙄
@@kankikankkinen2670 well maybe you do but some people don’t and even if they do those might be slow chargers so its gonna take 5 days to charge those big batteries..
I can only afford midrange phones. I would really like to buy a Samsung device but compare to Xiaomi I can get better specs and features for the same price.
I've been using this for 2 years now I'll tell you this. It does not do well in the rain. Had to buy another just the first year of using it after the mother board got destroyed by the rain. Doesn't do well in the heat either, the gum weakens fast. Side paint chips out. But it's overall good. Just good. Getting s22 next month so I'll finally get to drop it.
Hey man! Loving the channel! I was wondering if you could let me know whether or not you can move app storage to the SD on this phone? I had the A21s before which was great for the money, but you were unable to store apps on the SD card so it ate up the memory on it like nobodies business! Thanks!
Hi really enjoy your vids, very down to earth. Can I ask a question, I’m new to android and have decided to migrate over from iOS. I have just purchased this phone, I see there’s a general consensus that it’s not much of an upgrade from the a52, having never had that phone, will I still find it a good performing phone. Also coming from an iPhone XR. Cheers mate also not using it from gaming, just day to day activities
In addition to that, i need strong security to those expensive phones. Somebody gonna stole and no track or trace of it. End of your money,It really pains.
I love it too! I've connected my Gmail account to Outlook & use it on my laptop & phone. It's so much better than standard Gmail for inbox management & organisation.
Ah, the A 53, I regard the the 50s range of Samsung as the benchmark for a years basic technological must have and you spent your own money to bring us this review, man, you are a saint, thanks (£400 is not a small sum especially when you already have hundreds of phones beging for your sim) I wish I could send you a bottle of Ugandan brew but he'll it is what it is thanks though.
Fairly easy to get this as low as £230(ish) already from Samsung - just need access to a student account and a phone to trade in - I traded in something I got from ebay for £4.
Weak processor and no charger mean I won't be buying this device although it ticks all the remaining boxes for me. Currently on OP7 Pro. Not a gamer. Battery life/fast charging and multimedia experience matter more to me. Will get the Realme X7 Max instead. 4 years software update seemed too nice to pass on initially, but then it turns out I've only kept my previous devices for 2 years then change them, so what good do 4 Android updates do me? Taking out the charger for "environmental reasons" is just corporate speak for more profit which pissed me off even more. Thanks, but I'll get a device from a brand that doesn't take its customers for tools.
Thanks for the information. Very helpful. Just got myself one, not because I want a new 📱 but I broke the screen on my A70 BAD!🤬 since I have an additional SD card in my A70,is there a slot for this in A53?
