Surprised that no one is even thinking about the (hybrid) microsd slot. Just got an a55 3 days back, and converted one of my sim to esim to get the microsd in. Cannot tell you how big a relief it is to have all my older files, photos and videos etc on the go still on my phone. If the s23 fe had a microsd slot or a 512gigs version, it would have easily been a choice. But 256gigs as the maximum option just stifles you a little bit as you need to push some files into your hard drive timely. Do miss the wireless charging though. AI features are not something that is a necessity. But you wouldn't find any other phone in this price segment with these features combined - performance, battery , a microsd slot and brand reputation. (Brand reputation is important here in India when you need to get your phone repaired as a lot of centers do not have all the parts on the go for phones like Iqoo, Nothing phone etc, takes them time to ship from other places).
The removal of the micro SD card slot on flagships is the most baffling thing I've ever seen. If you don't want to use expandable storage, simply don't use it. I love having the option though. I don't agree with the removal of the headphone jack, but I at least understand it (they want you to buy Bluetooth headphones). The removal of the micro SD card slot I'll never understand though.
I bought the a54 last year and it did not disappoint.. I am not a hardcore gamer but the phone performs decently.. Your review got me convinced to buy it amongst other competitors and it is really worth it! The display, the camera, superb! It doesn't matter if it's Exynos, I am very glad I got to watch your review.. Thank you & more power to your channel! 😊❤
I've had the S24 ultra and now have the A55. Battery life is better on WiFi with the A55. On 4G/5G they are about the same. The S24 ultra is slightly faster and smoother, but I think the difference is very small, very small. The big difference between the two is the cameras, that's where the big difference lies. So you pay 1000 euros extra, mainly for the cameras. If you are satisfied with a simple photo and you do not want to zoom much, the A55 is sufficient. But suppose I want to go back to Tomorrowland filming next year or to Rammstein or something? Then I would like to have a better smartphone camera again. This year I'm not really doing anything so I'm satisfied with the A55, more than adequate and it does everything I want and I can use all the apps and everything works quite well, sometimes the finger scanner can be annoying but I don't mind it that much.
I bought this phone 3 days before our vacation and the best part is, there are lots of local who offer to take a photo of visitors for less than $1 and they were good at it. I am amazed by the photos and makes me believe that this phone can capture good quality photos specially to those who can use it correctly. It lasts for about one and a half day to me and I really like the display. Definitely an upgrade that I need. Maybe I am a type of person who don't want to buy expensive things if theres a cheaper alternative but hey, if it works, theres no reason to buy the expensive one.
Gotten it at 295USD in Singapore for 8GB 256GB after watching your video on a55 before this Only gripe for me is when doing video recording, when switching lens between ultrawide and normal lens, it is not seamless. Other than this, phone is great! Screen is better than previous gens (and that is the reason why i didnt get the previous gen)
I started with the a15, but it was too laggy. Great battery life tho. Returned it. I ordered the a35, bit less battery life, not laggy at all but got hot l, returned it Got the a55 and its perfect, thought about returning it again for the fe, but i saw reviews that the battery life wasnt that good, so im keeping this a55, still waiting on the free samsung buds fe
I wasn't a fan of the A54 at first, but it ended up growing on me due to the software updates. That being said, I wish I would have waited a year for the A55. It's probably not worth it to upgrade from the A54 to the A55. I wonder if the battery life will improve on the A54 over time. The battery life on the A54 is pretty much average, but as you said in this video one of the advantages of getting a midranger is battery life and that's not necessarily the case with the A54.
@@whysoserious4464 yeah hopefully the battery life improves with additional software updates. There's no reason why a phone with a battery that big and a midrange processor should have average battery life.
I finally bit the bullet and sold my A54 to get the A55 and I'm actually really glad that I did. I'm a power user meaning that I stream TV on my phone. The games that I watch are about 3 hours long so that's basically 3 hours of screen on time right off the bat. I don't know how many hours of screen on time I get in general, but the A54's battery life simply wasn't good enough for me. The A55 on the other hand has great battery life and a much better chipset. I thought they improved the Exynos with the A54, but with the A55 I could honestly say Samsung improved the Exynos to the point where it's as good as a midrange Snapdragon chipset now.
I noticed a massive difference too. I fiddled with my mum’s A54 and found it quite laggy. I bought the A55 for my son last week and the performance is much better. I paid £265 and I found the price absolutely incredible for what this phone offers.
Watching on my a55, and i promise you trust me it just feels like a totally flagship and I'm not just talking about the visual looking, its vibration motor its performance its size its feeling in the hand and literally everything on this phone is just perfect specially on camera part
Good phone for 356 euro i paid in Belgium. But i make the phone faster with the developer settings, its better now. The only thing but thats normal is that the camera's are decent but not great but yeah, for that money, we now it. Fingerscan is here not always 100% working. *But its a great midrange phone.
If I could get a US version, I would consider it, but I can't use it with Verizon. Even worse is what you said about them dulling down the screen and camera. I want the color to go up, not down. I have an A54, which is a nice device, but the screen is smaller than I like and the camera autofocus is a weak point (on my A54 at least.) Since upgrading to the A55 is out, I'm considering the A35. The bigger screen, hopefully fixed autofocus, Gorilla Glass Victus plus, supposedly slightly improved Exynos 1380 (or better optimized), and slightly smaller bezels would make for a decent upgrade overall to the A54. But I'm worried that the screen colors may be muted, too. That's why I wanted you to review the A35. I don't want dull colors.
Since Steve's explained he can't justify personally getting an A35 for this hobby channel, maybe check out the site he contributes to Android Police? If you want RU-vid videos, I recommend Gadget Byte or Mobiscrub who both had good A35 vs A55 videos. Gadget Byte has photo comparisons in most videos (all phone vs. phone videos). Mobiscrub often has a download link for the photos he took for camera tests; I don't know if he did this for the A35.
I got my A55 around a month ago, and it's amazing! It's been giving me around 8 to 9 hours of screen-on-time, which is outstanding (the closest I've seen to this is my old Poco X3 NFC, which gave me 7 hrs SOT tops, but dropped to 5-6 pretty quickly). I love One UI, and this comes from a former Pixel UI fanboy 😂. Of course, there are some devices with more powerful chipsets, but they're either more expensive or outright bad on other departments such as cameras, updates, battery life, construction and so on; and while A55 may not be the best one out there at anything, it covers everything. The only real downsides I see is that you need to buy a charger (unless you already have one at home, of course), and the charging power is kind of low at only 25W, which is good for battery health, but OneUI allows you to turn it off anyway so I don't really see why they didn't include faster charging.
Gret video, thanks for sharing. I Definitely A55 is a great en better phone than others you said, but I still believe that an older Flagship, like S21 Ultra or S22 Plus has much better specs than A55 for the same price, and still have at least 2 yrs updates to get from the best of those phones . My humble opinion. Thanks for sharing
Your other video is the video that made me sure to buy this phone!. Mainly because you said it worked with tmobile, and that's exactly what i was looking to hear. And had 0 problems switching my sim card over and connecting to tmobiles network. Everything works perfectly. I was looking for a good new mid range phone that wasn't too cheap nor expensive. And I just wanted to buy it out right. My old phone was a Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. Still a quick phone, but everything else on it had fallen apart due to my daily use of it after years. Not the phones fault besides the camera problems it had out of the box :/. It was time for an upgrade. Some would say a downgrade. But I've been perfectly happy over the last week since owning my A55 I got on amazon. The same exact one you have in the vid. 256gb with 8gb of ram. Everything is quick as can be and battery is great. Camera's are honestly really good considering the price of the phone. And it's still SOO nice to have the micro SD card storage!. I saw a lot of haters on the A55.. but I dont really understand it. I don't ever game on my phone so i cant comment on that but honestly its been great and I'm extremely happy overall. Was out the door on Amazon with the phone , 512 gb micro SD card and case for $514.
I have been watching your content for a while now and keep with it. I am currently still using my Samsung Galaxy S20 FE, I bought my device back in June 2021, still works to this day and still takes decent photos. The battery life isn't that great, has deteriorated, but still lasts the whole day without gaming with around 3-5 hour SOT time. I am not bothered about software updates and looking to maybe upgrade next year to the S24 Ultra not sure yet.
Thanks for your review, I really appreciate it. After seeing your reviews, I bought an a55 over the s23 fe (coming from a Xiaomi Mi 11) for around $370 in our country and I enjoy it! The battery life is long and it suits all the things I do on the device. Not to mention I got this with a free Buds FE, charging brick, and a case :)
I was from galaxy A52 and just upgraded to A55, galaxy A55 definitely feels smoother and better, exynos vs snapdragon doesn't matter. I tried to play my fav game on this phone (you can check my channel to find out what game is it) and the experience is largely the same (I think all kinds of lag has nothing to do with the phone itself, but it's the game's server).
I am currently using this phone after watching your videos and tbh I found no issue along side with it Gaming absolute smoothness and also fluid However one problem this phone basically heats quick rapidly to 43°c which I wouldn't really care but that's the only problem Other than that this phone is acc pretty good for its price range and has a premium build to it U really should buy this phone ❤
The reason why they didn't want to bring the a55 and quote me if I'm wrong that would have been the true fan edition for Price performance and what you get it would make the Fe truly inferior for the price
Not only the FE. I think it would make the S series look pointless to buy in general. It pretty much has the build quality of a flagship, an SD card slot which the S series doesn't have, and the look and feel of a flagship. If a person who doesn't know anything about phones walks into a phone store, saw this next to the S24, and compared the price difference there's absolutely no way that person is picking up an S24. If a person wants a really high end camera, a high end processor, and some of the features that the A series doesn't have, that person would be willing to spend literally spend double the price. Those people are in the minority though. Samsung was smart for not releasing this phone in the US.
Using A52s since may 2022, i felt Samsung hasn't released another A series phone worthy of replacing A52S. But I guess this year they finally did, planning to buy this phone in August currently in my country this phone is on sale for $335 only.
My a52 overheated really bad with gaming. I then went to the base model s23 and the speakers were horrible and the ram was constantly full and extremely sluggish. I got the a54 5g for $60 when I switched carriers. At first when the a54 was learning my habits and all it would overheat, it was sluggish but now it's pretty good. I'm up to par with people who have the s21 ultra, s22 ultra in Call Of Duty Mobile. The only thing that is an issue with me on the a54 is the plastic frame. Retail it's $450, for that pricing it should have came with an aluminum frame
I've went ahead and bought the A34 instead. Actually, I merely saw that on a massive sale bargain and considering it had a non-exynos chip, I felt cute and purchased it. I'm curious how much of a upgrade-/-refresh it will be to a Galaxy S9+. I've had it since launch and the battery was already mediocre at 3500 and since I never replaced it, I'm sure I've lived with the performance of around 2600mah - likely. So it'll be a massive upgrade other way to go to a full blown 5000mah phone.
The price in my country is $340. I prefer the A55 over the OnePlus 12R because of its build quality, appearance, software updates, One UI experience, and sound quality that I believe is better on Samsung. What is your opinion ?
If Samsung sells this phone in the US (and I mean the 12GB RAM version, too), then I'll probably trade up. Until then, nah. My A54 is at least 8/10 of what that phone is.
Based on what I've seen the A55 is a worth it upgrade over the A54 but only because Samsung could but won't make the A54 better. It won't give it a better front facing camera and better 1080p 60fps video stabilisation. It's all a marketing strategy.
It’s kind of a non-thing. Was announced a while ago it’s just now going through. They use the network anyway so as long as prices stay the same. You won’t notice anything.
Horrible gaming at this price, s20 exynos level... Samsung midrangers are not for gaming at all Rather buy an older flagship, save, or go for a different brand.
So; you go from a porsche to a fiat? Pixel 8 pro is offcourse better. I have A55, good phone, but i had also S24 ultra, i miss my S24 ultra now for the camera's and better video recording. But i needed the money so i sold the phone and bought an A55. But for example an S22 plus is better then the A55. ;). Or an S23 etc... also better then the A55. If camera's not important? Then you can buy if you want that A55 and make the phone faster to unlock developer settings and then animation i set it 3 times off, then the phone is faster. I had also that pixel 8 pro but i also do not like that software, samsung is so much better.
@@FlubFlubber i just like the oneui better but i agree with you that the Pixel 8 pro is a better phone i will go for the s23 or even the s24 then thanks for the reply bro
What better support s23fe was out in october, just little bigger display, no telephto cam no wireless charging, much slower processor, and yeah dynamic amoled is better then super amoled, no ai be real s23 fe is more expensiv because it's better..
