I looked at the A55 as a possible upgrade to my A54, but discovered it was indeed no upgrade. The display is not as good on the A55. I could see no difference in the 120hz display or the performance in the 10 minutes we spent comparing. Then we were told that there will be carrier issues with the 55. Some carriers will not work with the device. Not a problem with the 54. We already moved providers for a substantial savings. Thanks for an honest review.
I thought the a55 has a little better camera in some instances. But the a54 is also pretty good, just the colors are the old samsung saturated style and the a55 is more natural colors kind of like the Pixel.
Toned down saturation that looks more natural and less overexposure on the A55 is fine for me but the sharpness is what breaks it. The A55 is quite less sharp on smaller details and got me disappointed when I was testing it at the Samsung store in my area.
Delicious Steve, does the S23 FE still have the traditional punchy colorful display? And does it still have the more colorful pictures? I am deciding between A55, A35, and S23 FE. Which would you recommend?
This A series is at a point were value wise it hard to justify a flagship for many especially with it's similar appearance and build quality. If an s24fe is released I suspect you will be getting 95%* of a s24. The gap is getting smaller every year.
@@Deadlines-X It is surprising they dropped the cards from the FE line. Likely by design to force people who want S series features (dex, zoom, wireless charging) to pay more for larger internal GB models. Personally I wish the headphone jack was still on samsung phones.
The S series have better processors and less bezels, and the S series also have the ultra version with the S pen....but to the average user the fe would be the better choice
@@devilkazumi578 I agree the S is the better phone but it's interesting how the gap from A has closed in build and appearance. I do question if internal components that are not reviewed easily are quite different. I recall last years samsungs video quality both audio and image stabilization wise was noticeably improved every step up of the line when tested.
Awesome real experience review. Im still holding on to the S20Fe for the telephoto camera, but the a55 could be a good upgrade. Unfortunately the S20 FE's plastic back is not holding up with time, it began to delaminate and separate from the frame, it is definitly not water resistant at this point. Good phone otherwise.
Like you said if you have the A54 no point in upgrading.. i still like the A54 and it works good enough for me man... it take calls and text messages good, takes ok pictures, its fast enough for me, i dont game on mobile, i have a steam deck for that eh and yeah for the most part teh A54 is still holding up for me.... i had to upgrade from the A53, but the A54 holds up for me.... i will indeed wait for the next A phone, the camera on A55 looks to me not as good as the A54 i dont really care for th camera stuff and i dont expect good cameras on mid range phones,... but a phone is a phone and it works great as a phone and that is what i use it for.. i use to buy all the next gen of samsung A phones, but im just wasting money and also more e=waste ... cheers.
I think it's good that Samsung is now consistently using premium materials in the mid-range. That's why the A55 is definitely a good buy because of the better hardware - especially when the price has fallen in a few months and the updates have been made. But I have an A54 and am completely satisfied with it. Maybe again next year or the year after.
I loved my A54 when I first got it because of the premium feel and the display, but I eventually got tired of it mainly because of battery life. I think all of the new A series phones are too bulky also. Performance on the A54 is decent, but it could be better. I should have went with the A34 instead which is a fraction of the price of these two phones and also has better battery life than the A54. I ended up going back to my A52 and using that as my daily driver after the Android 14 update. The A52 on Android 14 is actually still a great phone. I'll probably switch back to my A54 after android 15 comes out or sell my A54 and get either the A34 or the A55. The price of the A55 will probably be much lower by the time android 15 comes out also.
I had A34 before my currently A54....what I can dont regret the only good with A34 is battery life otherwise tge rest is average ....I wasnt impressed with it tbh
@@Mosestylez it's not that bad anymore. They just needed to optimize the phone and they did that with software updates. The battery life still isn't excellent, but it'll get you through the day.
@@Mosestylez this is just my opinion and not a fact, but I think them creating the A35 which is essentially the same phone as the A54 specs wise made the A54 a better phone. It forced them to optimize their Exynos 1380 chipset and now their mid-range phones with the Exynos 1380 chipset are all solid phones performance wise and battery life wise. They aren't as good we the A55 and the 1480 chipset, but the Exynos 1380 is actually pretty good now compared to when I first bought the phone.
@@afanasibushmanov7463 Thank you for the reply! It's honestly good to hear that it have improved after the updates. However I'm still worried since some people get like 3 hours SoT. Someone even managed to get 2.5 hours SoT, with a 5100Mah battery! It's either between this phone or Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G. But Samsung is more of an allround phone that's why I want to buy it, its just the battery that worries me. I won't play any games etc, but if I can't get more than 7+ hours on this phone with light usage (WhatsApp, RU-vid, Messenger etc) then it's no use for me to buy it :(
I want to buy me that a55 i only have some cheap xiaomi phone rn that my mom bought me but i earn now a little bit own money and i want to buy me this a55 for 469 euro but i see here some comparison that the a54 is not soo different and I don't need to play heavy games i only watch films or series and video and chatting I'm not doing so much rn ( i played roblox before but i stopped this year) i only want an long Battery life and good photos what would you recommend me
Completely agree with this video. A55 is such a joy to use, no hiccups, great display and battery. But the camera! The saturation is too low that the pictures look dull and lifeless, this is especially apparent when people are the subject, more so in the front camera than rear. Like reds appear in a pale pastel tone, I already reached out to Samsung and gave feedback through Members app, may be if enough people complain, they can turn up the saturation by 20-30%. Thanks for bringing up this jarring issue, all the reviews I've seen just gloss over this issue and say it's natural, it's not natural to look pale and faded.
Am looking favorably to the A55 because the A54 I have and rma'd it 2 times and still have screen touch issues. Have you noticed any erratic behavior or repeated touches with the A55?
