Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultra Review - The MacBook Pro Competition! 

I feel like this will be my next laptop in a few years. I have everything Samsung, so this laptop would be amazing for my workflow from phone to tablet to laptop (and tv).

Just picked this up the Ultra yesterday. I was nervous about the pricetag but I'm so happy I bit the bullet. Build quality is outstanding, crazy speed, and fits perfectly with my S23 Ultra and Tab S8 Ultra. Testing out Diablo 4 and Elden Ring on it later.

Small mistake I said the HDMI port is 2.1 but it's actually 2.0. Also, what do you guys think of the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra? Definitely overpriced here in Canada but if you're in the states it's not too bad. If you enjoyed the video feel free to subscribe and hit the like button!

Im fully in the samsung ecosystem with galaxy s23 ultra and tablets and 3 tvs. I recently returned this laptop due to the trackpad causing chaos. Would lock up or go on a wild rampage, opening apps, erasing lines of written text while on docs

For the price, i expected better build quality like the hinge and on a 16inch device without any DIMM slots is a huge deal breaker.

I really don't understand why Canada is getting shafted with just a i7/4050/16 gig ram. It has one massive issue. They targeted the MacBook, and they forgot it was a Windows laptop. No Windows Hello, no IR camera, no Touch Screen, and if you are a top end Windows laptop, there is no excuse for no touchscreen. Add in hdmi 2.0, and only 16 gig ram, this is a total miss by Samsung. That Enter key is a deal breaker too lol. Guess that is more than one issue lol Good review though. interseted in the build quality of this compared to a Lenova Slim 9i because think that is a better deal if it doesn't feel like plastic junk. Some of these metal laptops still feel oddly cheap, something MS Surface's have nailed better.

It is an amazing laptop (based on seeing it at a retail shop) but not good value for money. It's so pricey that I had no intention of buying while I was checking the laptop.

I got one of these bcuz I wanted to get into pc gaming, mine is the 4070 with 32gb of ram, I absolutely love it. Tbh I'm amazed at how high I can turn up the graphics on games and still get rock solid frame rates, like games look steps above my ps5 while running better. I will say, there are some things I'd like them to fix or more options I'd like them to add to future models or even later to this model, like having a rtx 4090 or even 4080 version available, it would be nice to know I could get the most powerful gpu and vram combo. Have a 2tb options, maybe 64gb of ddr6 ram instead of 32gv of ddr5, better cooling, louder speakers, and a bump up to around 18 inch screen at 4k resolution to pair with that 4090. Don't get me wrong the screen Is amazing and the 4070 is insanely good, but I feel those bumps in specs would have left it feeling more future proofed than it is, it also gets burning hot when I play any hard-core games, but so far I've had a really good time on hogwarts legacy

I’m not the biggest Apple fan out there, but I gotta say, as a foreigner, that I love the fact that Apple (US) gives customers the option to choose from a decent pool of different keyboard languages when you’re configuring your machine. This is amazing, and other companies, like Samsung, should copy that.

You crack me up, I never noticed my stickers were crooked either. I probably laughed for a good solid two minutes. Anyway serious question how do I check the internal temperature of the cpu? I can check the gpu temperature which is running steady between 40 degrees Celsius and 45 degrees Celsius. Yet I've read that the cpu on this model runs around 85 Celsius plus? I know there are some external programs you can download to check the cpu temperature. If you have any tips on how to easily check the cpu temperature on this model without downloading a separate app please let me know.

I wanna live in the crazy alternate universe where apple computers have RTX4070 in them and they can run DX12 games.

I wonder if the Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultra has Dolby Atmos Settings. Having a MBP 16 and comparing it to my latest windows machine I realised these might not be set up out of the box and able to perform well with their unoptimized default settings. They could do better.

Great review! I personally don't like the bezel and the keyboard. For this price tag it should be way smaller. I am not getting this laptop.

I've had two of these Ultras and the fan noise is atrocious.. insanely high pitched.. Weird that no reviewer has indicated this noticeable high frequency pitch from the fans.

Remove the numpad from keyboard and gain some spaces, place the speakers in this place. This way you can have more space for cooling or battery. Also one thing I don't understand is why 13700H is preferred if it will not be used at full performance. Could it be more sense to use a P-series Intel or U-series AMD processor, so the price could even be reduced a bit and battery would be more efficient. I'm upset because it's very close to being a very good laptop. The design and screen are really nice.

Thanks for your review. Ties in with my thoughts. A reasonable first shot to compete against premium thin and light, but maybe some wrong turns and the Ultra #2 may be worth waiting for. My suggestions would include a larger battery, cheaper price, unity across regions for spec (no 32GB version in UK), kill the numpad, better speakers, full-size SD card reader, a miniLED version, face unlock, s-pen support (it is the ultra), higher max brightness, less reflective display, and HDMI 2.1.

Have they lost their minds? What’s up with this Canadian pricing? Direct conversion from cad to usd is $2417 a price jump of 34% not to mention the forced bilingual keyboard and not selling the 4070 here either ??? Hopefully this product sells zero units in Canada to make those suits regret making such poor decisions.

Battery Life, Stickers, Sharp Edges, Dim Display, Speakers, Build Quality.... Return policy. Service Policy. Macbook Pro > Galaxy Book by huge margin. But if your little boy who likes gaming then party on with the Galaxy.

Sir If i may I have to point out somethings about your video editing You missed color grading on one 2-3 second clip, and the audio sample you provided, are not loud enough to me to judge the quality. Moving on.

The Ultra is yesteryear's "Pro". Samsung's Pro labelled laptops used to come with dedicated graphics. Until the Galaxy Book lineup appeared. I've waited out every convertible since the shift because mine had a GPU while the new ones didn't. I know they were no RTX 4050 - but relative to the time and context, the mobile Radeon 540 wasn't far off.

The SGBook3 Ultra looks like a Chrome Book to me. xD

How is the battery? Heard from other reviews it is not even decent 😅

This laptop would be perfect if the speakers were place near the keyboard and not on the bottom

Sir i and graphically challenged channel just hate matt finish, it just ruins display quality. All Companies just start using glossy in each screen. At least provide 2 options like matt and glossy on all screens of all their products.

The title said "The MacBook Pro Competition", but you didn't include any benchmark comparing it with any MacBook Pro 14"/16"... What gives?

I am a full time video editor with my workflow being handling 4k footages on Premiere / Resolve and After Effects (for some vfx work and motion graaphics), I have all the Samsung devices (Watch, phone, buds, tab). Is this laptiop good for my work? Or shall I consider different laptops.

I don’t get the mixing of Mac price with this laptop as really it’s all about software and hardware. It’s not like they are interchangeable if you need Windows specifically or want to do some gaming. If you want just a basic office type laptop, sure. That’s different. But that’s not what this is with the dedicated graphics card.

Always love your thorough reviews. A question though. I am considering between the 16" Pro, Pro 360 or Ultra. Another reviewer said the Book3 Pro does not offer 5G. Do you know, does the Book3 Pro 360 offer 5G? How about the Book3 Ultra? I did notice elsewhere brief reference to a 5G option sub 6Ghz with the Pro 360, but on the Samsung and Bestbuy websites I do not see reference anywhere to being able to choose that option, so do you know how I get it, and do you can you explain that sub 6Ghz part, what those implications are? Also, apparently the Book 3 Pro and Pro 360 use the early gen 13 i series P chip while only the Ultra uses the newest i series H chip. Do you know what impact this has? I don't really need all the power of the Ultra, for instance I do not do gaming or photo/video/audio editing work, just general online productivity and youtube videos long hours days and night 7 days a week, but I am willing to spend the money if there are some relevant advantages for heavy online streaming and chrome use. Thanks

I don't understand why new laptop come with micro sd readers while we don't use these anywhere: smartphones don't have micro sd cards readers no more and cameras use the bigger sd cards. I don't see any utility in it.

Keyboard should have been tkl so they could have made better speakers on the left and right of it. Especially since that numpad looks squished. Either give us a good size numpad like Lenovo or stick to tkl. Also agree that it should have that full size SD card slot.

I think that 1799 price is with trade-in. Without trade-in, it is 2399 for the 4050 and 2999 for the 4070

Sir I have seen galaxy book 3 ultra 4070 in ben g kaiser channel. It is faster than m2 pro in video all type of editing even on battery, unplugged.

They should have used QLED displays. OLED will burn in and have dead pixel issue.

great laptop, terrible pricing. asus sells amd ryzen 7 laptops with 3050s (sure its not a 4050 but its a 50 card, are you really gaming with it), 1tb, 16", 16gb ram at €1200. making the cpu come from a competitor, and the gpu one generation higher does not add another €1000 to the price

Is there hope of you getting to look at the 4070 model from the US? That is the laptop that really catches my attention for checking the fine balance between professional work and gaming. While pricey, Samsung is notorious for its aggressive sales. It wouldn't surprise me to see the 4070 model see $1100 off (they love going for 40%+ on their top models)

Bilingual keyboards is the reason why I will never buy a laptop in Canada. It just clutters the whole thing and makes it look really cheap. I actually go out of my way to order them from the US instead!

Macbook pro sounds fuller than Samsung Book3 Ultra. Neverthless, I like the flexibility of this Windows laptop. The display is spectacular. Having a dedicated GPU has enabled decent gaming in such a slim and portable laptop.

the g16 seems to be an interesting competitor, both being the more minimal/portable type of laptops maybe with the slight price bump to get the better 100%dci-p3 qhd screen on the g16 for a more fair comparison

Nice Laptop but unless you're absolutely tied to the Windows ecosystem Apple MacBook Pro is still King 👑 better battery life, touchpad, sound, keyboard and runs quieter and cooler.

Great point on the bilingual keyword, and big no to backward, stereotypical thinking. Somebody in Samsung HQ must've looked up "official languages in Canada" and told the whiteboard session "they speak two languages! The percentage of the francophone population or their distribution in the country don't at all matter. What we have to do is to do a bilingual keyboard for the Canadian market because Google counts the official languages as two." I can vividly imagine the overwhelming sense of pride that must've swept the entire headquarters afterward.
