+How2Tech the staws I tried where too thick when it wrapped around the pen so I cut it to the size of the side of the pen and it worked. Thanks for the video.

+Bart Schuck I tried a straw and the one I had was too think to go down the s-pen silo. something more rigid will work better but it has to be super thin.

+How2Tech Thanks. It was more of my just "thinking out loud" than my making a suggestion. I know that straws are made in various thicknesses. For example a 7-11 Slurp straw is probably thicker than a McDonalds straw. But I want to thank you for the reply -- I didn't really expect it. So far, I'm still undecided about a new phone. I've had the Note2 and Note3. Skipped the Note4 "just because" and hoped the Note5 would have "killer specs." Personally, I see the Note5 as a downgrade because of smaller battery than even my Note3, non-removeable battery, and non-expandable memory. So this problem hasn't come up for me personally, but I keep myself informed because, even at age 64, I am the "go to" person in my circle of friends regarding tech assistance -- everything from teen to 70+

Age is a number love for tech is forever hahah. I was surprised the straw I tried didn't work super cheap flexi straw but there is a video of a guy using a straw seems pretty easy. I have been suing the note 5 as my daily phone and it actually has good battery life surprisingly. It has atleast as good of battery life and my note 4 probably a little better since I use it more. I had the note 3 also and I have to say I like the 5 but that may change with time.

Maybe they do it unintentionally, In the dark or they let the kids borrow the phone

+Codkilla909 I was putting my pen back in while in the dark this morning, nearly dropped the pen, slid it in, oops. Tried this trick. it worked to get the pen out, but I must have damaged the mechanism. Never thought I'd do this! It happens way to easily!

Hahaha considering how much force (and many RU-vidrs have shown this) it takes to actually bend the iPhone, Everything, even aluminum unibody has a stress limit until it breaks. Your logic is flawed. The pen can get stuck with minimal thought or effort. Now that it's gained more attention, I'm sure Note owners will be more diligent, but that's something Samsung should have accounted for. Sounds like your experiences with your phone usage varies...sounds like you have no one to share the phone with. Bummer.

+Degus Jacoby Pradana Actually I have. I had the first Note. Friend of mine had the Note 2. All of those versions PHYSICALLY did not allow for this to happen. The problem lies in the clicky part of the new pen to keep it flush with the metal frame. Your logic with the iPhone 6 is flawed because it takes quite a good amount of force to bend the unibody. It's something you have to do ON PURPOSE. The Note 5 S-Pen requires no force whatsoever, Leo Laporte did it LIVE on his RU-vid Podcast, he even had no idea it was that easy to get it stuck. Like I said before, it's not as big of a deal as #spengate would lead everyone to believe. I also said before (if you can read) that it's not catastrophic. It's not like your phone will suddenly stop working completely because of the broken sensor. Luckily the OP of this video found a workaround so you can fix it yourself. The fact that it's that easy to fuck up the S-Pen and needs a RU-vid tutorial to unfuck it, because the Samsung's official stance is "read the manual", it's poor design through and through. We can dance around "what if" or "well just tell everyone" or "asswong" but the fact is, it's a design flaw. I'm sure the rest of the phone is great, battery life sounds good, but the S-Pen is a design flaw on this FIFTH generation Note. Edit: I should even note that some carrier Note 5s like AT&T, only come with a Quick Start Guide. Some don't even give you the actual user manual.

+martinshoosterman You can also stick beans up your nose, and I recommend you don't do that either. (Now I bet you're waiting for the vid on how to remove stuck beans from your nose :-P )

+ramin rabet The finger sensor is not actually a sensor just a piece of rubber that holds the pen in. You tug on the pen it will freely pass that one and since it is not a sensor will not damage anything. There is a backing on the midframe that holds it in place to make sure it makes contact with the pen fully.

Unfortunately, the clicker still gets caught unless the sides of the clicking mechanism are COMPLETELY shaved off. We did exactly that in a video.
