Thanks! Phone battery was draining until the internal battery controller cutting off voltage because of the short circuit. After removing the capacitor, the phone works fine!
Thanks. I had water damage to my I9100 (S2). Replaced the usb charger module, did'nt work. I took off capacitor like you showed and new life for the old boy. My water damage was from condensation (sauna). Phone worked for next day but suddenly shut off/brick. I thought it was the bigger chips on the main SOC board, glad it was just capacitor. Anybody know if I loose some kind of protection with cap removed?
I have a s2 that was kept for 6 months, after my father-in-law enrolled him in swimming at sea. lol. I decided to search again for the upload problem and found your video. Thank you for the tip. Today I have s2, s5 qnd s8+ parking. S2 for GPS tracking Project, s5 for retrogaming.
hi my name is gerson from Namibia.what can be the probleem if samsung gt- i9100 not switching on and not even charcing .and become hoot when i try to charge or insit the battery.?
Tried this, didn't work, considered changing the usb charger module but the phone gets warm near the camera when plugged in which suggests the power is getting through.
Bought a heavily damaged and smashed screen but working of the same phone off ebay as no matter the problem I'll have a duplicate of it to try. Just swapping the motherboard fixed the problem, no idea why, broken one doesn't show as shorting from the battery contacts, maybe if you went around continuity testing the board you'd eventually find the problem but to repair is beyond my skill set and cost. In USD it cost me around $17 to buy the phone for spares, which is about what it would've cost me to order a motherboard from somewhere like ali baba anyway. But now in a very good condition working phone again it's worth like $45. I don't get my data back but I get a good condition working version of the phone back relatively cheaply so I'm somewhat satisfied with the outcome.
+FluffyFooFookins thanks a lot man i'll do the same and hopefully it will work ! i have no idea if it's possible to extract my files from that dead phone if i replace the motherboard but anyway i missed the starting samsung logo Lol , thanks again friend
I opened my unit and i realized thats is a different model. Its the GT - I9100G and yours is the GT -I9100. My problem now is which of these capacitors should be removed because the arrangement is different from your video.
This capacitor is for the OTG functions, if you remove it you will not have OTG anymore, you can fix it by replacing it. Other ways the phone will still works even without it.
