In some cases the Scene optimizer is an overkill BUT in certain situation it can actually help with the dynamic range and other things because the AI detects what are you trying to capture and it will tweak the camera slightly for better picture. Best way to see that is if you try to capture Moon with the zoom lens. Without the Scene optimizer the moon will be not as nice looking. :)

@@RoiTrigerman This was disproven in few articles. Search on Google "Galaxy s21 Ultra fake moon" and read up. The AI is just taking multiple shots and stacks them together for better sharpness and clarity. I took a really decent photo with a tripod and S21 Ultra last night. So yeah Scene Optimizer is an AI and AI is going to be HUGE thing in future photography especially in phones.

@@soorajj9207 that's why it's half the price. Mid range specs are acceptable at $699. It's really comparing apples to oranges. Pixel 5 holds its own against giants that cost twice as much. That's a winner no matter how you slice it.

Well, the regular S21 performs almost as good as the S21 Ultra in most scenarios and it still beats the pixel in zoom. It costs 799$ and you can also find it for 699$.

Even though they are clearly not "the best" pictures, I do still mostly prefer the Google Pixel 5 shots. No matter what your preference is though, when looking at prices alone, after this camera comparison, Apple and Samsung should be forced to adjust them. 😀

After watching a lot of camera reviews and comparisons I've understood that at the flagship level computational photography there is no clear winner. Sometimes these devices get it right sometimes they don't and it just depends on what you like.

But then S21U will also use it's pro mode as both Astro mode and pro mode requires tripod for long exposure. Astro mode also takes a really long time, upwards to 2 mins sometimes depending on the light.

@@AnuragSingh-mb2xl you don't have to buy the Ultra. S21 has the same price as the Pixel 5 and is still superior. It has 3X zoom, Snapdragon 888, 120Hz display, and still a bigger main 12MP camera sensor that is just as good.

If samsung uses scene optimizer as default and you don't like it you can turn that off.For a proper camera comparison use their pro mode and other camera features not just auto mode because at this point flagship smartphones has great cameras and the difference is indistinguishable most of the time.

I recently purchased the S21 (not the Ultra) to replace my Pixel 4. After 2 weeks of being completely disappointed with the S21 performance, I purchased the Pixel 5 and I'm delighted. What I found was that the S21 can't deal with moving subjects. I have young kids and 8/10 photos from the S21 had motion blur or were just out of focus. Whereas the Pixel almost always creates a great image when there is poor lighting and lots of motion. It would be great if future testing including motion, as this is critical for parents to know. Great comparison otherwise!

The fact that you can get the Pixel's camera experience on the 4a which costs as little as £299 when it goes on sale is insane. The 4a5g is also on sale for £399 atm which gives you an amazing experience as good as iPhone and samsung (with the exception of zoom and video which aren't important to some people) for less than half the price!

To be honest, I can care less about the brand winning, but the S21 is a slam dunk! For me, the color and contrast processing is superb, because I usually go to change the photos in that style. Having flat looking images isn't my style (I guess not the style of many other looking at Marquez' research).

Are you talking about samsung's scene optimizer? Because that is easily turned off. Idk about the pixel but the iphone has filters you can apply which are all a little extreme so I never use them.

I have always been an iPhone man but I enjoy these videos in order to learn a little technical specifications and just a factor enjoyable with the different photos and lighting in other ways to use your phone. I have the S 21 ultra on order and should have it in about 48 hours and I’m truly looking forward to experimenting and having fun. I was having this debate just a week ago. My OG Pixel XL finally gave out (motherboard). The Samsung phones have been on sale at Best Buy, putting the Ultra at $999. I was tempted to make a switch even though I'm not huge on One UI. It was Dave 2D doing a deep analysis about how disappointing the Ultra's video quality is that kept me in the Pixel camp. An iPhone will always win on video, but Google's video improvements to the Pixels have been notable. And the pictures and performance are great. I can barely realize I'm using a 700-series chip, and "pure" Android 11 is silky and great. Also, the battery seriously lasts for two days. It's nuts. Yay Pixel 5.

you compare the zoom capabilities of all three despite the pixel 5 lacking one, yet you do not mention that the pixel 5 is miles ahead in low light thanks to its astrophotography feature.

Zoom quaility and night mode Samsung is clear winner - everything else is mostly close with Pixel 5 murdering the S21 due to many lighting scenarios that make the S21 lean to heavily on its digital sharpeningtechnology. At times the "live' processing of the scene seems to be too much for the S21 to handle without the image sputtering (especially) in slow motion and with fluid movement like waves and leaves in the wind. Samsung overall is probably the better camera for extreme capability, but the Pixel is way more realistic and detailed in low light, portrait mode, and regular "everday" image capturing. Samsung should be embarrassed that a phone 1/2 the price takes it to task so thoroughly. And, with BASIC photo editting software, the pixel images can be enhanced to be every bit as good, with minimal effort. Samsung = winner, but the pixel 5 is punching miles above its weight class. This was never about the iPhone for us, as we've left the cult long ago and have not looked back. Life without itunes is a better life.

I am waiting for a camera comparison between the more budget versions of those smartphone models, that consumers actually view as alternatives to each other, though. Imho, noone who considers buying the Pixel 5 will look at a phone with the price of 1000+ bucks. I would rather like to see a camera comparison between Pixel 5, the regular iPhone 12 and the 'normal' S21 - with special focus on a comparison between Google's digital zoom on the Pixel 5 vs Samsung's hybrid (also not optical) zoom on the S21. The Google Pixel 5 won this (again). I wasn't surprised with that. iPhone is all over the place and Samsung is doing what Samsung does best..blows out the colors and makes everything look cartoonish (and downright not that great). Makes me an even happier Pixel 5 user. :)

How does ProRAW photos compare to Samsung s21 ultra (scene optimiser)? I thought with ProRAW it gives more detail once you start using an editing application? I ask because I’m looking at upgrading, I have always been a Galaxy owner (except s20), but I’m thinking about going to Apple for a change especially having seen some ProRAW shots (after editing).

That's The reason I don't like Galaxy S21 ultra✅✅✅ They can't beat previous series phone.. such as rog phone 3,mi 11,12 pro max, one plus 8T and so many midrange phone 👎👎👎 Before 6 month I was waiting for S21 ultra bt after the release and I'm watching so many performance, battery, speed, camera, and everything. Damn, I was thinking of moving to the Pixel 6 when it comes out but Samsung might still have the lead. An iPhone would be great to go with my mac, but every time I use one I'm just frustrated with the fact it doesn't get all the simple things right that Samsung has mastered. Maybe it's just user preference and familiarity though? Except my wife has had an iPhone for 3 years and can't wait to move back to an android.

is it on by default? if it is, then its not really their fault. its samsung's fault for enabling it by default as thats what most people will use

Other power creator may even want to put gcam on exynos thus making this vid, or the one with scene optimizer off useless as well For this vids terms, it's "using everything on stock". But he does show on some photos how samsung looks without scene optimizer

@@ezkailez4841 Otherwise Dolby Vision is enabled by default on iPhones, but all Western testers as luck know that it has to be turned off 🤦🏽‍♂️. And as the other says we must stop trying to make it seem that those who come on RU-vid to follow this kind of tests are ordinary consumers, it's just dishonest.

Watched the video without sound for no bias and I think Pixel 5 is showing its age altough some pictures are pretty good. Iphone 12 is probably the best allround but S21 also very strong.

Really wish tech reviewers would focus on the type of photos that people take every day. Sure it is good to know that my Bowie LP will look good should I wish to photograph it in the dark but what I mostly care about are photos of my family (people and pets).

Well, I think that's the thing. All of these cameras in the flagships are going to take great pictures of your family and pets in most situations where you want to take pictures of them. At this point, we have to pixel peep and pour over the finer details of different scenes to declare a "winner". In the end, 98% of the time the average consumer isn't going to notice a difference in any of these cameras quality-wise.

"Samsung has taken the win in almost every category." Say what?!?!? I watched the video a few times and you seem to announce pretty clear wins to the Pixel in the categories of Daylight, Detail, and Portrait. 3 others go to Samsung (HDR, Low-light, Zoom) and you didn't seem to state a clear winner in (Ultrawide). Color me confused.

I hope so, just heard about the camera issues of the exynos and if This is the exynos in the Video, i'm fine with it. Some british youtubers also had the snapdragon version to test, therefore i wasnt Sure :D

I've always disliked how over-saturated the Samsung photos look. Would have like to see more of the pictures with that "scene optimizer" turned off (assuming that's possible in all cases).

Yea it is possible in all, just click a button in the camera app and it turns off permanently til u turn it on again
