Update: Thanks to @BOULAKHRAS RADHWANE who just poitned out today (27th Jan 2023) that PUBG on the Exynos has FINALLY been updated to support 60FPS under Smooth/Extreme graphics. You can also run at 40FPS on HDR graphics. No frame drops at all.
It s so sad that so many games are only optimized for snapdragon, leaving behind both exynos and dimensity. We need competition between different cpu but devs don t seem to care much about it
I agree, it is sad. It'd be like if only Nvidia were supported on PC - there'd soon be an outcry from the AMD users (although there's always been a battle between the two of them anyway). I hope as the mobile gaming market matures that developers will make more effort - maybe the tools they use require further development to make optimisation easier?
Exynos and Mediatek does have performance issue due to lack of optimization. With Exynos I would assume its because Exynos is exclusive to Samsung, and most phones for most brands generally use Snapdragon, and on top of that Snapdragon being open source making it easier to optimize for most developers. As for Mediatek, they chose to have Closed Source code for their chipset, and I heard its a pain to optimize Mediatek chipset because of this.
-andreno gpu is open source -samsung manufacturing procces is worst than TSMC ( 8gen 1 vs 8+gen 1 by TSMC case) exynos is no for me , it use mali close source gpu and manufactured by samsung on top of that 😅 , mediatek dimensty with TSMC still better choice than exy ,but snapdragon x TSMC is the most correct way!
The reason CPU usage is higher (and performance lower) on the 2200 is the Xclipse GPU doesn't have any OpenGL drivers, so it has to run any OpenGL games through the Angle translation layer, which transposes the API calls to Vulkan. Unfortunately very few mobile developers use Vulkan (despite it being out for almost 7 years now) and are still using OpenGL. Supposedly on apps with a native Vulkan implementation (e.g. emulators where you can change the graphics API) the 2200 is the superior GPU by a bit. Still that doesn't change that in practice it's the worse choice for gaming.
Also switching to Vulkan isn't as easy, as some might think. Vulkan is a low level API and thus you have much more control about the hardware, but at the same time you're vulnerable to mistakes, which can lead to worse performance compared to OpenGL. Vulkan support was also pretty bad on Android until Google finally sorted it out couple of years ago. At least we can say that future, more demanding games will probably adapt Vulkan, so the E2200 is more or less future proof :)
In Thailand, Samsung had always sold us Exynos version of their flagships. Imagine how frustation we were with their chips, especially in a hot timid country. Last year, S22 series in Thailand for the first time, comes with Snapdragon and they're one of the best selling Samsung phones in Thailand. Everyone just loves them.
In hotter countries you definitely want a cooler running chip that's for sure 👍 I do miss Thailand, I was there last Feb and although it was extremely hot (for me) it was a great holiday 😊
PUBG mobile was a shocker on the Exynos S22U, the game has more options available for both graphics and framerate on my S21U with Exynos 2100. This lack of Exynos optimisation is why I will only upgrade my S21U to S23U if the SoC in the UK this time is the Snapdragon.
It's crazy isn't it? I was expecting them to update within a month or two but 10 months later and 30FPS is still the max! And like you say - even the S20/S21 can do better than that!
Great test! For gaming, I personally use Geforce Now which bypasses the phone GPU and allows for 120FPS 4K in Genshin Impact, while barely draining the battery. I believe that in a few years, phone GPUs will be less and less relevant, thanks to cloud gaming.
Thanks a lot! Cloud gaming is definitely the future I agree - especially for running games on a potato but with the quality of a decent GPU in the cloud 👍
Thanks for watching! The FPS etc is done by "GPU Watch" you can enable it in the Developer Options. System temp is an app called Thermal Monitor in the Play Store
Low quality mode on my s20 ultra exynos 990 Give me about 55 to 60 fps Maybe these chipset need more optimization cuz their supposedly superior to old gens phones but this performance is not worth the money they ask. Either way thank you for this comparison. Really appreciate it
@@AndroidAddicts thank you once again for your hard work and yes brother I just don't understand both of em are supposed to run 90fps but running at 40 to 50. Idk if it's optimization issues or throttling
@@AndroidAddicts and even then if you use it right now. It's performing good in fortnite compared to 2200. I have no clue what the hell is going on with these new phones
Does the eyxnos version finally have ultra frame rate? The Snapdragon 870 can do ultra so the Exynos despite it flaws is still superior so im hoping the answer is yes. I'm switching to this phone soon
@@AndroidAddicts damn, the old Poco phones can do ultra that's annoying ;-; guess I'll have to stick to high. Actually looked forward to the 90hz as my current phone can't even do low settings.
Yeah it's frustrating - It's down to the devs really to sort out support for the different chipsets - the 2200 could easily handle Ultra settings without a sweat...
I see that Exynos 2200 could done more better than SD in most games, but developers don't optimize their games properly for vulkan, only for Open GL were Exynos 2200 GPU can't compete Becuase doesn't have it. Apart from developers preference to optimize first for Qualcomm SoCs before Exynos, Mediatek, kirin and tensor. We need more competition and developers that care about other SoCs apart from Qualcomm, games like fornite or normal PUBG were to worst optimized, and developers should be ashamed beucase they did nothing in the last months to solve it.
For genshin impact part I would say is not directly comparable as the E2200 in the begin was in the city which is a much heavier place than where the 8G1was, but then you entered a domain in the exynos, which is much easier than what the Snapdragon was doing and even like that it got lower fps
Yeah I don't like testing that game as it's always hard to get a similar output. I guess next time I could just go to the same domain and try and run through it 👍
always when you change the FPS of the game restart the game for the FPS it stays in the amount of FPS that you put because that is a bug of the games configures the whole game and restarts the game then the game runs with the best performance a hug from Brazil Feedback Resultados da Web
Neither phone got too hot but it is winter here. Generally, in most of my tests, the Snapdragon has been the warmer chipset. Thanks for watching!
@@AndroidAddicts your welcome I have 30 fps smooth for 5 days even I downloaded all graphic test and pubg push update on play store I do the update after that unlocked hdr 40 fps and smooth 60 fps
40:05 on my galaxy A33, the exynos 1280 runs real racing 3 bordering between 85 and 90 fps. If the exynos 2200 which is far superior to the exynos 1280 cannot run this game fluidly, it means that the fault lies with the developers who do not optimize their games for the chips
Its so unfair for europen users of the s22 ultra. We pay our device much higher(1500e) than they don t care about games optimization at all. I am not playing games and i am happy with my s22 ultra, other things works perfectly fine but if you can t ofer me same phone than give me this phone for less money... 1 year later they still don t care. But we are lucky other things work fine and some even better... sorry for bad english
Starting with the S23 range, Exynos is no more so I guess they've listened to all the feedback and decided to just stick with one chipset now - it makes sense.
Exynos 2200 is not only inferior in terms of performance but also optimizarion since its GPU is unique so not all game devlopers will optimize for it In the end, if Samsung doesn'rt come up with a processor with a competitive CPU and much faster GPU , it's not worth for they to even release it, as it's not only about performance
You mean for gaming right? In other regards, Exynos 2200 is one of the best, if not the best CPU of its generation. For example, it is way better optimized than Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 as Exynos 2200 has access to the AV1 video codec which vastly reduces the energy consumption when watching Netflix or YT videos. That's why Exynos 2200 battery time is usually measure at about +90 min vs a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 S22 Ultra.
@@Innovate-pq9ci this genertion also include dimensity9000, 8G1+, A16 so no, it is the worse; It's debatable if it's any worse than 8G1, both are really close but the ISP and reputation makes me lean towards the 8G1 being a bit better
@@androidoneiu5206 well then Mali is also superior to Adreno becausa it scores higher in vulkan benchmarks Kinda a dumb logic, if most games are not in this API what is the point of prioritizing it? In the end, E2200 gpu has a similar efficiency to th 8G1 but a lower max tdp, which mean it will never reach this Adreno performance
@@waldemir5621 The TDP can be higher if Samsung allow it Developers can addapt the game to vulkan only in Exynos 2200 devices, and performance will be greatly improved.
