Very informative video! Just one thing to point out, you’d never have to have fundamental issues like this tested when new apple, huawei or xiaomi devices are launched. No idea why samsung cannot optimise their devices!?!? The exynos 990 made me actually jump ship to apple due to the bad battery life and heating (not overheating) problems

Hello Saki great video as always, has anyone notices s22 ultra sound it's not as loud as other phones or previous versions? I've also notices if you turn Dolby Atmos ON sound drops, if you turn Dolby OFF sound comes alive and sounds a bit louder. On another note no pun intended 😄🤣😂 the life of the battery could be better without having to sacrifice turning a few things off.

That because this test only testing one of about 30 different readings this phone takes on various hardware components, He failed to mention which one is tested too which is very unhelpful in my opinion. My guess is it's battery temperature or GPU temperature but that's certainly isn't an OVERALL evaluation of the the phones health temperature wise

Been samsung user since s2 and was waiting for s22 to replace my s10, but due to battery dying less than in a day I had to switch to Apple. The iPhone 13 pro battery is way better and do not overheat. I remember with my S10 I could’t use my GPS in summer due to overheat issue. I hope they fix overheat and battery issues in s23 line-up. The iPhone in other end have negative aspects as well, I do not like the screen colors, they are not as vivid as on samsung.

when i preorder my S21 ultra, on my first week I noticed was running very hot and overheating...returned the phone (was on the 15 days period) and ordered another one. same thing. even today, depending on what I do, it gets hot around the camera area. seems to be Samsung cheaping on the cooler solution. I even noticed, on some teardowns, they dont use anymore the copper heatpipe and instead they use a graphite film or something like that.

That camera area heating was a common hardware problem on some snapdragon models, affects camera performance apparently

If it feels cool to the touch it probably won't br an issue under everyday use and not super-intensive 3d gaming or number crunching. Video playback thankfully is not intense. The video is a great PSA of sorts. Not phones should be okay but even in the best manufacturing conditions some individual units can still fail. I wouldn't bench test every day, maybe if something felt unusually warm then I'd probably do the baseline test to get quicker results if not find an app that shows real-time temperature and speed information.

It depends on the carrier, color and storage options. The only phone that was readily available through AT&T was the black 512 gb version, so that's what I went with. All other colors and storage options were either late March or April.

I ran the test a few times on the s22 ultra snapdragon. Best loop score I achieved was 2067. I saw you achieved over 2500. Why is mine so much lower ?

silicon lottery. not all the snapdragon chips are similar. this should be the idea for all GPUS and any CPU.

Well I did both tests on my Exynos version..First one ok..Second one just came up blank..Absolutely nothing in the Performance monitoring box and nothing in the Battery and Frame Rate box..Blank boxes both of them...! I don't know whether that's good or bad..My CPU monitor said it was 44 deg C...So I suppose that's OK..

I got a score of 88 on the "Your score v this model" on the 1 minute test. I and the temp range was slightly lower than your phones. I have the 512GB version, so I am assuming that having the 12GB RAM and the 512GB storage helps it's performance and keeps it cooler. The 20 minute test is running now. Once it is finished, I will report the numbers.

It depends I think. Mine when I was setting it up was heating up because I was transferring 20GB+ of data via cable but afterwards when I let it cool down to set up the device it went down. It could also be other things like having the 120hz display on or a case, but the first thing you should do is go into your device care settings and test out the battery health

ambient temp 23 degrees s22 ultra 12/512 exynos (ram boost +6 gb in case sb asks) case spigen tough armour following results (phone packed with games and apps (before the tests i restarted the phone) processing speed maximum: wildlife extreme (1min) 1830 overall score avg fps 11 battery 55->54% temp 34 degrees --> 37 degrees fps fluctuating between 6 to 14 fps wildlife extreme stress test best loop score 1651 lowest loop score 1081 stabiliti 65.5% it doesnt show me any data regarding fps and temps but i checked it manually the temp shifted from 34 degrees to 44 degrees looks like there is a lot of optimization to be done with the exynos models ... i hope thye will fix this soon since the performance atm is just average in comparison to snapdragon

It shouldn't really go much higher than 50c at the absolute max, it will thermal throttle itself before it allows any app to cause it to self destruct

This is cool havent done this before. I have the Exynos version here in the UK ... First test 27°C to 29°C Second test 31°C to 40°C 93% better than results from all other devices 83% better than scores from Samsung S22 decvices (Exynos 2200) **oh and its in a Spigen Tough Armour case

Looks like you got a good model do you have any battery issues with your phone, I think some exynos s22u might have dodgy chips, my first test said 52% better than other exynos then on the second it said 32% better wtf.

@@ArowzR Man thats crazy! I have no idea how it all works and I wouldn't have even thought of doing this without watching this video. It does sound like some people are having issues with the Exynos chip though. Why cant Samsung just make a standardised product for everyone?? Plus they know the constant global battle between the two chips so cant understand why they dont just pick one after some heavy testing and give it to ALL the phones globally so everyone has the same. Hope your S22 is all good and as long as its performing great and the temp isn't getting above the advised temps on this video I wouldn't pay too much attention to the % numbers 👍🏻

My results after baseline: 35c to 36c 9 to 18fps My device is better than 53% of other S22 Ultra SDM8Gen1 My device 72% better than all others to benchmark stress: Battery from 45 to 35% Temperature 36 to 41% Fps 6 to 16 Score went from 1982 to 1682 Cooling looks great. What is making some of the other S22 Ultras so much better... are they unlocking, rooting, and tweaking them?

Mine was about the same. Should I be worried? I only found this bc mine seems to be getting hot fairly fast when I open a game. Whereas my OP 9 pro doesn’t get as hot as fast. I just got mine yesterday…is too early to tell?

@@jd-kd3mm Way too early. Those first few days you get your phone it is running a lot of processes. ESPECIALLY if you used smart switch. If you open the battery setting it'll say something like learning your patterns or so. In a few days when that's gone you'll start getting the optimal battery life/cooling you want.

@@eduard6450 Nope. I checked as well. Did it for TikTok as well, which I uninstalled thinking it might be using a lot of bg resources. Uninstalling didn't help and it only got worse until I powered off my phone.

@@PlazDreamweaver could have been a bug. Anyway I would put apps in deep sleep mode so that they don't run in the background. You may also want to wipe cache partition if anything strange happens again

Thanks a lot, really helpful video!!!! My S22 Ultra got hot using 45W PD super fast charger. Contacted with Samsung tech, they tried to sell the care+ or offered a free fix without having any replacement. MIne temp after this test was 27-31d C and extreme was 30-41d C with case. THANK YOU...

On the 20 minute test, my phones numbers are: Battery: 97% to 87%; Temp: 30c to 40c; Frame rate: 7FPS to 19 FPS. Again, I have the 12GB Ram and 512GB storage.

Whenever I run the Wildlife Extreme Stress test - I get no range or monitoring data. I only get score on top, which is ~2100 for best loop (Exynos). Any ideas?

So a smartphone reaching over 45c battery is a defective unit ? Do you know everybody has a different ambient temp and that is the most important? Smartphones will overheat but still trottle themselves to be safe. Samsung wont replace a phone that reaches 50c battery

Let me ask this, my mom had bought a wireless charging station that she could put her galaxy buds, watch and s22 ultra on, she said her watch wasn't charging and was getting very hot(as were her s22 and buds pro) Is it normal for stuff to get really hot on wireless chargers vs wired cables?

My s22 ultra didn't even finish the 1min wildlife extreme test before it restarted itself .... It needs to cool down for a few mins before it can power back on. It's less than a year old, already had the battery replaced and it still powers off when it heats up. Thoughts on what might cause this?

@@Ticari-y3f Sorry for late response, and yeah... it's very very bad My s22 ultra is snapdragon version, however it's not the processor problem, if i play pubg like you, in a cool place (not a hot place) my phone temperature will never pass 42... 49 is actually dangerous and very bad for the phone, it should never go over 45 for a long time

I don't get the enthusiasm of people to preorder things and then later complain a lot. That's why it's better to buy a phone 5 to 6 months down the line. Most of the bugs are fixed. Mostly the following batch of production has all the hardware issues sorted out. Price has settled down. Preordering is like going on a blind date and the only reference you have is a heavily photoshopped image.

Question... my phone reaches 35C to 42C but the performance is only 3FPS to 17FPS with a score of only 1802 for Best loop score and Lowest score of 1103 and Stability of 61.2%..... It seems significantly slower than your values. Battery setting I used to set Maximum performance as you suggested. Any idea why the results are so much lower? I checked the processor is a snapdragon. Why can the performance be so different and what to check or do about it? Did I get a bad phone? Please advice! Thanks a lot

My 22 Ultra has been working perfectly since I got it and I feel like it's lagging now that I ran this test even though all my marks came in the range you said they should. I never ran a benchmark before can they damage your phone?

He literally said it won't damage the phone and it won't as these phones are designed for such loads. Also the lagging in the benchmark could be because 3d mark is graphically intensive. They make it that way so you can universally use it across devices without having to worry about optimizing it for specific devices. You are not playing the benchmark so don't care that it lags, your phone couldn't handle it if it wanted to. All you should care about is the temperature when it comes to this, as the games you play will be optimized for your phone.

If it is lagging because of the test it could be because it ran hot and the cpu throttled a little. Which still would be fine as the benchmark is intensive. That lag is what saves your battery and components.

Well, my s22 ultra didn't even finish the 1min non-extreme wildlife test before it restarted itself .... it would be like a volcano if I uses its factory camera and that was even after a full reset with no new app installed ...with powersave on, it constantly auto powerdown whenever i uses camera for 2min (no video). it had to cool down for a few mins before it allows me to boot up. I love my s22 ultra so I'm hoping Sammy will give me some answer.

I have a brand new S22 Ultra and it has NEVER overheated once. It has NEVER even gotten warm. I don't play games and maybe it would get warm if I played an intensive game or something. I have opened multiple windows and it has not gotten hot. On RU-vid there is a video of a reviewer playing a game while he is videoing a simulcast live, with a third window open and the phone did not overheat.

My s22 compact 128gb wild life extreme stress 20 mins test was 36 to 42 degrees celsius. Is this ok for the s22 5G 128gb?

My Snapdragon S22U 512GB with MaxBattery performance and on setting of 8GB RAM got 21c° to 41c° on Xtreme 20 min test. I guess im safe, however thats to say if I was suppose to use max brightness than I havent.

@@iiishception Yes it does... you can change your RAM usage to 4,6 or 8 depends on how well you want your device to run. Device is 12GB RAM but the Max u can change to is 8.

@@iiishception Settings > Battery/DeviceCare > Memory > RAM Plus (tap on it). You can change its usage to 2,6,4 or 8 RAM

@@Arayashi That's RAM+ which uses phone's storage as EXTRA MEMORY. Amount you select is amount of additional memory phone uses but you have to remember that RAM+ is nowhere near as fast as RAM.

im at work so i cant run the 2nd test... but for the 1st test i got a temp below the temps you said was normal range.... 26'-29'c range... is that ok? there are times my phone screen gets extremely hot where it can actually burn my skin.... so im super confused on this test and results
