Woke up with a hangover with a Samsung ultra 20 broken screen and my phone service called me about getting a new phone while i was still in bed so I ordered it. The screen got hit on that rounded edge that I don't like and the back glass for the camera broke. Good thing I bought a too expensive otter box piece of garbage that didn't do it's job. Watched a review and it irritates me that 23 has no micro SD card slot. Thanks for the tip bro I will have to order this here in Canada.
This is a nice backup option, but I definitely wouldn't call it a "work around" as it isn't a practical solution for increasing your phone storage. It really irritates me that Samsung got rid of their micro SD card slot.
Yeah because I really hate filling up my 1Tb of storage after a whole week on a vacation. NOT!.! Seriously? That they got rid of the expandable storage??!? Yeah. Been on vacation twice and two shows since buying my phone and haven't even passed 256gb of storage used. 200MP photo's falling out of my ass. Numerous 4K 60fps and 8K videos all day long. Cloud storage and or offloading the stuff you want to keep has always been an option. I guess the few extra minutes of making sure your data is safe on your own is just to much to ask these days.
Exactly!! And even I found out what the definite answer is for this!! So now I'm like why would the Samsung manufacture prevent of getting into the habit of building sd card slots for? 🤔😠 This is why I don't understand about this issue!! So do any of you know why Samsung stopped building SD card slots to put them inside of their phones like this? I don't understand. This is like one of the worst frustrating issues any of us would hate about as much as it gets us to a point whereas we get so disgruntled by this situation. This is why I'm like; why would Samsung stop adding SD card slots inside of their phones for? What's the whole reason of them excluding SD card slots for their phones nowadays? So can any ya'll tell me why did they do that for?😑 I'm so frustrated at this point of this situation. YOU HAVE NO IDEA!! I didn't expected for it to be this way for now on like; Damn that sucks for now on!!😑
This is why I've kept my S10+ for 4 years now. Still has 12GB memory, 1TB + 512GB micro sd storage. I record a lot of 4k 60fps video is why I need the space. Sporting events/etc. I just worry about card readers cheap ones dying on you and/or the transfer speed being so slow it's not worth it. And yes I am greatfull for the video. I just don't want to loose any of my files. : )
I had the Samsung s8plus cell phone it conveniently had a tray that fit the sim card and the sd card .Looked great after closing the tray. I thought the s23 ultra would have a tray that does the same if not maybe better. Unfortunately the s23 ultra just has a tray for the sim card. I added this SD card adapter. I'm not happy that it sticks out of, l the cell phone.
I dont umderstand why samsung is all of a sudden like"hey you know how all our phones have expandable storage and you can do anything with them?" Lets make them exactly like our competition so theres no upside to buying our product!!
Companies tend to be complete morons. Back in the day we used to respect business people. But nowadays business people are known for making Hella dumb decisions
imagine having to be forced by samsung to pay for cloud storage just like iphone does. Apart from that uploading files and many GB to the cloud is stressful and slow and you can't see your files without internet. *VS* having a Micro SD that you can see thousands of files you have in less than 5 seconds get what you need and you can use those same files on other devices and faster than with the excuse of "using cloud storage" and what good that the micro sd does not need the Internet. Literally the uses that can be given to the Micro SD without having to be connected to an Internet Network help a lot and always help. But Samsung wants to follow the same steps as its competition and not those of its Users unfortunately.
I feel your pain what i do is i simply use this method shown in the video to save all my big files then i plug out the micro sd card reader place it in my pocket when im finished ,Then whenever im ready to view my files again i plug it back in i prefer this method more than cloud storage because like u said cloud storage needs internet connection ,but this method doesnt..To be honest this method is the closest we gonna get to the sd card slot because unfortunately samsung aint bringing back the sd slot which is really a shame bro 😕😢
There are positives and negatives to both sides. A good MicroSD card can cost anywhere from $100-$200, it can be lost or corrupted, or easily damaged. Positives: don't need internet to access and it's faster to upload/download locally. On the flip side, iCloud storage can cost $1/mo for 50GB, $3/mo for 200GB, or $10/mo for 2TB. Added benefits include never losing the memory, having it backed up and accessible from all your apple devices and now you can even share that storage data plan with others so only one person pays for 2TB and your other members can be added on at no additional cost. How often do you upgrade your microSD cards? Add up all the money you spend on the microSD cards and compare to Apple's cost directly. Pros and Cons on both sides of the isle, it really depends on what you are using it for primarily. Do you need it just for some personal family and friends photos and videos going through maybe max 100GB a year, or do you run a business in photo and video production that requires 2TB a month on a constant and consistent basis? Apple is designed for users who want to set it and forget it, where as Samsung offers users to manipulate their devices when and if necessary for better usability in certain scenarios. I use both, Apple and Samsung for their own strengths. Apple iPhone has my personal photos, videos, files, etc. I also use it for contracting work by keeping organized files in the Apple Cloud and accessing it from iPad or iPhone at any time. On the other hand, I use my Samsung for recording video of car repairs, how to's, diYs, etc. I use it as a phone line for my business as well to try and keep life in general more organized.
He's using a 512 GB phone, what exactly do you use your phone for yo the point you would need any extra storage, if whatever you're doing requires such storage, just use a computer
@@teste-yh5df True, but I think the base 256gb is pretty enough for that, the main concern is for camera enthusiasts that shoot 8k and use large files for ex and also the convenience of the card is unmatched.
This can only be practical work if there was a case that enclosures the device with a hub at the bottom that doubles as a charging port and SD slot . Similar to the battery cases they used to make for iPhones
We've been able to do this for a long time now. That's how I'd back up stuff and didn't want to shut the phone and remove SD card. Samsung needs to stop messing things up and removing useful parts of a successful phone. Having something sticking out the bottom of your phone is just going to have your USB connector break on you. It's all a control issue with these companies now days. I thought it was bad when they stopped with the removable battery. Then the loss of SD card. What next pay to play where they charge you for using features of the phone? It would be funny if I didn't feel like they think about stuff like this all day. S22 Ultra to S23 Ultra is a huge let down showing they stopped innovating and are more concerned with how to snatch more dollars out of your hand. It's all heading downhill from here.
Yeah my S5 was the last I had with a removeable battery. Had a anker case/extended battery combo with that many years ago. And yeah I worry about that USB thing too. Really just need a phone case that closes like a wallet too for better protecting everything. I don't mind the extra size at all myself. I never have. I started with Droid 4, then S5, S7, S9+ and now S10+. The droid 4 was actually nice for at least two things as well. A slide out keyboard and a mini hdmi out.
Wouldn't mind the loss of microSD if Samsung, in their limited wisdom, would add 1TB internal storage to their Ultra model. After all it is ULTRA, is it not!?! Keep it up Samsung and you'll drive me into the iPhone camp.
s23 ultra supports at least 2T external drive formated with NTSF . i used MyBat brand OTG cable . watching your video motivated me to try it. 2T is the largest usb drive i have . 2T pretty much covers it for the phone . this phone is 8 gig RAM , 256 gig storage .
@@jessecannon7500 2T WD Black Game Drive , from Western Digital . other drives might can work , i just happen to have that particular USB drive . with an OTG On The Go adpater . MyBat OTG adapter , other OTGs can work too .
Can't see how you want this thing sticking out the bottom of the phone as it would get knocked when travelling around. Samsung didn't think about previous customers with SD cards ....poor thinking
I agree poor choice on samsungs part they should give us the sd card slot however this is a great method to help free up storage simply transfer the files to the sd card then u can unplug it u dont have to keep it plugged in
@@TheRealAndroidDoctor not if you want to bring all your music with you that is larger size than the phones actual memory...the reason of me having a sd card in the first place
@@adamyoung1061 do people really have more tgan 512GB of music on their phone if so im shocked WOW i have lots of music on my phone it barely reaches 8gb
This brings me back to why I held onto my Sprint HTC Hero for as long as I could! Not because of the Micro SD card situation, but because of the SUPER EASY way to always have a 100% charge on hand! Buy about 3 of those square battery chargers and you're good! Just switch them out whenever your battery is getting low or you're going to head out. No more worries of your battery %
And you couldn't just do that by plugging the phone into your PC and moving all the files on your computer and not spending any money at all on an extra card and adapter? xD
This is a good option so you can transfer things from your phone to that expandable memory card like your photos videos since its mostly those things that take up the most space. That way you dont have to erase anything you can just tranfer them right to that card then take it off and put it away. You dont have to keep it on yoir phone at all times

Unfortunately the native gallery viewer or apps like quick pick will not allow you to view it. You have to use a third party app to view them and flip through the photos like you would in the gallery viewer. I have tried several apps like X-plore File Manger so far ...
This is depressing i have to stick with s20 because its the last one that has sd card its a nightmare for people who have a massive music collection to listen on the go that had to use usb as an alternative than again streaming service exists but its always nice to have the music files
@@TheRealAndroidDoctor the problem isnt the sd usage itself but when you have apps like samsung music it resets all your favorite tracks, playlist etc when you remove it so basicily iy shoud be kept on all time thus the hazzle of the new form of expansion in my case atless
I bought that thing for my s23 ultra and it works temporarily but unfortunately they all overheat or corrupt the sd card . I also had the USB C flash drive lost. Only the larger USB storage san disk is worth it and harder to lose
I think Samsung will lose a lot of support for removal of the sd slot. I'll keep my older version of my note 20 , until they bring back the sd slot or go with another phone. I have purchased not product since their first release.
yeah, like you can connect any storage device onto the usb c port of the phone, like for instance a 2TB ssd... nothing new here! But I guess some people are not aware of these things...
Exactly some people are really clueless they think u can just by any storage device and attach it next someone will say just buy a 5TB PC Hard drive, bro this what I have shown is probably the best method the micro sd card reader is very small & compact u can hardly notice it also u can simply remove it once your done transferring large files over to save internal storage space on the phone itself ,tlThen whenever u need to use it a gain simply plug it back in..
Yeah... You could have done this worh Android phones for years.... I actually thought this was a way that the sim slot could work as a sd card. This is a decent work around for backup and nothing else. NOT to expand the actual storage🤦♂️🤦♂️
Great video bro thanks for the info. Another easy way to make the difference is the Samsung secure folder and Samsung Knox. Fake phone has no Samsung Knox so no secure folder. That's it
Samsung : ….lets make our phones same as apple. Lets take out the micro sd card slot that our clients love, and sell storage space in the phone as gold price. Our clients will hate, but who cares! Now we look like the great Apple phones!
I fly drones and do photography, so losing the SD card slot was a pain in the F'n A. Now i need a stupid reader in my kit and have to deal with the irritation of having something plugged into the USB C port while trying to use it.
I bought a Sandisk 512 GB Extreme MicroSD Card & this card reader. When I place it into my S23 Ultra, the blue light blinks, but no USB icon appears. My S23 doesn't recognize the card at all. Is there some software that allows the card to be seen?
Lol This isn't what i was expecting when i clicked the video. Lol I've had the sandisk keychain for years for when i download or take long videos. These drain your battery and obviously you can't charge it simultaneously.
I'm sorry but I prefer the SD card slot to be built in the phone. I don't want nothing hanging out the bottom of my phone. That's not quite the solution in my opinion. But thanks for the video bro.
Remember its not going to stay hanging out the point of this workaround is that u can save all the large files like videos to tge sd card tgen un plug it then use it when need be
@@TheRealAndroidDoctor we won't as long as customers like you and me tolerate this. If we don't tolerate this, it'll change. Just like it did with the Note 5. No SD card slot the Note 7 SD card slot returned. Consumers are just too quick to accept things that these manufacturers put out there
I'm in the USA. Can you supply the link to purchase that storage device on AMAZON for USA? I don't want to get the wrong one. I have a Samsung Galaxy S21. Thank You.
If anyone has a Galilleo G8 or Backbone Controller, do their USB-C charge port work with Micro SD reader (I assume not)? Would be nice if these telescopic controllers support USB-C devices besides charging phone through them.
Video title alternative: Quick and easy way to f**k off your usb port with some garbage $2 Chinese dongle ready to act as a lever to destroy your super expensive phone. 😂
@TransCube the s10 plus had some great features but in comparison to my s23 ultra yes the performance and battery are trash but in other aspects it was a great phone . How many phones do you know have a pulse oximeter, heart rate monitor , micro SD card , and headphone jack and wireless powershare all in one ?
They take away your storage options and then they say well you have 512gb of storage, but what they dont tell you is....Everytime we upgrade your fone we take away a chunk of your storage!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd say get the 512GB or 1TB instead of going through this. In fact, Samsung during pre-order gives free storage upgrade, so have no SD card slot isn't as much of a pain, not that I ever cared about it has their wasn't any custom ways in setting to use external storage as internal if their was an opition even then we no longer live in these days were phones max out at 16GB we now have 1TB opition, I just hate losing features whether I use it or not whatever is their should be their unless it's harming your device.
The free storage upgrade from Google Fi was awesome. $780 in total instant rebates pre-ordering there. After selling my S22U it was only $143. The storage upgrade was worth that easy.
lol why not just get a tiny usb but i agree No SD card support, no thanks....8k 300MB files for 30 seconds of video and super gigamegapixel cameras and no freaking place to store them. Not to mention if the SOC dies you lose all the things....This is like buying a Ferrari with a 1/2 gallon fuel tank. Flash is not that expensive in 2024 the only reason they took expandable storage away is pure greed to drive people into cloud subscriptions. Why do I say that? Well, like I said flash is cheap the SOC with a 10% percent premium only doubles the memory, they could throw 2TB on the SOC easily but they do not. Cloud storage solutions have their own problems. The least of which is they can cut of access to your photos at their whim. But what if you do not have a connection to the internet due to all the reasons that can happen? Also, don't give the water proofing BS because the sim tray is still there and it used to house the SD card. Until people say NO and stop pushing/buying this crap then this will continue. I have a Note 10+ and if this trend continues and SD cards don't come back or at the very least memory capacity doesn't expand, then this will be my last Samsung phone. No thanks
The way it's so expensive... It sounds have space for a sd card it does not make sense that the A54 has 256 and has sd card plus cheaper too... It's so boring honestly all this phone ls are doing this no memory thing... Like when I'm on the farm.... I cant use my stream service... So I have to download alot of things... It's impossible because we have so many apps we us and stuff... This is why I need up, buying a second phone...
I keep having to delete pics and videos and emails and txts cause keeps saying I'm outta storage. I was told my s23 ultra had 512 gb storage come to find out I only have 15 my daughter's iPhone holds thousands and thousands of pictures and videos I have 53 videos and 600 pictures and I'm out of storage already out of storage hate to say it but I think I'm converting to iPhone
Remember your only using it to transfer files to the micro sd card to free up storage space on the phone after thay u can simply remove the card it doesnt stay plugged into the phone me personally i thinks its the best alternative since samsung screwed us..
Also how do I move files to card will there be like an option move file to storage device somwhere ? Couse did not try that on my s 23 ultra my is 256 GB so its not enought for long recordings or do I ned som sort of file management app?
