The glass sandwich design is still underrated by many users that think it is super fragile or heavy. I love the that design on the Samsung 2015 smartphone line and the Sony Xperia glass sandwich phones.
Thank you so much for doing after the buzz for this phone. I was wondering if there were any videos like this on youtube and boom couple of days later I found your video. Good job pocketnow.
Completely agree. A very reliable and still one of the best buying options even after the S7. Bought mine 6 mnths back and still functioning as new. Can easily stick with it for a year more !!!
Great video Jaime! Please understand I mean this as the highest possible praise: when I click a Pocketnow video, if it's not Michael Fisher, I want it to be you.
think about it , do you really need lightspeed software updates... you get to avoid annoying software bugs that nexuses/motos have to bear with, with 1st gen software... receiving matured and stable updates afterwards... and get on with life... not show off For the general consumer like me , Marshmallow is no different than Lollipop , which is already smooth on my samsung... save for all the new nerd features in marshmallow..
+Marcus Xe For people who actually want any extra storage on their device, or memory at all if they got a 32 gig, not having an sd card slot as well as marshmallow being the first to be able to use sd cards as actual storage, they need the update.
Marshmallow is an improved Lollipop , you get the new permission system along with stability and performance improvements and many many other changes/fixes , Lollipop is slow and sluggish compared to marshmallow because of memory leaking that has luckily been resolved on marshmallow .
s6 was trash. So I switched to Note5. Note5 is way better than the s6.software is lag-free unlike the s6. Whites are not yellowish. And the screen is much brighter than the s6. Note5 provides the great smartphone experience.I think it is the best smartphone you can buy, for now. iPhone 6s Plus too.(64GB)
Also, I like how this after the buzz is way after launch, it helps us buyers who usually buy year old phones. Mayhaps, after the buzz moves to 6 months?
The no sd card slot and removable back is a killer for me. The S5 remains the best galaxy phone, Although I would consider the S6 since the price has dropped
Going To Get This Beauty Soon, My Daily Driver Is Currently The iPhone SE (Gold) I Love Both Samsung & Apple. This Retails For $349 On MetroPCS Can't Wait To Get It.
thanks for the episode. I've been on S6 edge since last June. fw updates did iron out most issues, and since I drive a lot it sits in saddle like a TomTom charging while I navigate & take calls. bt connects to my mb a series 200 instantly & also using k-100 bt in older summer car. call quality in both cases are fine. -Cheers
Has Jaime Rivera been given full time duties for "After The Buzz" because he is always talking about drinking in his videos?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Kidding Jaime! I always enjoy your videos, whether or not you are talking about adult beverages. :D
+Jack Rhodes The fell is just MMM, I was going to buy the s6 but grab the edge for a second and NOP one 6 edge plis :D, i hate the edge part of the screen but I forget every time I have it in my hands
The S6 was hands down the best phone of 2015. If Samsung can put a bigger battery in the S7 and also give it exandable storage then that will litterally be the perfect phone.
Not sure about the battery though. 3000mA for me is not the perfect battery. Needs to be 4000 to be called the perfect phone but not sure if the technology is there to fit that type of battery in a 5inch phone. 3000mA is not too bad though so it will be a beast nonetheless.
+angel2901 that was just a sale Samsung did for a couple of weeks. normal price is 499 - 599. Und glaub mir ich bin aus Deutschland und habe es gerade erst gekauft :D
Not to be odd, but looking at your battery stats it looks kind of like you might have the Google Play Services drain bug. Unless, of course, you are using Google Now a ton. I had a battery drain problem on my phone caused by Google Play Services and ran across this. 1. Go to Settings -> Apps -> All -> Google Play Services -> Clear Cache. 2. Reboot phone. If that doesn't work try. 1. Go to Settings -> Security -> Device administrators -> Uncheck/Deactivate Android Device Manager. 2. Go to Settings -> Apps -> All -> Google Play Services -> Click on Uninstall Updates, Clear Cache. 3. You will get Notifications saying "Hangouts needs Google Play Services to run in order to use" or similar, click on this and allow Google play Services to update. 4. Go back to Settings -> Security -> Device administrators -> And Reactivate Android Device Manager. 5. Reboot phone. The second way fixed it for me. I don't know Samsung's menu layout though. Hopefully it's similar enough.
i own it s6 edge 32gb... no lag...no issues....great camera..i like it very much and the design still is eye catching..i love it and very much satisfied..except as mentioned the battery life...which when in emergency i use the great ultra power saving mode..20% battery lasts from 5-7hours depending on the usage
your are doing a great job. lot of reviewers review the product as soon as possible and forget about it as they get new stuff. but it's the consumer who problems after several months of usage.any new phone performs well during the first monttlh and they review within this time period. you can't judge a phone with one month of usage.
only had my S6 a couple months but.. battery life is good, about 24 hrs moderate usage with around 4 hrs SOT still performs well, very responsive and fast screen is amazing HAD to put a case on it..too slippery and expensive, plus the case flattens out the back which makes it less wobbly to lay down and it's easier and more comfortable to hold
Aside from the abysmal battery life, the S6 is all in all the best smartphone I have owned. The phone still performs like a champ almost a year after I first picked up the S6. It's also held up really well- with only a minor ding on the edge despite the fact I carry the phone without a case. Not a single issue whatsoever.
Great review. Watching it right from the S6 :D Is there one for the Nexus 9? I think it was mentioned that Nexus 9 will be seen again in After the Buzz but I couldn't find it.
Nice review! My S6 is aging well plus I bought a case for it. I take plenty of photos with it and make use of an external battery I got one Christmas. I use a pair of apps as well that help a bit with battery. One it's called ShutApp and goes with another called Doze.
Thank you for this. I've been waiting for this to be posted actually. And I do agree with everything that's been said. Battery life of my S6 is the downfall.
quick question I m on board with win phone since 2010. my phone dided yesterday and with limited budget I was looking to get a Xiaomi pro whatever BUT a friend of mine suggested to get a used S6 instead. Would that be WISE to do? Main focus I have is : CAMERA
wait for nhe s7 to come out to make your choice... it's what im doing and i have a note 4 ..also marshmallow has not been released for no samsung phones as yet
How do you have so many scratches? I've never put my S6 Edge in a case, have dropped it numerous times and yet even in sunlight I cannot see a single scratch anywhere on it. Maybe it's because I never put anything else in the pocket it goes in and don't have any ear rings..who knows
I have an S5 and I've never still enjoyed a phone now as much as I first got it as i do after a year's use as this one. I don't mind the plastic as it won't and hasn't dented or really scratched as my friend's S6 has. the usb 3.0 is really useful and the fact it's water resistant is great too; plus i can remove my battery as well. Those three features are lacking on the S6 and they're the main reason why I chose to stick to the S5. I will be keeping the S5 as long as possible because nothing on the market has all these features and a great screen to bat
I just tried the Galaxy s6 but I couldn't get past how poorly the finger print reader worked. after a couple days I couldn't stand having to enter my pass word to open the phone. I have just this week been using the Nexus 5x and I'm blown away by how well the finger print reader works and how much I love this phone. I have used everything IPhone 6/Lumia 950 and the Nexus 5x has totally impressed me and its the least expensive phone I have purchased.
It might just be the model you're using (US models seem to do worse?) or the way you use your phone. I personally do get 4 hours of screen-on time with 20% left. I also don't experience any RAM issues, unless the phone loads up apps so quickly that I don't notice it anyway. The only issue I have is that I experience a little bit of stuttering when scrolling or opening a side-menu as the phone is loading something. This becomes very noticeable when I apply a theme from he theme store. Lastly, in the first few months I had to send in my phone for the sim-only that wouldn't open and for the back-camera that wouldn't focus unless I held it upside down for a few seconds. Aside from the little bit of stuttering, I haven't had any problems since.
Couldn't stand this phone for the life of me. Such powerhouse with so poor battery was very upsetting, to think Samsung used to call Apple users wall huggers. Anyway I'm hoping they do better this year.
true. if they're gonna have such a fast draining battery atleast give us a removable back (which has been requested ever since its launch XD) fast charging is cool but annoying to be glued to a charger multiple times a day
I got rid of my iPhone 6 and bought the S6 because I missed being able to customize my phone. A month later I returned it to get an iPhone 6s because it seemed that the difference in performance (smoothness) and the battery life put a bad taste in my mouth. Love the feel in hand and over all look though.
I don't know if it is a lot but I manage to get 4 and a half hours of SOT in my Note5, with a lot of Facebook, RU-vid, Instagram and Whatsapp use. I think Samsung stepped up with the battery on their phones
Switched to one plus 2 after using s6 for 3-4 months..Terrible Ram management and battery life ruined the experience for me.I am a heavy gamer and this phone barely gives me 1.5 hrs of sot with Modern combat 5 and asphalt 8.One Plus 2 easily gets me around 3 hrs of sot.The only thing I miss is the fantastic camera.
Pocketnow should do a breakdown or "let's talk" type of video over the Verizon and T-Mobile Balls commercial. It's pretty funny how Verizon came so strong onto all the other carries and brag BUT didn't exactly have the right statistics to back them up. You guys should REALLY look into it 😁
Overall a great phone. However I am on my 3rd unit or copy of the S6. The first one stopped charging after a few weeks. 4 months later the second unit just went dark and would not turn on. I suspect over heating being the cause for this problem. The 3rd unit I took the opportunity to upgrade to the 128G unit. I noticed that the phone ran smoother and I can back things up at my leisure as opposed to being forced to like I was with the 16g unit. The battery life is the single biggest hold back for the S6.
I LOVE my s6. Sadly I encountered ghost press of the back key and have to put it in the service center. Currently using K Zoom and the experience doesnt come close. Hopefully I get my s6 back in its prime condition. As for the battery issue, yeah it isnt the beefiest, but the fast charging option is a life saver.
While not amazing by any means I regularly got 4 hrs 15 mins screen on time with my S6. Lovely device but as someone who thinks battery life should not be comprised to have a premium phone (fast charging is no good if your out for the day) I find the iPhone 6s Plus easily beats any flagship android phone for battery life. And while no where near as customisable as android you can't fault iOS for smoothness and ease of use. I'm not a fanboy I've had my fair share of androids, s6 and s6 edge plus most recently but the 6s plus is hard to beat.
