the front part of S8 is like, something from the future.Half the month of October is done and still no phone in the market that looks better than this damn Galaxy S8
John The Note 8 cause it got that visor look with dual camera and the rounded edges make it hard the adore the s8/s7 S7 for example was very very painful to say good-looking .The edges were excessively curved and the ICONS .God forbid.Something out of kids school book for learning pictures. That's so cartoonish although I hate it less now but it's still UGLY AS HELL. Note looks more classy and never ever disliked it until now. In love with XZ Premium despite the big Bezels.Guess I have a fetish for sharp edges !

I could probably get used the the position, however i still prefer the sensor on the front. Do you have a case on the S8 ? Does it take away the great looks of the phone ?
Missmethinksalot1 I've had one since launch and it's amazing. Coming from the v20, I thought I would be losing functionality with glance-able info when the screen is off, but nope AoD is awesome and even more functional, with full media control, etc. I thought I would be losing the added functionality of the second display in using the app shortcuts and contact shortcuts to really clean up my setup, but nope you get all that and more with edge display. I really thought I'd miss the replaceable battery, but that was just because my v20 died so fast I NEEDED to walk around with two batteries! With the s8 plus, the battery has absolutely blown me away. I'm a heavy user, lots of music and games and RU-vid and Bluetooth and GPS, and I often get over 6 hours. Also fast charge is way more noticable when that charge lasts significantly longer. BT 5.0 is great. The camera is amazing. The screen is amazing. Bixby is absolute garbage though, I have it disabled.... btw, really loved my v20, just been blown away with the s8.
Allen Tom Yeah that's what I am going to do too, the note 8 will have the fingerprint scanner on the front again and the s-pen is always a nice extra feature
Alejandro Gllrd I doubt the fingerprint sensor will be on the front, but rather in the middle of the back, like the pixel. Putting it in the front ruins everything they just did. I bought the S8, it wasn't worth the wait for the note and there's nothing wrong with the S8 that seriously bothers me.
Had my S8 through to 2021. The battery was actually still okay on mine (could go through a whole day on one charge if I was just internet browsing). I could have easily kept it for another year but I really wanted something that had a good stylus pen support.
I still have my S8+ in 2021, and even though it was sent by my uncle, (which he used the phone a decent amount) it's still a beast. Absolutely love the performance. The only problem I have with it is battery life, though the charger that comes with the phone is amazing! Way better than the charger I got with my Motorola phone. I think I'll upgrade by November, I have my eyes on the Google pixel 6, the Iphone 11 the MI 11T, and the Moto G100. Maybe I'll even buy a better Samsung phone, as they look amazing from what I've seen with the Galaxy S8+.
DKHD It was Available with Samsung for the S8 (Its Called Synaptics Something) but as of now it was Sick Slow,So Instead of Compromising on Speed Samsung Added the Traditional Scanner
I think samsung wanted to use the Synaptics FS9100 which can read fingerprints even when 1mm under glass. But Synaptics didn't make it. They plan mass production of those sensors in Q2, which is obviously late for S8. Pretty sure Note 8 will use it.
Me too, I'm very happy with mine! I kind of want to buy a new phone, but I won't do it before I have a reason to, the battery life is still acceptable and everything works perfectly still. Even still get regular system updates. But it starting to become a little sluggish sometimes, probably should factory reset it or something, but I'm too lazy for that..
Watching on my S8, still works aweosemly, no issues whatsoever with it, if you didn't know it is 5 years old product you could say it is from this year.
OMG, you improve every video even though your cinematography skills are top notch. It's amazing how you go over the top and shoot in the highest resolution possible just because you can. To get back to the subject of the video, the galaxy S8 is a truly amazing phone and you illustrate this perfectly while also addressing that the S8 isn't perfect, and still has its flaws. Keep up the great work creating some of the best, if not the best, quality videos on youtube.
when my dad first got this phone back in 2017, i realized just how beautiful the build was. When he gave that S8 to me in 2019 as a replacement to my Note Edge, I again realized how beautiful the phone was. Even in 2020, even though I upgraded to the S10, the S8 still looks beautiful. Definitely one of the best looking phones of all time.
Still rocking it in 2020. It does 100% the things I need it to do, even if I'm a power user. Waiting for Samsung to step it up and make a revolutionary phone or one that is so superior I can consider switching!
My battery is getting really bad. I'm thinking about getting the S20FE 5g. I'd like to get a Note 20 Ultra, but it's too expensive and just a scam when you're living in Europe.
Put an iR Blaster, front facing/ stereo speakers, Dual Camera setup, and of course change fingerprint sensor placmenent And this becomes The Perfect Phone!
Abdul Haseeb here's the thing tho.They are trying to make the bezels as tiny as possible and the next galaxy is probably not gonna have any bezels,so they would have to find out how to implement speaker technology into the screen and right now they barely have finger print technology to go under the screen so it's probably not gonna come for a decent tine
It’s not 3D Touch. Samsung wasn’t able to put 3 levels of sensitivity units screen like Apple. It was only able to put 1. They tried to copy apples innovation but failed.
Man i miss my s8. It was my introduction to Android. It was so beautiful. I have s22 ultra now, it's like a totally different world. Life was so much different back in s8 day

3 years later, my S8 is still going strong! :) Definitely was way ahead of its time back in 2017; it hardly looks out of place with the other modern-day smartphones.
Gallardo 5Million I think if Apple not going to change anything besides the design I think they absolutely done, same screen for the last 5 years, ok prossor getting updates And thry even removed the audio jack, so Apple have a lot of work to do
mohd shakir I'll be surprised if the iPhone 8 isn't just a minor update. Like all they basically did is remove the headphone jack, update the camera and made a faster processor for the iPhone 7.
Oxi Clean Nah. They recently tied a contract with Samsung and the iPhone 8 will definitely be huge. It will have the same screen as the S8 and that's one thing I always admired about Samsung: they have some beautiful screens
This phone is the most reliable phone I have ever used, and I would dare to say the one with the most premium look. I had used it for five years until buying the S23 Ultra this year - it is performing well until now. I was happier getting the S8 than what I feel now about the S23. I mean grab both phones in your hands, you have to admit that S8 when released in 2017, was way ahead of its time.
IOS is like living in a huge mansion but you are not allowed to step outside... Android is like you are living in a real world with full freedom but we all know the real world isn't perfect so gotta find a sweet spot..:)

March 2022 and im still rocking my july 2018 S8 phone , its great really except for the battery life. It really amazes me that its never slow or laggy and all apps still work perfectly fine on it. Too bad im buying a new device in afew months and will put my champion S8 to rest, you served me well old guy.
I miss this era of phones tbh. The S8 was beautiful, the Pixel just arrived, and I was in love with how it looked from the back, phones with larger storage started becoming the standard even with budget phones... What a good time it was
Michael yeah I don't mind it. I've had my phone for a few weeks now and I gave the other unlock options a chance for like one day. The fingerprint scanner is just so much quicker, especially for someone like me that keeps their AOD activated. I use this phone generally with two hands because I have small hands, but I don't need to when I unlock my phone. There are setting in the phone that are available for those that MUST have one handed use.
Samsung: "We know you guys find being able to rebind your button very useful, but we're just gonna remove that feature because we don't want you guys not using Bixby" Thanks a lot lads.

Beast Armada they're assholes for wanting people to use the software they spent lots of time and money on and even went as far as to make a dedicated button for on the device... I understand that people want to change it but I don't get how people can get mad at Samsung for doing the obvious business move...
SourceCZ normally I would agree with your sentiments about Samsung wanting to actively promote Bixby, but for god sakes dude... They launched an incomplete product. It doesn't have voice support yet. To many users it's going to be pretty useless until it's fully rolled out. If Samsung's going to release a half-assed feature and then force people to use it, I think that's pretty idiotic.
SourceCZ I understand the business reasons for it, but it's still frustrating because it's so blatantly anti-consumer to deny owners choice about how they use their own device, particularly when it's through a software patch specifically designed to limit functionality. This is the kind of shit Apple is known for, and it's maddening to see a company whose products I used to love go down this route.
I'm probably in the minority, but I would love to see an s8 edge mini that I can comfortably use with one hand. (and yes, I know there's a one hand mode)

I still use my s8+ today. I got a deal on the pixel 7 and bought it but it is still in the sealed box...I will probably sell it since I am not ready to give up my s8+ lol. Just need to replace the battery and I will be good to go for another few years!
Been using my S8 again recently in late 2022 and can say it is a solid phone. You can definitely tell it's an older phone but surprisingly runs well and it competes decently with budget phones available now haha
@@venator7889 in all honesty the battery is not the best, but using it as a secondary phone it had enough for my needs. It also can fast charge which can help you charge back up quickly.
Still using the S8 in 2021. It's amazing that it took YEARS for the iPhone to catch up to this screen-to-body ratio... and even more amazing that iPhone's best PPI still hasn't touched this phone. S8 camera still gives me beautiful shots, display's still great, and the craziest thing is that this still runs the top-of-the-line Android games like a champ... in fact I haven't found one single app that this can't run due to it's older version of Android. Yeah it caps out at Android 9, but that also means 11/12's scoped storage isn't causing hell for emulators, and games like Megatroid that became incompatible with Android 10 still work on the S8. S8's still wonderful, even today.
I find your impression about the fingerprint reader positioning very strange! I just received my Galaxy S8 yesterday. When I hold it in my not-so-big hand in a normal way, the fingerprint reader is right under the tip of my index finger. Actually, it would be so awkward if it was in the center and lower. Some people say you may put your finger over the camera and make it dirty, that's invalid too. 1. Don't forget about muscle memory, it will become second nature in a week. 2. Cellphone lenses are already dirty (in comparison to what we expect from a camera), because they don't have protection and are exposed to direct touch, so they should be cleaned before shooting serious photos, regardless of what the phone is. 3. I think cellphone cases (which many people use) will help us distinguishing fingerprint reader a little bit better, and/or protecting the lens from being touch. I think the only valid complain would be from left-handed users. And finally, don't forget it has iris scanner!
My parents bought me one in july Then got robbed and worked hard in school,had good grades and now i have an s10+ Altought i miss so much the s8 like its soo beautifull and still better than midrage and budget phones in everything you want
Great things about this phone: -sd card slot -headphone jack -fast charging/ fast wireless charging -the best camera out there period. -best display on a smartphone even in 1080 mode -a lot of security option. -have multi window feature. Yes im pointing at you Apple fanboy -near to future-proof phone with the display,the display's ratio. Dex, bluetooth 5.0 etc -retain everything from the predecessor -comes with adapters and even the AKG earbuds Compromises; -Average battery life (just because the exploding issue) -lower speaker quality Bad thing about the phone: -stupid fingerprint sensor placement
I think this is my fav industrial design on a samsung phone still. thin, reasonable bezels that still give you a place to grip while still giving you a lot of display in a good size. not only that, but the bezels have enough room to pack in useful sensors. no hole punch cutting into the display or anything, meaning it's not blocking any parts of an 18:9 video when held landscape.
I have an s8 and feel like the curved edges are gimmicky and you sacrifice protection in a case because the sides of the cases dive down below the surface of the glass leaving it open for impact
Ofcourse they are vulnerable BUT i have used s8 for a while and from what i experienced they gives awesome in hand feel and experience due to curve edges
Jason Bushland - The curve isn't necessarily made for function, it is made for the feel. I held the regular S8 and it feels phenomenal, especially with how narrow it is, it certainly feels better than the V30 I have, but I had my reasons to prefer the V30.
